We never got to do the check-in because when we arrived there was nobody to meet us there. The door was closed and no matter how many times we called the telephone number provided on the hotel sign, there was no answer. The hotel has no 24h reception service. This is usually not a problem for us as we have had this in many ocasions, however, usually you are then provided with check-in instructions to acces the hotel. The hotel asks you to provide the time of arrival 24h in advance. We had asked for an early check-in which was denied (no problem, we know it is subject to availability), the hotel told us that they will therefore expect us as from 14:00 onwards. I wrote to the hotel that we would be there after lunch (which in spain is usually after 15:00h) as there was no further question about the time of check-in and the hotel did not mention any inconvinience regarding my info, we did not forward more information. We had been up since 01:00am. When we arrived at 17:00h (so not any strange time, we were not attended. Neither at the property nor vía telephone. We called 33!!!!! times over the time span of 1h 17min. In the meantime we contacted *********** for help, they also tried to contact the property without any response from the property. They then started the process of relocating us and cancelled the booking at this hotel with a refund (the hotel charged us the full stay in advance). We had to be relocated to a more expensive hotel, booking took care of the difference. Our new hotel was fortunately much more beautiful and in a better location. The lady who should have checked us in finally called us back when we were in the middle of the phone call with booking. I asked her to wait and she very rudely responded she doesn't have the time to wait. We had been waiting 2 hours infront of the closed door of her hotel!!! And instead of apologizing she was being rude about it and also saying she has only 4 calls. This is a complete lie. I have all calls on record. There was even a spanish couple who tried to help us by phoning her also and even leaving her a voice message. There was no apology whatsoever. Just rudeness and giving us the feeling she is glad she does not have to deal with us (probably did not suit her time schedule for the day to come and check us in). We are apalled by the treatment we got. I have worked in the hotel industry for nearly 16 years, also in a management position at a 5* hotel. I know exactly how things should work and what is completely unacceptable. Even if the hotel has no 24h reception, there must be someone available at least by phone. A guest could have a serious emergency (health issue) and need assistance. This is a serious issue. We speak spanish as we live in Spain and know what we have to do and who we need to call in case of an emergency. But most foreign tourists don't. This hotel has no sense of customer service at all. I have to agree with almost everything that has been written about this hotel, yes it is kept in a spotless condition, staff are really friendly and overall a really well run hotel. Entertainment in the evening is low key and I would suggest is geared more towards the more mature guests without the usual annoying base vibrating around the hotel, likewise the music around the pool area is perfect. Sun beds always available around the pool and great to have a rule in the hotel ”no putting out towels and saving sunbeds” likewise no hanging towels and wet swimwear over balconies, this rule broken unfortunately by a minority of British guests!!. Plenty of choices of food in the hotel restaurant, but again in agreement with other reviewers at times the food could be quite cold. I would give the hotel a five star rating apart from one minor point.. The restaurant in the hotel is more like a works canteen which could be easily rectified with a little dimmed lighting and a few pictures on the walls to take away the clinical look that it currently has... If you like the sun on your room then I would suggest avoiding if possible rooms 234 236 and the rooms above or below those rooms as they get no sun whatsoever on the balconies. Apart from that I would recommend this hotel for a quiet holiday in a quiet location in Minorca.

Stayed for 7 nights in June/July. We travelled with two friends so each couple had a standard double room. We were met by the manager of the hotel Pacqui who greeted us like long lost friends- she was on hand at various times during the holiday but all reception staff were friendly and helpful. We had arrived before check in time so the hotel stored our bags and then text us when the rooms were ready- about 2pm. The standard double rooms are small but facilities were good- tv ( bbc news ), a safe, air conditioning, fridge, lovely towels ( changed as often as you would like), nice bed linen, all Molton Brown toiletries - hand wash, shower gel, shampoo and conditioner . Small points - the window didn’t open and the wardrobe space didn’t allow us to hang up dresses or shirts - but this is an old building so they work with what they can. We used hooks ( and a picture rail) for our clothes…. We had breakfast included and this was just lovely- offered different teas/coffee, pastries, cakes, toast. Then a menu for a variety of other dishes- scrambled eggs, omelettes, toast with a variety of topping ( recommend the sobrasada and Mahon cheese with honey!) staff were very friendly and efficient. We stayed in the adjoining part of the hotel - there is a lift . The hotel is situated perfectly by the cathedral and square. Would highly recommend for a stay in Mahon.

This is a superb venue for an end of season break. Hotel is clean, friendly and well laid out. LOCATION - ok so it is up a wee hill, but 5 minutes from shops and the beach. It's not really tough going in my opinion. The extra height affords you nice views from the pool area and your room if sea facing. ROOMS - good space, nice and modern and clean. No issues from me. Perhaps could do with a mirror in the living area. Has all amenities you need, hair dryer, toaster etc. Beds nice and comfy and we did have good effective air con. HOTEL - well laid out, nice bar and restaurant. Pool was nice and area is very pleasant. Might get busy in high season. Prices fine with estrella on tap. Staff friendly and helpful, especially Marisol who was a gem with info. AREA - Galdana is fairly small but has plenty to see and so. Very pretty location. TOP TIPS 1. WALK ! - If you are able, go explore. Both directions have great walks along the coast on the Cami. Great beaches each way 6k or so there and back. I did walk to Cap D'artrutx one morning. Stunning 20k and around 5 hours with stops. Beautiful. 2. BUSES! - The service is great and cheap. Go to Mau or ciutadella etc. 3. BEACH STUFF - great idea, this hotel and Artiem down the road have a use/return/donate box. Ideal for a parisol, bucket and spade etc. Recycle! 4. LOOK! take Time to stop and take it in! Get up at dawn and be first to macarelletta beach. That 5 minutes to yourself cant be bought! Watch out for red kites and booted eagles.

We stayed for four nights last week and enjoyed it very much. We were in a Junior Suite with a harbour view and a large comfortable bed and pillows. The bathroom was well appointed with a walk in shower and the air conditioning was very quiet and efficient. The hotel supplied a bottle of water, a packet of crisps, two bottles of lager and two bottles of fanta and there was also tea and coffee available (but no milk!) Buffet breakfast and evening meals were comprehensive with a good selection of hot and cold food which was readily replenished. The only complaint as far as we were concerned was the late start of dinner which was 7:30 and a bit late for our liking. The hotel itself was spotlessly clean and there were plenty of sun loungers around the pool and we would recommend this hotel.
