Les Jardins de Baracane

We stayed in the top floor suite of this B and B in the old town of Avignon. It is very central and has a peaceful garden to relax in after a busy day. Olivier and Laurence were excellent hosts and provided us with lots of recommendations for restaurants and sites to visit even before we arrived. Olivier is happy to help with bookings. Although there is a pool it was too cold and windy during our stay for us to venture in. There is no lift but Olivier helped us with our luggage on arrival and departure. Our suite was very comfortable and the windows were fitted with anti mosquito grills. Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance. a light breakfast is included - coffee or tea and a croissant. Tea and coffee available in the kitchen all day as you wish. Handy for when you return from a day trip. Filtered water also always available. Highly recommend

We stayed 6 days at this lovely B&B, ran by the most gracious hosts, Olivier and Laurence. We were made to feel welcome and at home the moment we arrived and throughout our stay. So many thoughtful touches such as croissants in the morning, a nice cold beer to welcome you after a day of touring, and restaurant reservations made on our behalf to some of the nicest family run places close to the B&B. For us, the best part of travelling is meeting special people. We are so fortunate to have met Olivier and Laurence. A special mention goes to adorable Minette, who charmed us from the word go.

Can’t believe I totally forgot to write a review of this place. Absolutely a GEM!!! Exactly as pictured…our hosts were so lovely. The location was perfect…Laurence gave us such great restaurant recommendations. If you are visiting this area don’t hesitate to stay here!

How do you describe the feeling of coming from the big city of Lyon to the peace and tranquility of Les Jardins de Baracane in one sentence. Hidden among the tiny streets of the old walled part of Avignon lays a treasure waiting for your arrival. Olivier and his wife Laurence have created an absolute oasis for their guests and welcomed us with drinks ( my husband a beer and I some pear juice) and showed us around the property and got us acquainted. We spent four peaceful days here and traveled to surrounding towns during our stay - Roussillon, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue( Sunday is Market day) and Gordes (Tuesday is Market Day). Both will help you navigate where you may want to go and have an incredible list of where to eat in the city of Avignon that are all with in walking distance. We are sad to be leaving, but happy to have found this hidden gem.

We spent four lovely, relaxing days at this wonderful B&B! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and shown the home and garden. Our room was very clean and beautifully decorated. The bed was comfortable too. We spent hours in the garden relaxing and reading after a day of sightseeing! The pool was very inviting, but we did not go in (other guests did). Our host and hostess were delightful and gave us great recommendations for dinner near the B&B. We highly recommend!

We spent three nights in the Eden room which is on the top floor. The room was huge, bed comfy and shower was great. The bathroom inside the room is up a little staircase but wasn’t a big deal for us. If you have any physical limitations however, I would consider staying somewhere else. To get to our room, it was several flights up a narrow staircase (not fun with luggage for sure!). The garden and pool out back are absolutely beautiful and peaceful. We spent several afternoons and evenings relaxing out there. We did not take the breakfast - for 15 euros a person, it seemed a little high for just a continental breakfast. There is a nice coffee machine and water dispenser in the kitchen which are always available (along with some free beers in the fridge which were great on a hot afternoon). The real star was Aicha who took such good care of us during our stay. Unfortunately the B&B owners were dealing with a family illness and were away but from the moment we arrived, Aicha made sure we had everything we needed. She is so friendly and was always available when we had questions or needed anything. Also, do read through the online guide that they email you - lots of great info and restaurant recommendations.

Olivier and Laurence lovingly take care of their guests. The very tastefully furnished and renovated hotel has a courtyard with garden and pool that invites you to dream. A stay in this very individually designed house will remain in your best memory.

My daughters and I spent a week at Les Jardins de Baracane and could not have asked for a more relaxing and accommodating place to stay. From the moment I initially emailed Olivier and Laurence until the time we left, they provided immediate and helpful service and advice. Olivier's suggestions for tours, restaurants and sites to see were always of the highest quality. They both were patiently kind with my repeated emails inquiring into various restaurants, sites and travel arrangements. They made our first trip to Avignon much less stressful as a result. We were greeted warmly by Olivier when we arrived and he helped us carry our heavy bags to our room on the top floor. The room was spacious and impeccably clean with a glorious view of the garden. We appreciated that there was a 24 hr kitchen where we could make our own coffee and tea and fill up our water bottles. The breakfasts were delicious with fresh pastries, fruit and yogurts along with a special home-baked treat by Laurence. The location of their home is just off a main square so it is very close to the heart of Avignon with great restaurants, shops and bars within walking distance. The house itself was very quiet and serene. We loved to have breakfast and sometimes lunch in the garden. Should we have the good fortune to return to Avignon, we will most certainly be staying at Les Jardins de Baracane! Thank you for everything Olivier and Laurence.

Fabulous visit. This is the kind of place that makes me love to travel. From Olivier’s warm greeting to the beautiful, lush oasis of a garden, to our beautiful and charming room, to the warm chestnut cake for breakfast … it was beyond our greatest expectation.
