Our experience was the same as Robert S. in August, or worse. For the price we paid, we expected to be wowed .. and we were not. The room was well-furnished, but faced a drag back courtyard. Staff was disinterested, Wi-Fi was horrible, bathroom design was weird (shower door did not meet the wall or floor so water went everywhere ... long-standing issue made obvious by peeling paint on WC door). On the first night, we noticed that one of the two lounge chairs had a broken leg. Mentioned it to the front desk on our way out the next day, and returned late afternoon to find ... no chair. Very disappointing after a busy, tiring day exploring Provence. We called to ask for a chair, and they brought a desk chair -- not a match to the other one in the room in design or comfort. On the way to dinner, we complained to the front desk, and returned to find a different chair -- covered in dust (obviously taken from storage and not a nearby room), still not a match for the other. With the reputation of the hotel, and the prices they charge, you should expect first-class maintenance and service, but you will not find it here.

The location is the best asset of this hotel. It's right next to the Palais de Papes and other main attractions in Avignon. Parking is literally in the same building so very convenient. Staff are helpful and kind. However, we found the value to be poor as the room is shockingly small. We get that it is located in an old town and right in the centre, but we come from Paris and even for us we feel the Superior Room is simply too small for the average family. The bathroom is so cramped it feels like showering on a cruise ship bathroom. Also the cleanliness and maintenance leaves much room for improvement. There are very visible signs of wear and tear in the room and throughout the hotel, like stained carpets, dirty towels, peeling corners, broken lamps, layer of dust on the hairdryer and room amenities... It's a perfectly fine hotel to stay overnight to explore the city and surroudning areas but I'd advise against a longer stay.

I was stranded in M****illes this past June, missed my connecting train to Toulouse. All train seats sold out that day for Toulouse and 2 days for Paris. Rooms were sold out in M****illes, except for 3, ranging from €600 to €3600, so I had to leave. Chose Avignon and got one of the last seats on the train. Saw Palais du Papes online but unable to book because of internet problems, so I took a leap of faith and went there. From the outside it was a bit disappointing but once inside I was greeted by the kindest young man, Herkmit (sorry if his name is misspelled) who helped me get settled in and assisted me with booking a train to Paris. He took such good care of me, and all of his guests, and I cannot say enough good things about him. My room was very clean and large, the largest hotel room I’ve ever been in, and I had a lovely view of the Palais. I’m a senior woman who traveled solo and I have never experienced such kindness and respect as I had received from the French people. And it was especially true in Avignon. Thank you Herkmit.

Wonderful location, right next to Palais des Papes. I splurged for the terrace room and did not regret it. The room itself was fine. However, I did have trouble working the AC, but I was able to remedy it by opening a window. It was nice to see people make their way in and out of the Palais des Papes. The breakfast buffet offered a continental selections with breads, scrambled eggs, and bacon/sausages. There were many restaurants nearby, and even a movie theater. The nearest grocery store is a 10-minute way from the hotel. I bought some water and soda and placed it on the mini-fridge in my room. The concierge was very attentive and gave me a map of the city as part of the welcome and some authentic French restaurant recommendations.

The location was perfect - situated right next to City Hall. The staff was friendly, and we really appreciate the bottle of rose and olive oil as presents to celebrate our anniversary. The room size was petite, but it is on par with the hotel rooms we stayed in France, although the bathroom here was pretty large. There was a bit of a miscommunication with our to-go breakfast, but it got resolved quickly.
