Rogner Bad Blumau

We didn't stay at the hotel. We came to visit the thermal baths. I really liked it. Design - you are immediately immersed in a fairy tale. Friendly staff. Not cheap, but the price includes an unlimited stay, a robe and two towels, which are waiting for you in the locker - large and soft. A variety of swimming pools, a cafe, a restaurant and for all visitors a basket of apples (very nice). Places for drying wet towels. Spa complex (but we didn't use it) We really regretted that we didn't stay at least 2 nights in this hotel. This place is worth a visit.

This spa hotel is our top favourite of all we have ever tried. It is perfect in every way you can think of and no detail is left to chance. The team is so dedicated to make you feel welcome and to do absolutely everything they can for you and then some more - this kind of personal, kind, attentive service without being overbearing, servile or sticky is actually a particular form of hospitality that is really really hard to find. So when you find it you must treasure it and support it - this is why we come to Rogner Bad Blumau time and again - with our family and also without our kids at times. Some of our kids already come with their own partners now by themselves as they have experienced this place's unique charm and hospitality from when they were really young and have at all stages in their lives felt welcome and cherished as guests. The spa itself is gorgeous, there is always something fun and beautiful and colourful to look it - it really is like no other place and it is entirely true when one of their slogans calls the hotel and spa a work of art to walk inside - it really is just that. The spa facilities are fantastic and I am not sure what else one could possibly desire as all your needs and wishes are taken care of. There is also a generosity of hospitality in everything - plenty of towels available at no extra charge, fresh dressing gowns if yours gets too wet, baskets of apples to just take one if you feel like munching on a tasty styrian treat, water with lovely herbs or fruit in the entrance hall, welcome drinks and little good bye treats, water in your room, etc etc etc Everything is just there for you and nobody demands extra payment for things like towels etc - that's so nice and makes you feel cherished, not robbed (like other places). Last but not least the FOOD: Unbelieveably nice, freshly prepared and wholesome, locally sourced wherever possible - there is a huge emphasis on organic/local/fresh/from small producers etc. and it pays dividends - the food is simply amazing and how this place does not already have a michelin star is beyond me - they sure deserve it!!! We had a "Kalbstafelspitz" with polenta on one of our evenings and it was A-MA-ZING!!!! Juicy and tender and so so lovely!!! When I asked for the chef the next morning she was so friendly and kind and explained to me how they get such an amazing result and she was so modest with it - I could not thank her enough, honestly! Right up there with the best meals I have ever had in top restaurants! Also: do not miss the breakfast buffet - its fabulous and there is so much choice you need to stay a few nights just so you can try it all. Do yourself a favour and visit this place - you will most definitely NOT regret coming! Biiiiiiiggggg thank you to the entire Team at ROGNER BAD BLUMAU! WE LOVE YOU SO MUCH!!!!! Zuerst das Positive: Die Saunalandschaft und die Wasserbecken sind sehr schön, das Sportbecken mit Möglichkeit zum Zeitnehmen super. Wir waren unter der Woche hier, dementsprechend war es eher ruhig. Und natürlich die einzigartige Hundertwasserarchitektur (wegen der wir hauptsächlich gekommen sind) - ein Traum. Nur gerade diese wunderschöne Architektur - und jetzt kommt das Enttäuschende - wird komplett versaut (pardon) von der höcht unorigenellen und platten Innengestaltung. Hier hat man wild zusammengewürfelt, was im ländlichen Raum halt als "fancy" gilt: cremefarbene Kunstleder-Barhocker, futuristische Chrome-Designerleuchten, Lichterketten, dazwischen ein paar spirituelle Dekoelemente. Und das in jeder freien Ecke. Ein bisschen Minimalismus hätte gut getan - und den ohnehin schon bunten Stil von Hundertwasser gut zur Geltung gebracht. Hundertwasser selbst ist in dem Haus übrigens eindeutig unterrepräsentiert. Nichts zu seiner Arbeit oder der Entstehungsgeschichte dieses faszinierenden Bauwerks. Ganz anders verhält es sich da mit dem Baumeister, Robert Rogner. Wohin man schaut sein Bild (in Lebensgröße über dem Kamin!), Zitate von ihm, Büsten von ihm, Biografien von ihm in jedem Regal. Das kommt einer Heiligenverehrung gleich, die uns massiv befremdet hat. (Vor allem, weil der Herr noch lebt!) Zu guter Letzt waren auch die Zimmer dem doch gesalzenen Preis nicht angemessen. Sie wurden offenbar seit der Erbauung in den 90ern nicht modernisiert und das sieht man. Das Essen (Buffet) am Abend erinnerte leider ein bisschen an Kantinenessen. Fazit: Therme und Sauna sind super, das Hotel weniger. Insgesamt kein sehr sympathisches Haus und das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis passt nicht wirklich.
