Grand Hotel Smeraldo Beach

On a positive note the hotel was exceptionally clean and the staff very friendly and efficient. The hotel can be a challenge for anyone with mobility issues, there are lots of steps to get to the beach and the pools. A hilly walk to the Baia Sardinia promenade which took 15-20 mins at a slow pace. The breakfast in the hotel was plentiful, lots of options. We booked half board. The dinner in the evening was 4 courses, variable quality and very little in the way of fresh green vegetables. We ate at the excellent restaurant just outside the hotel gates on a number of occasions. I should have done my homework about the surroundings of the hotel, we went in early October and the weather was not conducive to sunbathing on the beach or by the pool for most of our stay. NO issues with getting a sun bed on the sunny days although some of our fellow travellers still felt compelled to save sunbeds with towels from early in the morning. Many of the restaurants in Baia Sardinia were closing for the season - Porto Cervo was almost a ghost town. I'm sure if we had gone 2 weeks earlier our experience would have been different.

We had a wonderful holiday and felt really well looked after. The whole place was so well managed and clean and the staff were incredibly helpful and attentive, we were both delighted with our stay.

Fabulous location and lovely staff. Hotel is dated and needs investment. Breakfast was not good unless you had room service. Biggest issue was people putting towels on chairs at the pool & beach. I expressed my feelings to reception but they do not have a policy. Dining room was canteen like. Such a fabulous location but not at its full potential. It was so near to Baia Sardinia with restaurants & shops which was so nice. Scenery breathtaking. Please take control of the ‘battle of the towels’ with a good management policy. Fabulous little beach and great little coves. Great staff!

Our stay was perfect, the hotel is a traditional style set in an amazing position. It has lovely gardens, lots of small pools, fantastic restaurant and its own private beach. We opted for half board and had a sea view room which was definitely worth the extra money as the view was spectacular. Breakfast was good and the four course evening meals were outstanding with choices of fish, meat and vegetarian options a much better option than the buffets that you would find in most hotels. If you opt for half board you can also swap your evening meal for lunch which we did a couple of times, we thought this was a really nice touch because it gave us chance to try some local restaurants. We would definitely recommend Foodie the restaurant across the road from the hotel. Each evening they had a piano player in the bar which has an amazing terrace overlooking the pools and beach, the cocktails were fab! The service at the hotel was 6* and the staff were polite, friendly and nothing was too much trouble, we particularly loved the restaurant staff and reception team. If you can definitely bring a snorkel as there are lots of little fish to see and if you are thinking of booking a trip the sailboat trip you can book through reception is probably the best boat trip we have ever been on and although it isn’t cheap it was worth every penny. We also caught the bus to Porto Cervo which was easy to do, the bus stop is about a 10 minute walk away located by the park and reception will give you a bus timetable if you ask. There is also a small supermarket, bars, restaurants and an amazing ice cream shop all within walking distance. We saw that a few people on here had struggled to find loungers by the pool but we never found this an issue. We would 110% recommend this hotel and hope to return very soon.

we loved this hotel, quaint and quirky, staff are faultless, breakfast was good. facilities are spotless. the location is amazing.

Fantastic hotel, unbelievable location! Stunning views. Spotless. Wonderful series of multi level nook and cranny sunbathing spots and outdoor pools. Half Board is the best option, 4 course evening meal and dessert a must. Staff all speak very good English and the restaurant staff are super efficient and friendly. A genuine feel good atmosphere amongst the staff who work very well as a team. They enjoy a laugh and joke with the guests, a pleasure to meet them.
