I booked the Saan Hotel to be closer to family. It was my first time staying this side of the river.
Pros:
+ The hotel is brand new and so it is very clean!
+ The staff are lovely, from reception, cleaners to security.
+ The pool is great, and not exposed to people outside of the hotel. (Also see cons for the pool)
+ If you want to be close to the ICONSiam and BTS stations this is the hotel for you. It took me 10 minutes to walk to the IS, I am a slow walker and it was 34 degrees. Walking through the sois (lanes) provided some shade though.
+ I have seen reviews that say the rooms are small. As a solo traveler they were perfect for me and had everything you would expect.
+ Price! It’s so reasonable in comparison to larger chain hotels in the area.
Cons (not really but a few things to think about)
+ Taxis will routinely cancel on you if you are constantly trying to cross the river. The bridge is very busy!
+ The pool is small and often shaded, so if you are looking for a place to hang out all day sunbathing it’s maybe not for you.
+ There is no laundry service, I had been travelling Thailand for a month … but the girls on reception told me about a local place.
+ There are no breakfast options etc. but if you have the Grab App there are lots of options (also within walking distance).
Give this place time, they are still working on the hotel (I didn’t notice any huge noise or problems) … I think it will be a favourite of mine to stay at.
