The Aman Nai Lert Bangkok will open on April 2nd but we had the divine fortune of being able to tour the premises. Many of our group have spent time in multiple Aman hotels and the consensus was that this one may be the absolute best. Divine fortune indeed, as this Aman is a bit of a Garden of Eden, an eden in the middle one of the most kinetic cities in the world. This juxtaposition makes Bangkok more enticing than ever before! On the park grounds, one can have a coffee in a café designed for 3 guests or dine in the Butterfly Room or Caviar Café, also designed for just a handful of people. There are many such enchanting surprises that can be found within this sanctuary. The magic doesn't end at the threshold of the hotel. On the contrary, the harmonics of the park resonate throughout Aman Nai Lert Park Hotel. For instance, there is a magnificent buttressed trunk Sapong Tree (Tetrameles Nudiflora, yes I am a biologist) near the main entrance, whence it extends through the porte-cochère, emanating near the swimming pool on the upper floor with its branches extending over one end of the pool. These elegant harmonics can be found everywhere, from the structural materials, the tables, the wall coverings, the art- there's a breathtaking patinaed bronze and gold sculpture stretching across the candle lit pond near the lobby- stunning! What I loved the most is the effect of some of the high ceilings and long passageways, which created unique vistas of the skyline or the sunset. I don't know if anyone will agree but it was real to me. You have the permanence of these geometrical structures funneling your attention into the distance. You're sort of like walking in the universe. Let me end quickly, as I'm delving too much into an emotional subjective response to this quasi-spiritual experience. But just imagine, the gentle and warm culture of Thailand coupled with Aman's commitment to excellence. How truly divine will this place be?
