Clean and well-maintained hostel. Perfect if you want a calm place to spend the night. The personal are very kind, and the location feels remote, while being in walking distance from Khaosan Road and multiple temples. The hostel does not offer any noteworthy social area or bar/restaurant.

Dreadful experience. Rude, unprofessional staff and entitled owner. Owner too stingy to turn on the AC to make the place habitable for paying customers. Terribly racist, and prejudice. The existing reviews on bookings are misleading and grossly outdated. The owner is male, not female as the hostel name snd old reviews would suggest. Place is run mostly by ”volunteer staff” that are young, rude, ignorant.

We stayed here for 3 nights and we had such a lovely, homely stay, and we couldn’t recommend this place enough. The staff are so caring and kind and they really looked after us. We stayed in a really nice room on the top floor (201) with our own bathroom - some rooms had a shared bathroom but we preferred to have our own and we paid just a small bit more to have this option. Outside our room there was a really nice outdoor area with shade and seating and the place is so nicely maintained and we liked the no shoe policy. A small point was that there wasn’t anywhere to store stuff and so we didn’t unpack but this wasn’t an issue we we were only here for 3 nights. We sadly missed breakfast on two of the mornings that we stayed as we had very early morning tours, but on the first morning of our stay we had a traditional Thai breakfast - Tom kha Kai which was a coconut soup with chicken, lemongrass, galangal and chilli which was absolutely delicious and they gave us some fresh fruit and coffee. The guesthouse is in an alleyway in a residential area and it felt authentic with small local shops and restaurants that we wish we had had more time to visit, and there were chickens and cats wandering around the street and we loved this. The room was quiet and comfortable and we slept really well and it felt safe. It is quite centrally located and a great base for exploring Bangkok. It felt like home from home and wish we had more time to enjoy this quiet oasis. A really comfortable stay.

Myself and 2 friends stayed here for 5 nights and had a lovely time. Spacious room, friendly and helpful staff. 10 minute walk from Koh San Road and also very nearby to lots of beautiful temples/palaces. Very reasonably priced. The one slight downside was the shower door seal not being fully covered so we’d often have a puddle on the toilet floor after showering, but I’m nit picking! Great hotel.

I have been fortunate to be able to travel a lot, and I absolutely love small, unique, boutique hotels ... and Bangkok Publishing Residence has to be one of my absolute favorite hotels I have ever stayed in over the course of my 15+ years of traveling! I cannot find a single thing to fault. The staff is absolutely lovely - helpful but not intrusive, and asked all the right questions to ensure we had a good stay. When I had confusion between the room rates on Booking.com and the rates on their website, they kindly adjusted my room rate to the cheapest one, which they didn't have to do, and it was very very nice of them and very appreciated! Because our flight was too early the next morning to avail ourselves of breakfast, the staff put together a really delicious breakfast to-go that was ready for us at 7 am - scrambled eggs, croissants, smoked salmon, fruit ... they didn't skimp! The decor is amazing, unique, charming, beautiful - it pays homage to its heritage as a publishing house and to its Thai location with gorgeous use of plants and greenery. They have art on the walls and actually tell you who the artist is so that the artist gets credit and you know it's real, it's not just some corporatized print. They have thoughtful, wonderful touches like a game room with arcade games - SO fun!! - and a beautiful, tranquil rooftop with a hot tub that was just a lovely lovely place to hang out. The location is in the middle of everything, but somehow still quiet. They've thought of everything, from earplugs for the road noise (which we didn't find bad at all, so we didn't even use the earplugs) to a basket of yummy snacks in the room, to fruit and juice and great-smelling soaps. The bed was SUMPTUOUS - sank into that thing like a cloud. They didn't skimp on the quality of the bedlinens. The bathroom was spacious and well-decorated, the tub was lovely, the water pressure was good. I would highly, highly recommend this hotel to anyone passing through Bangkok and especially to lovers of unique, small, boutique hotels.
