Stopped at this location for one night. Clean, nice room. Food was good at restaurant and the service there was excellent. Had to be up and on the road early the next day. However, there was a wedding at the hotel that night and their party continued below my room outside at the fire pit. Was awakened at 1:45am with loud voices that I thought were next door. It was the party at the fire pit, 5 floors down. Thought it might wrap up by 2am. At 4am I finally called the front desk to complain. Ruby at the desk, told me that she was unaware of this and she would go out and tell them to stop. At 4:40am, there were no signs that the party was ending. Since I couldn’t sleep, I got up and at 6:15am when I checked out, there were still 8 people at the fire pit with a case of Bud Light continuing to party. Garbage cans overflowing. No one was telling them to leave, so why should they stop? For $269/night, this is not what I anticipated. If you book this IHG, I highly recommend getting a room on the opposite side of the building and on the 5th floor.

My awful experience started when trying to call to book a room. There’s literally no way to just call and get the front desk. Instead I’m forwarded to their call center where someone tried suggestive selling no less than a dozen separate things to me. This was a room for my dads wedding as a place to crash. What should have been a quick call turned into 30 minutes of flowery words and the slowest service I’ve ever had. Were they polite? Absolutely. But it shouldn’t take so long for one booking. My aunt booked a room that smelled like pee. The manager said they didn’t smell anything, but when my aunt returned to the room, one of the couch cushions was ‘mysteriously’ gone. Did they get a discount? Nope. They got the $17 resort fee removed and that’s all. The remote on my tv was also dead, and no one answered the front desk the three times I called to get new batteries. When I checked out and mentioned it, the desk attendant made it seem like my fault for not going downstairs to face to face talk to someone for the batteries. The hotel is dingy, outdated to the point that the carpets look like 80’s roller rink carpeting, and the phone system is the single worst set up program I’ve ever experienced in my life. $350 for a total dump. I’d rather stay in a motel 8 next time.

Cemerlang

Very pleasant surprise! Our son and daughter-in-law, previous tenants in the West Loop of Chicago, purchased a house in Plainfield, IL in the fall. We were sad to leave our West Loop Homewood Suites/Hampton Inn property just off West Randolph Street, but understood the young couple's need for a house in the suburbs with a baby on the way. The Home2 Suites was a well-managed property. Breakfast was superior to the typical Hampton Inn, but not quite Homewood Suites level. The staff was amazing, and the location was great for us; less than 5 miles to the new house. My spouse liked the fitness center as did our older son, a hardcore fitness person and his wife, a triathlon competitor. If a property can, please those 2, the fitness center is in great shape. There are many restaurants in the near vicinity. Due to the property's location on the edge of a local mall , there is not much street noise at night. Quite a change from a near West Loop location with constant ”road races”, sirens and train noises throughout the night. We will miss the West Randolph Street restaurants. We will not miss the noise, the increasing number of ”unhoused people” and security issues.

DdambankerStayed here for a night. Our room was clean and comfortable as one would expect from this chain. The standout item for me was the rubber duck in the bathroom. I thought it was very odd and cute at the same time. I asked the staff about and they said they found that so many people feel joy out of it. In short the real standout is the staff here. Very friendly and they really wanted to make people's day. The rubber ducks are just the symbol for it. Would stay here again and I highly recommend it.

PPengguna TetamuOverall good experience. Overnight for business. Located in decent area. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We stayed in a ground floor room facing the parking lot - away from interstate. Room was clean and quiet. We did notice a stain on our secondary blanket after it was turned back. It was small and dark - looked like a dried blood stain. We removed the blanket and inspected the rest of the bed and it was very clean. In the early a.m. We experienced a brief but horrible sewer smell coming from our bathroom. But no other issues. In room coffee pack sucks - pretty horrible tasting. Bring your own if you can.

Let’s start with what I liked: the room, and hotel in general, was clean, peace and quiet at night, good value for money, good choice of breakfast daily & friendly staff. Our room also had a desk, microwave, minibar, hair dryer; complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap; housekeeping every 2 days. What I didn’t like: There are no shelves in the bathroom so I’m constantly coming out of the bathroom to get what I’ve forgotten to take with me. The only available space is the towel rack and the toilet tank lid. The towel rack is right above the toilet bowl so you HAVE to close the toilet cover whenever you flush and then when you open it you got to make sure your towel doesn’t touch the toilet cover! I hope the management looks into moving the towel rack and installing shelves since the bathroom is quite spacious without the sink and any shelves inside to take up space. Check in was a breeze even though we arrived quite late at night. We had to cut our trip to Illinois short as well but there was no fuss or penalties for that and we really appreciate it. If you’re looking at several properties in the Joliet/Plainfield area, I would recommend you to stay here!

PPengguna TetamuI stayed at the property before Christmas and I never stayed at a property where the GM has been so visable during our stay. I stayed 5 nights at the hotel and I saw him every morning talking to any guest in the breakfast area and I spoke with him all 5 days and always remembered what I told him from the previous day. The staff is a reflection of his leadership and I wish I could steal him to my company because I can see firsthand how much he cares about the property and his employees. The desk associate I checked in and out with was very friendly even during her explanation on COVID restrictions at the hotel. Even though this property is following restrictions, the staff seems to go out of their way to please their guests. A better place to stay than a full Marriott hotel where you are just a name on a screen to them.
