PPengguna TetamuWe stayed 3 nights. Very nice, friendly staff, but not one of the maids whom we encountered spoke a word of English. So we had to ask the desk for extra blankets. On each queen-sized bed, they had four pillows, with the pillowcases marked ”soft” and ”firm” - a nice touch. We skipped room service our first morning, but then they forgot us the second morning. There was no extra roll of TP, so we picked one out of a service cart. The breakfast was pretty standard for that level of hotel. But the first morning's oatmeal was so watery as to be unedible. I complained to the woman running the dining area (she was a native English speaker), and she was sympathetic. The next morning was better, under the supervision of a man who had known of my complaint, and he made it much better. From my standpoint, the eggs, prepared from a mix of some sort (I'm sure), were unedible. The coffee was low quality and very weak. But then, we make very strong coffee at home, recently dark-roasted. So we rarely drink the available swill when out. Starbucks is just barely for us, and we did find more than one nearby. The gym was surprisingly well-equipped for that level of hotel: multiple treadmills, a semi-recumbent bike, a cable machine, hand weights, workout mats, large-diameter rubber ball, bosu ball, rollers. Also, plenty of workout towels, some chilled in a small fridge. Chilled water dispenser but no cups. My wife and I were able to work out for an hour a day - nobody else ever showed up. Nice restaurant, the Capitol Bistro & Bar, was a 90-second walk across a parking lot on the same side of Merriman Road. Excellent waitress, very good soup and salad, good, local craft IPA (with a chilled glass), wines upscale enough to keep my wife happy. Other patrons reported their burgers and other meat dishes excellent - all huge portions.
