Hotel Cavour Et des Officiers

The hotel is located on the top of an old fortified town, overlooking a rugged valley. Absolutely awesome for a one day stop .. but probably too small for a long stay unless you make day excursions. Getting to the hotel is already an adventure. From the parking lot you take an elevator, after that three steep funiculaires with stunning views, then another elevator and inside the hotel yet another elevator. Each time the views beat the previous one. The rooms are large, beautiful and very affordable (especially out of season). Very good breakfast included in the rate. The town has a few nice restaurants (nothing fancy) within reasonable walking distance. It is small enough to be seen in half a day, hence my comment about a one day stopover.

Great experience staying at the fort. Parking was easy and access to the hotel is via 4 lifts. All the staff were helpful. Or room was big and well furnished. Good opportunity to visit some of the fort’s museums. We borrowed electric bikes to explore the nearest villages and find a restaurant for dinner. Breakfast was provided in the cafeteria and was delicious.

We only spent one night in this hotel, and it is surely an experience we will not forget in a hurry. As a military history buff I was intrigued to visit this hotel, located as it is within the walls of an Italian C19 fortress. Unfortunately, due to health and car problems we did not arrive in the best of spirits having endured a journey from hell, (due also to our Satnav deciding to throw ‘a wobbly’ that day), resulting in our not arriving at the hotel until 8pm. Nevertheless, having phoned the ever courteous and helpful Deborah warning her of our late arrival, things did not turn out too badly. However, be aware that access to this property is not exactly simple or for the faint hearted. Having driven up a multi-storey car park with very narrow roadways, you are then confronted with the prospect of ascending not one but five lifts in order to eventually reach our room at the top of the fort. A task not to be taken on lightly with cumbersome luggage. The conversion from fortress to hotel has been achieved to an extraordinary degree, with reception rooms, lounges and bedrooms all tastefully, if a little clinically, decorated. We occupied a junior suite which was very comfortable, with spacious bedroom, good sized bathroom (with bathtub), together with a small lobby and smaller room with an additional single bed. The view from the window and small balcony of the mountains and valley below was truly breath-taking. However, the site’s functions are a little quirky as it is trying to balance both being a tourist attraction and a hotel at the same time. Breakfast was a little disappointing as effectively what you are offered is the site cafeteria with a few concessions to what you might expect at that time of day. Also, for somewhere so remote, it is unfortunate that there is no restaurant. The reception is only open for limited hours. So, if you want something different, in a fantastic mountain retreat – if a little quirky – give it a go. The memory will stay with you, whatever your experience.

L'hotel è situato nel forte , proprio alla sommità. La vista è stupenda, una posizione veramente eccezionale. Per arrivarci bisogna salire alcuni ascensori panoramici bellissimi. Nel corpo centrale hanno ricavato 11 camere. La mia era spaziosa e confortevole, arredamento minimale. Buono il rapporto qualità/prezzo Personale molto gentile e premuroso.

Questo hotel si trova in un luogo suggestivo all’interno di un piccolo borgo dall’aspetto fiabesco. Le camere sono confortevoli e pulite. La colazione ottima è varia dove trovate la signora Manuela pronta a servirvi con gentilezza e disponibilità . Alla reception trovate la signora Cinzia preparata e disponibile. Consiglio di vivere questa esperienza.

Più che un soggiorno è stata un'esperienza suggestiva. Dormire all’interno del Forte, sapendo che a partire dalla chiusura dei battenti solo gli ospiti dell’hotel, grazie al badge rilasciato all’atto del check in, possono muoversi al suo interno, è stato davvero intrigante e affascinante. La camera davvero grande, arredata in stile moderno ma sobrio con un corretto richiamo all’essenzialità militare, l’abbiamo trovata accogliente e pulita. Grande anche il bagno cieco sullo stesso stile della camera. Molto bella la sala comune in fianco alla reception e a disposizione degli ospiti per concedersi in tutto relax un caffè, un the o una tisana. La colazione è servita nella caffetteria del forte e pur non avendo una scelta particolare di prodotti a buffet, offre una discreta possibilità tra dolce e salato compreso anche alcuni piatti espressi. Servizio al tavolo per le bevande. La reception è gestista dai dipendenti della pro loco che, rispetto anche a altri hotel di categoria superiore, gestiscono il Check in e check out con cordialità e gentilezza prodigandosi per fornire le informazioni utili per il soggiorno del cliente e intervengono per cercare di risolvere, come nel nostro caso, anche fuori orario di lavoro alcuni problemi occorsi durante il soggiorno (che non ci permettono di dare il massimo dei voti). Durante la notte non è attivo il servizio, tuttavia è presente la vigilanza notturna. Un plus il parcheggio gratuito per gli ospiti dell’hotel ai piedi del forte (per raggiungere la reception in cima alla fortezza sono a disposizione piccoli ascensori panoramici) e lo sconto sulle visite agli interni del forte, ai musei e al bookshop. Molto buono il rapporto qualità prezzo. Ci torneremo.
