During our stay in room 202, we found the staff to be pleasant; however, the hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment. The lack of bedside power outlets made it inconvenient to charge devices overnight. In this day and age, charging for Wi-Fi seems outdated. The bedding was subpar, with visible stains and sheets so thin they barely qualified as blankets. Heating was provided solely by an electric radiator, as there was no central heating. The mattress was old, sinking in the middle, and you could feel the springs, leading to an uncomfortable sleep. Additionally, the soap dispenser in the shower was non-functional. The room’s cleanliness was acceptable but not outstanding; the bathroom corners could have used more attention. The TV was outdated, lacking internet capabilities. Dining options were available on-site, but the quality left much to be desired. Accessing the hotel on foot from the village was hazardous, requiring either walking on the road or traversing a muddy patch of grass. The proximity to a busy petrol station resulted in considerable noise. Additionally, the welcome email mentioned Millbrook as the nearest train station, but there were no taxis or public transport options from there to the hotel, necessitating a 1.5-mile walk with luggage. The staff did their best with the resources available, but it’s evident that Travelodge needs to invest in significant upgrades to enhance the guest experience.
