We loved our stay here! It’s a very well designed hotel, with a special history and lots of unique touches throughout. Our room overlooked the river, and had all the usual things you expect from a nice hotel plus some excellent artworks. The only thing to note is that even though this is a spa hotel, the spa isn’t included in the hotel rate- we hadn’t realised that that needed to be booked separately. There were no issues fitting us in though!

Lovely hotel it great location. Stains and hair on bed when we came into our room and the bathroom door was broken and wouldn’t close. We was also questioned into paying there for our room when it was already paid for. Don’t expect this with the price you pay to stay here.

Lovely old hotel, but the ******* room seemed to be directly over the pub and we were disturbed by loud music in the middle of the night.

The hotel was beautiful. Amazing location on the embankment, and central for the town. We had Afternoon Tea which was delicious, followed by a few drinks in the bar. The hotel was full, plus a wedding which meant parking wasn’t possible , but there is an NCP a short walk away. Staff very efficient , lovely rooms.

The hotel was very nice all the amenities you need but outside the property on a gloomy day of rain was disappointing. The river would be nice in the summer but the rest of the street was a dump. No really nice places to eat they all looked like real dives.

The hotel communal spaces are beautiful, very well presented and lovely decor. The restaurant was excellent and really good food and the breakfast was excellent value for money. The spa is lovely, 2 hours was perfect. It looks like it is quite new and really nice facilities. Only thing is there cpuld be a few more seats, but totally minor. Our room was nice, the bathroom really lovely, but the room a little tired. Our problem was a window that didnt close - in february! So our room was freezing. We reported it to the front desk and nothing was done, when we came out the spa we checled with the manager on duty who knew nothing about it. He was very good, came to room to investigate and realised window was clearly broken. Problem was the hotel was full so they couldnt move us! He made a fix of some towels and we kept the curtains closed and cranked up the heating. Not ideal but we lade the most of it best we could and he said he would sort out a refund. Upon checking out my refund was £16! I said this was not acceptable for a room with a broken window in february and the guy eventually gave me a proper refund for the room. Luckily this didnt spoil our stay but it could have been a lot worse, i guess we were just a little unfortunate that the hotel was full and we couldnt be moved. As i said the manager on the saturday night was great and did everything he could to try and make the situation better.

Clean and bed is comfortable, but reception not always staffed (although stafff are friendly) and sound proofing is poor. House keeping also tried to enter our room in the morning of check out day when we were asleep, instead of waiting a couple hours later till we have checked out, so some internal system wasn't working...

Hotel was lovely but the lack of parking spaces or nearby parking was a difficult. Breakfast style was basic and notvreally in keeping with the hotel. Disappointed to find you had to pay to use the spa.

The value is really good. Beautiful rooms, lots of tea/ coffee/milk in room and biscuits. Can’t fault. Parking really good.

We spent 4 nights at this hotel - of which two nights we had no heat. The first night we were offered an extra quilt and after three phone calls the next day a small heater was brought in. No compensation was offered for the fact we had no heat for these two nights even after a request was made. We found the waitresses in the lounge and restaurant were very friendly but the bartender and hostess were actually rude! I would not recommend this hotel for these reasons.

Unfortunately, this was not a good visit. The hotel had a problem with their heating (although this was only admitted on the morning we left). As a result our room was cold and we had to make do with extra old blankets they provided for us

During my stay, the hotel was having problems with the heating. I explained how cold my room was, I was told they had been having problems with the heating for the past 6 days. No one had bothered to contact me in advance to warn me, giving me the option to book somewhere else and simply told me it was being worked on and there wasn't anything they could do. They did not offer any additional heating, and even the "apology" did not come across as sincere. It was delivered without empathy or concern and a "it's not my fault" attitude. Apart from the heating, my room was comfortable. I had booked 3 rooms for 5 adults and 1 infant. 2 of the adults who were due to stay with me did not attend due to illness. I was glad because although the beds were double, they were very small so I would not have been comfortable sharing the bed. My room had a stained carpet and the deadlock on the door did not work. After going out, I returned, at midnight, but there were no parking spaces. I spoke to someone in reception to ask where I could park and was directed to a Local Authority car park which was some way away - this meant that I would have to walk back unaccompanied - as a single female, I found this completely unacceptable. (bearing in mind I had booked 3 rooms, I would have expected to have at least 1 parking space). I had to ask my daughter to leave her baby with her elderly grandmother and come with me. (still not ideal). Staff did not care.
