Stayed 3 nights in king size bed room
Expectation/Reality: expectations were not initially met. The room looked like the photos, however felt much smaller in real life. A western brand come with higher expectations which were not met. The AC cannot be controlled by the guest, you must ask the front desk to change it. The toilet operation is novel for a foreigner and requires some initial investigation.
Security: no concerns. 5th floor of building, 24/7 desk, no safe in room.
Hygiene: the room I received had a critical stench of sewage in it. The fan and the air conditioning did not alleviate the smell. There was no other room available and I stayed one night in that room and got no sleep. It was like sleeping in a public bathroom. Other than this issue it was clean.
Hospitality: the attendants were about as helpful as they could be, and once I switched to a room after the first night it was better. Although there is still a slight sewage smell in the new room with a window, it was less noticeable and not worth the fuss. The attendants did the best they could and were professional about it.
Social Atmosphere: none really, you can smoke in the lobby. There’s a good coffee shop on the ground floor.
Overall: the sewage smell made for a very challenging stay. I have higher expectations for the super 8 brand.
