Hotel Bien Etre la Glycine

This was our last night in France before coming home. We chose this hotel because of its closeness to Ouistram . It’s a lovely little hotel/restaurant. The rooms are in two places. There is a new block just across the road or rooms in the main building. Our room was just across the road . It was clean and comfortable but a little bit basic but ok for one night . We ate in the restaurant that evening and the food was delicious. They have set menus or you can choose A’ la cart . My only criticism and it’s a small one is that the staff don’t speak much English. We tried to talk French but things got lost in translation. I would have thought because of the closeness to the Normandy beach’s they would have been a bit more bilingual Considering they must have a lot of English people staying there. No real problem but something to think about. Breakfast was very traditional continental style and very nice it was to . Overall a nice place to stay.

Fairly ordinary hotel..clean and adequate rooms. Car park at rear. Staff not very engaging...don't expect any English to be used. Impersonal and not that friendly. A good restaurant serving good food....if a little overpriced. No aircon so with windows open a little noisy. Suited our needs...one night is OK.....

With just a 10 minute drive from the ferry port this is an ideal location for touring around the various Museums and War Memorials in this area. The staff are very friendly, food, breakfast and evening meals, tasty and the restaurant, foyer and rooms all very clean and tidy.

We have stayed at La Glycine a few times choosing to stay overnight before catching the morning ferry from Ouistreham. The rooms are clean and comfortable with good car parking. The main attraction is their fabulous restaurant. The food is always excellent and of a very high standard. Can highly recommend it.

Upon arrival at least 6 rooms were not ready for occupation and one even had someone asleep in the bed.. this despite the fact they knew we were arriving in the afternoon. It took nearly two hours to get every one settled in which included moving at least 6 couples to an adjacent closed hotel part of the La Glycine. Would never recommend this hotel to anyone as there attitude gave us the impression we were not wanted. It took several minutes of haggling on the day of departure with the sudden appearance of the supposed Manager who had kept in the background while the problems were eventually sorted out, culminating in a discount of over €300 due to the grief we had over this booking. Such a shame as it left a bad taste on what was otherwise a great weekend away. So be weary of large bookings in this Hotel.

The hotel was …..fine. Nothing spectacular. I suggest most guests use it to break the journey south after disembarking the ferry and visa versa. Don’t expect any English to be spoken. When I visited the reception staff could not understand English and made little attempt to. They were ‘friendly enough’ as only French could be. The room was a little noisy early morning with guests leaving for the ferry. Positive. The bed was very comfortable and the shower maybe the best shower I have ever used. It is poorly served by public transport. You really need a car to stay here and visit Normandy historical sites, of which there are many

Tout est beau, restaurant génial, chambre extra... Personnel adorable, parfait pour visiter tous les lieux importants du Débarquement...

Choisi pour sa situation géographique, l'hôtel la Glycine nous a ravis. La chambre (surclassée) était douillette. L'accueil et l'espace restauration très cosy. Le petit déjeuner était copieux et très complet. Le personnel était très aimable. Le jardin planté de palmiers est très bien entretenu. Nous reviendrons aux beaux jours.

Nous sommes retournés en Novembre 2023 dans ce restaurant que nous avons longtemps côté parmi les meilleurs. Cela n'a plus rien à voir. Foie gras trop cuit,filet de bœuf dur,bizarre pour du filet.... Nous n'y retournerons pas. Très déçus s1uf la cavé qui est restée très bien et la présentation des plats Oublions tout le reste
