Hotel berhampiran Berlin Hirschgarten railway station, Berlin

We were left a little confused about this hotel. My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights visiting family close by hence the reason we had to stay in this area. We had mixed feelings about the hotel but I would stay again. It appears this hotel belongs to a chain of hotels. I suspect that the write up of this hotel on booking sites is generic to cover all of their hotels. The internet shows it has a restaurant and considering the guests can come from anywhere, the word restaurant means different things to different people. In this case it meant the breakfast room and not somewhere you could have lunch and dinner. However the Italian restaurant next door Il Nouvo is amazing. I had emailed on two occasions previously to ask whether or not they supply any type of transfer from the airport as it is quite expensive. I never received a response. That was disappointing. I don't necessarily know if the request goes to his hotel or to the head office but it is poor poor service. We booked directly through the hotel, and it was reasonably priced for the area and included breakfast. On arrival we were treated great and service was great. There is a nice seating area in the foyer and at reception there is water with lemons for guests as well as a fruit bowl full of fruit. I note that staffing changed regularly at the desk within the time we were there so service wasn't always consistent. I'm not sure if there is an employment issue as we were told that some staff weren't familiar with the hotel as they were from another site. At one point I went to get a water, this may be trivial for some, but it hadn't been filled for a day. There were just lemons sitting on the bottom. I did ask reception if I could get some water. She filled it but it was the same lemons that had been there for 3 days. I note the next day it was refreshed. The bar which has drinks available was another mixed feeling. The reception staff operated the bar, it was situated behind them. I don't think it's their fault but they didn't know some of the drinks that were on the menu nor did they know how to make some of the drinks. One find young man was going to make an Aperol Spritz, with orange juice, as this is what the recipe said. We stopped him from doing that. There was a great little sparking drink they ran out of which was never replenished. Some of the drinks on their list, they didn't have. When a wanted a small sparkling wine, first time I was charged for the bottle and provided with the glass and the small bottle. Second time round served by a different staff member he poured me a drink and charged me the bottle price but kept half of it. Again, I don't think it's their fault, it's some sort of lack of training. This doesn't take away from their kindness and their effort. The hotel is a convention hotel and the convention centers are huge and great for events. There are lots of restaurants to choose from, but the hours are incorrect and the employees at the desk do not know the hours of the restaurants…so good luck! We stayed in wing 2 and there are 3 elevators, q of which is not on. Unfortunately the elevators may take 15 minutes to pick you up. If they aren’t overly full. The rooms are what would be 3-stars in the US. They are very small, but mostly clean. The amenities are average at best, but not good compared to comparable hotels in Europe. Honestly, I’d not choose to stay here again. The people are friendly, but the hotel is lacking in quality and customer service.

Pillows very flat and non existent. Some of staff attitude were something to be desired. Beyond basic amenities in the room. €4 for bottle of water in room crazy when vending machine downstairs €2 for water. Didn’t make it easy to redeem incentive for not using housekeeping. Safe in room didn’t work

This hotel has had a revamp and is now called the Art Hotel, Park Plaza. There is another Park Plaza nearby…..we ended up there first! So don’t get confused!! Once you find this hotel….we arrived on the day of a national strike… it’s fab. Ignore the journey planner…. This hotel is a less than 10 min walk from the western end of the U1 line. The room we had was on 5th floor on a quite busy street, but it was so quiet we didn’t realise it until we looked out of the window the following morning. The bed and pillows were so comfortable, a great night sleep was had by us both. Shower was a big rainfall type with a smaller head shower head option if you wanted. Complimentary Elemis shower gel, hand wash, as well as body lotion. Breakfast was worth every penny as part of your B&B option. Otherwise it’s €18 for a full option or €5 for coffee and a croissant in the bar. Breakfast was fresh, pastries, cheese, meats, toast, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, pancakes, cereals, yoghurts; you could make your own fresh juice from fresh veggies & fruits. Coffee was excellent (I was told)…. I took my own teabags as I am very fussy, and made great tea. There is a spectacular hot water urn……that is very ornate and was awesome. Staff were multilingual and very helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very insightful about the local area, and the available public transport options. I would highly recommend this hotel which has pop art throughout. We are planning to head back to visit Berlin again and we will most certainly stay here again.

a budget hotel with budget facilities. I expected nothing more and nothing less. In my experience it is what it says in the description. The location is good, close to a metro station and within walking distance of checkpoint Charlie. The hotel had a nice bar area adjoining the check in desk. With a comfortable place to sit down. The bed is very soft though in a twin room they are too close together. The hotel offers AC in the hotel room and a radiator for towels in the bathroom. However the AC is a bit week, so give yourself plenty of time to cool down before you sleep.

Exceptional quirky pod hotel…. more a pod hotel than a hostel although it has that friendly social hostel feel with the other guests. A really unusual theme which many others checking in remarked on how cool it was. There’s screens showing a planet or stars moving down each corridor to add to the space station feel. The pods are very comfortable with the novelty of different lighting. Folding table, charge points, mirror, clock etc. The doors lock as you close them making you feel very secure and needs a button pressing to open them again (shall we open the airlock captain haha). It really does feel like many sci-fi movies or console games. The washrooms are the cleanest most luxurious I’ve seen in a shared place. More like a corridor with individual private bathrooms you can lock yourself in. Modern dark tiling and very clean. Wi-Fi is good as we’d expect/demand. Local area felt safe and was a manageable walk for someone fit to the Brandenburg Gate for example at half an hour. Checkpoint Charlie area is really near to give an orientation. There’s a Lidl nearby for eats and great range of beers. Not hard to find restaurants though. Buses go outside and regularly. One negative, the upper pods are accessed by floating stairs and a handle to pull yourself up with. It can be a little tricky and completely unsuitable for anyone infirm.

The breakfast was excellent. I drink tea a lot and there were a variety of tea I could choose and I could choose to brew a cup or a pot of tea. They served different kind of eggs, including omelets. The room is very clean and well equipped with coffee maker and kettle.

I have stayed there for 5 nights. Wadorf Berlin is still good but not excellent anymore. They did not renew the hotel at the covid era, carpets at the floors and rooms are very old. Also furnitures in the room are worn out. They used to have turn down service but not anymore, they don't even put a piece of chocolate to your pillow for the night. Location is great, in the midlle of shopping and very close to metro. Reception and conciage was the best part. they are really good, they also found a free table for me at Grill Royal which I could not do for 15 days. Breakfast was good but not excellent again. For a Waldorf experience I was expecting a better breakfast, a turndown service and better maintained rooms. Beside this everything was great.
