Please do not stay here. The staff is rude and the room they provided us was infested with flies on the ceiling (see attached photos). We asked for our money back so that we could stay elsewhere, and they refused. We still went somewhere else despite the $150 loss because the room was that gross. I'm surprised to see this hotel has good reviews because based on my experience, it was horrendous.

We found this hotel in the Rough Guide to Berlin and it was a perfect base for our three day stay, central enough but a quieter, residential neighbourhood packed with character. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. We hope to return next year!

I stayed in Hotel Johann for 10 days in April and May and simply loved it. I had a single room facing the courtyard and it was perfect for me. The room wasn’t big, but well organised, the bed (linen, pillows and mattress) very comfortable, and maybe the best thing was to be able to open the two windows in several different ways, listening to the birds singing, and getting a good nights sleep having an open window. The breakfast was fantastic, a good choice of several healthy choices, and the personal nice and helpful. If you are a biker, it’s a good thing that you can keep your bike in the locked courtyard during the night.

This is a bijou hotel that is very near the centre of Berlin. We were arriving late and they gave us a code and instructions how to obtain our key and operate the drawer at the entrance to the hotel where our key and room number would be found. The instructions sent to us were very clear and accompanied with photographs of the entrance etc. I must admit that we were a little bothered but needn’t have been. We had no trouble at all. The room was large and had an en-suite walk-in shower etc. which was quite large. The bed was very large and came with separate duvet’s. Wardrobe, TV, power sockets in abundance and Wi-Fi available . Very clean indeed. Breakfast was continental and self service with everything you’d hope for. The staff were exceedingly helpful and spoke perfect English. They do not offer dinner in the evening but there are plenty of restaurants near at hand. There is a small bar with comfortable seating. There isn’t a lift, only stairs. The staff are exceedingly helpful and will telephone for taxis etc as part of the service. It’s in a very pleasant area and very quiet and most things are within walking distance. There is an outside eating area as well.

Lovely friendly family run hotel in quiet residential street very close to the canal. The rooms are stylish, super clean and comfortable. The shower room was great....best shower I have had in years ! Nothing was too much trouble and the breakfast was plentiful and DELICIOUS! Can't wait to return.

Had a fantastic stay at hotel Johann. The beds are big and comfortable and the room was really large with high ceilings. The bathroom’s look like they’d been recently done (upgraded from the photos on here) and were lovely and modern, the shower especially was huge and the water pressure the best I’ve had in Europe. Room was really clean and there’s a small fridge in the room which was handy. Also a good location, felt quite residential and quiet but a short walk to lots of cafes and restaurants, and a ten minute walk to the ubahn where all the sights are only a short journey away. Only thing I’d change is that rather than a double duvet there are two single duvets, which I think is standard in Germany but not the comfiest. Didn’t have breakfast so can’t comment on that. Staff are all lovely and very helpful, would really recommend staying here

Hotel con un grande stile sia nelle parti comuni che nella nostra (grande) camera. Si capisce che nella ristrutturazione e nell'arredamento c'è stato un pensiero molto creativo che ha tenuto conto sia della tradizione che della modernità, oltre che della comodità. Si trova in una strada tranquilla nella quale è facile trovare parcheggio senza dover pagare. Ha un giardino interno dove ci si può comodamente rilassare. Offre colazione, da pagare a parte, con un buon rapporto qualità/prezzo. Il personale (da citare in particolare Elisa) è cordiale e gentile e disponibile a dare ogni informazione utile. Molto consigliato perchè ha un'anima e una sua grande personalità.

2 chambres réservées pour 3 nuits. Surprise, le ménage des chambres n’a pas été fait durant la totalité de notre séjour ….. J’en ai fait la remarque au responsable au moment de régler ma facture. Réponse dudit responsable :,il fallait demander à la réception ! Du jamais vu ! Et pourtant je me suis déjà rendu à plusieurs reprises dans cet hôtel et jamais un seul souci. Résultat des courses : 4% de remise après moultes palabres …. Pas un mot d’excuse ! Bonjour tristesse 😢

2 Jahre bin ich beruflich mehrmals nach Berlin gereist und immer in einer der großen Ketten abgestiegen. Diesmal hatte ich wegen dem Feiertag Schwierigkeiten ein Zimmer zu bekommen, und habe mich daher für das Hotel Johann in Kreuzberg entschieden. Von außen macht das Hotel wirklich nicht viel her. Ein etwas trister roter Bau mitten in einer Wohngegend. Um so überraschter war ich als ich auf mein Zimmer kam. Sehr modern ausgestattete, große und saubere Zimmer. Ein sehr schönes Bad, auch hier groß, ansprechendes Design, sehr sauber. Besonders war aber in meinem Zimmer die Decke. Dort hat man die alte Gewölbedecke aus roten Backstein gelassen. das gibt dem Zimmer eine ganz tolle Atmosphäre. Das Frühstück war auch in Ordnung. Ggü. vom Hotel gibt es einen Parkplatz, man kann aber auch mit etwas Glück an der Straße parken. Sehr freundliches Personal. Also ein echter Geheimtipp.
