My husband and I had a two night stay last week as this hotel is an ideal location for Holy Island. Unfortunately we could only stay one night as my Husband became ill. We experienced such genuine kindness from the hotel staff. Above and beyond the call of duty. A massive shout out to Lynne as nothing was too much trouble. Food amazing too. It’s a hidden gem.

Check in straightforward and a warm welcome. Very comfortable and clean room with lovely garden view. Dinner was delicious and service very good. Breakfast was worth the wait - very tasty. Definitely recommend the Serene Sundays offer as good value.

A lovely setting, with a beautiful view from a lovely clean and comfy bedroom. The food was excellent and very well presented and the friendliness of the staff was outstanding. the meals occasionally took a little while to arrive, but were delicious. A very relaxing and caring environment.

The hotel is set in a nice location and car parking is good. The interior refurbishment is generally good with some surprising oversights - the toilet seat was the cheapest plastic it's possible to buy, and while shower fittings were good the water was warm rather than hot and the bathroom fan rattled disturbingly noisily. The restaurant was the biggest let-down. Generally the service was austere and peculiar. We'd booked a table for 7:30 then were asked to arrive 15 minutes before the booking so canapes could be served (begging the question why this couldn't just be built into the restaurant schedule). We duly arrived at 7:15 then waited until 7:50 to receive the (pre-prepared) canapes. As the service was so slow we decided to cut our losses and miss our starters (which we had planned to have). Mains arrived about 8:30; the medium- rare steak I'd requested was well-done - a shame as the steak was good. The chips were soft and the size of jenga blocks - no triple-cooked crispiness here 🙁. Worse the fat used to fry them was stale and needed replacing. The batter on the fish was soggy and the fish itself dry. We decided against desserts. Breakfast service was equally slow and charmless - indeed we had to leave the table to ask if we could order. The fried bread was inedibly greasy, and the mushroom tasted of fish - no doubt both fried in the same fat as the night before. There's so much that could be good about this hotel, but it doesn't get near to achieving the standards it seems to think it has attained.

What an absolute joy it was to visit the Manor House. We had a lovely time and our family and friends all had a ball. Our son got married in the grounds and the staff of the hotel could not have been any more attentive and respectful to us all. They made the visit all the better especially as they were all as fun as we like to think we are! The rooms were spotless, the views, the gardens, the weather, the food and the atmosphere were perfect for us all. We could not recommend this place enough and if you are intending to visit the area definitely aim to have a meal or a stay in the hotel. I would recommend booking the meal if you are staying, as we foolishly didn't, but the wedding food was delicious. Many thanks to you all for making the weekend very special.

This hotel is set in stunning grounds. The hotel is beautiful, everything you need for a relaxing stay is on hand. It is close to Berwick Upon Tweed and to the sea. The staff are all wonderful, they are so friendly and helpful. We hope to return and stay again very soon.

Great room with fab views in a beautiful location. The staff were great - friendly and helpful. A lovely all round stay. The venue was beautiful and clean offering a relaxing stay in the country but a short distance from Berwick-upon-Tweed and it's great range of restaurants.

The staff were very friendly and helpful staff. Lovely room and good location. The food in the restaurant was a bit pricy and although it was lovely on the first night stay the food on the second evening in the restaurant was not worth what we paid for it.

Expected more given the reviews. Room was okay not quite as on website. Bathroom great. Bed could use a new mattress and mattress cover cheap. Dinner was fabulous and staff attentive. Breakfast big disappointment…….granola was muesli. Spouse’s kippers tough!
