Sonesta ES Suites Birmingham Homewood

This hotel is so dirty and dusty! They need to clean from top to bottom and renovate. It was dust everywhere, carpet had stains, tub didnt drain. I would never stay at a Sonesta again! It seemed like a halfway house.

Loved our stay here. Nice spacious room, with full-sized refrigerator, microwave and sofa bed. Breakfast was very good. Pleasant staff.

Absolutely beautiful & very comfortable place. Front desk personnel were very friendly & accommodating! Breakfast was delicious!

Every room is a suite with a kitchen. Suites were spacious. Bed comfortable. Breakfast was provided- included breakfast sandwiches, grits, yogurt, fruit, bagels, tea and coffee, apple and orange juice

The suite was very nice and roomy; we could have even cooked in the room. It was very clean and wheelchair accessible. A few things were a bit dated, and that was not a problem. BUT the mattress was hard and lumpy, and that is why I haven't booked there again.

The complex feels like an old apartment complex. The hallway to the room smelled like a nursing home. The room, although quite large, felt like an office building. The floor was all wood-looking laminate, making it rather uncomfortable to walk on. No carpet or area rug to give it some comfort and personality. When you get out of the shower your feet land on the potentially dirty floor. I had one tiny bar of soap that disintegrated in the shower. The food at breakfast was terrible.

We travel a lot, stay at nice hotels, and this was the cleanest / neatest property we've stayed at. Our room was very comfortable, and well stocked with amenities, as well as dishes, pots & pans, etc. We stayed only a night but this hotel would be perfect for a long term stay. Breakfast was very good, and the staff was very friendly and professional. Will definitely chose this hotel if we stay in the area again. Good value for the price...

Everything was amazing!! Best hotel I've ever stayed in, especially for the price!!

Property is in a great location and lobby is very nice. We didn't swim but the pool and courtyard looked very nice too. Our room was comfortable as were the beds. The beauty of this property for us (family of 5) was the two bedroom suites. We had 2 queen beds and a pull out couch which was really nice. There were some cleanliness and maintenance things in the room but nothing serious. The re-fillable shampoo, conditioner, and body wash bottles had some built up dirt or mildew on them. Bathroom door didn't latch when closed. All in all, we would come back. The biggest thing we were put off by was the breakfast. We stayed Friday night into Saturday, one of the reasons we picked this location was the free breakfast and the 2 room suites. Well breakfast on Saturday ends at 8:30am, which for a family coming for a weekend is worthless. We are getting up around 8-8:30am on Saturday. You might as well not have a breakfast if you're going to end it so early. I mean most hotel breakfasts are nothing to write home about, but at least they are something. Ending at 8:30am on a Saturday is essentially offering nothing.
