SpringHill Suites Birmingham Colonnade/Grandview

My husband and I stayed here with our child for two nights. We traveled here to attend a football game. We were very disappointed with the condition of our room and lack of cleanliness. The bathtub was clogged and Peeling. We had to stand in the accumulation of water, soap scum And whatever was peeling from the bathtub as we showered. Since we arrived late on the first night of our stay, I reported this issue to the front desk in the morning before we left the hotel. I was reassured that maintenance would fix the issue in our room. We returned late in the evening to find that the bathtub was still clogged. I decided to call the Titanium Elite customer service line for assistance. The representative I spoke to contacted the front desk and was told that the maintenance person would be sent to our room to fix the issue. We were ready to shower and go to bed but we decided to stay up and wait for the maintenance person to fix the bathtub. No One showed up. We waited for an hour and ended up once again showering in a gross tub. Aside from the bathtub being clogged, the shower curtain was dirty and stained. The ceiling was stained. The carpet inside our room stained our socks with dirt. I ended up cleaning the bathroom floor myself with sanitizing wipes. We spent $450 to stay here for two nights. We will never stay here again and we would never recommend this hotel to anyone. $450 can be well spent at a different hotel that actually adheres to Marriott standards. The following morning, before we checked out, I asked why the maintenance person never came to our room to unclog the bathtub. The front desk representative told me the maintenance person was scheduled off this weekend?? The lack of staffing is obvious at this hotel.

I was celebrating my husband’s 65th birthday this weekend and was very disappointed in the service and issues related to health and wellness and also cleanliness that we encounter at this hotel. We usually inspect the room for bugs, cleanliness and etc. The first issue we encounter was a pillow with blood stains, we requested another pillow and was told they only had one remaining pillow left in the entire hotel. We also had an issue with a clog toilet and was told that we needed to come down to the front desk and retrieve a plugger because the maintenance staff was off until Monday. The handicap hand bar was extremely loose in the shower and the sink’s water faucet's were marked incorrectly. The cold was hot and the hot was cold. I was deeply upset because this was a $200 plus room per night….some real changes need to occur Marriott. I have stayed at other locations and this was a disappointing mess.

Great location not too far from the major freeways and close to eateries. I could park my U-Haul in the back near the pool and didn't have to worry about anyone messing with my car. The staff was friendly the only drawback was the bathroom wasn't cleaned upon checking into the room. The toilet was not flushed and there was hair on one of my towels that was hung up.

If you value sleep - do not stay here! I stayed just one night (thank goodness). The highway noise was so loud and incessant it seemed as though my bed was placed right next to the highway. In addition, they use a synthetic shower curtain and plastic sheet which simply blew out of the tub - allowing shower water to spray on the bathroom floor. Thanks to the extra towels I was able to wipe up the large puddle. They need a fixed sliding door or this can lead to leaks to rooms below.

the management of this property is the worst. After I had already checked in my room, the room was canceled without contacting me. When I arrived, they said they don't understand why and that Marriott reservations did it. the hotel didn't offer to help find another hotel or anything. When I contacted reservations, the system showed that the hotel manager canceled the room. The hotel stated false information.

A friend and I wanted to meet in Birmingham for a relaxing visit in the Homewood area. I was initially disappointed to find that the 4 star hotel where I wanted to stay was booked, and I spent the next couple of hours investigating other hotels in the area. I am so glad I chose the Springhill Suites at the Colonnade! It was clean (highest on my list of expectations!) and modern. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the layout of the room and bathroom was very functional! Nice desk and sofa area for hanging out with a friend. Loved all the lamps throughout the space and extra lighting around the sink. Window overlooked the wooded area of the Colonnade. So many restaurants and places to shop at the Colonnade, the Summit, Homewood (18th Street!), and the Botanical Gardens are nearby! Checked in with a very nice young man they call Jay. We were only there one night, so we didn't have any interaction with the service staff (other than being grateful for the clean room!), and we didn't eat the breakfast, so I can't speak to either of those, but I was pleasantly pleased with the experience and will definitely stay there again.
