Logis Hôtel Restaurant le Monarque

Very basic accommodation if that’s what you are after. Rooms are very small and lacking any good air con. When we arrived, a light bulb was left flashing in the hall way. If basic is what you are after…. Good location. Short stroll to sights. If you like creature comforts…. Book elsewhere.

This is the 3rd consecutive year that we have had a stopover in Le Monarque. We stayed in room 48 which is like a mini apartment: 2 bedrooms, bathroom & separate bathroom. The beds were so comfortable, air conditioning worked perfectly & the italian shower was super. It was really quiet & everyone had a great night’s sleep (2 adults & 2 children). We often stay in Logis Hotel (3 stars) & the bedrooms at Le Monarque were superior to what we’re used to. However, the breakfast was well below par & would prevent us from returning. It’s not expensive (€9.50 per adult/€5 per child) but even at that I did not find it good value – I would prefer to pay more for higher quality. Firstly, breakfast was from 0730-1000 but when we arrived @ 0900 the buffet was almost empty. It was impossible to find any staff – the buffet really is self-service! When we eventually did find someone, they advised we’d have to wait 20 mins (it was actually 25 mins) for croissants & pains au chocolat. They were so poor they must have been re-heated from frozen. Why could the hotel not provide fresh croissants from the lovely boulangerie next door? We asked for an espresso (instead of the miserable looking filter coffee on offer)  which they were going to charge us for until my husband complained. Most places would now have a decent coffee machine for self service. The fruit salad was tinned & disgusting – most places would offer fresh fruit salad. The cereals were really unappealing – missing a nice granola – the muesli looked particularly unappetising. I had an espresso & some tinned fruit – not a good start to the day!

Surtout ne pas compter sur cet hôtel pour retrouver un oubli. J’ai eu le malheur d’oublier dans la chambre un costume en partant. Costume volatilisé. Impossible à retrouver malgré une visite sur place. Un séjour qui coûte finalement très cher.

Habitaciones muy muy pequeñas, sucias, y los baños olían a cloaca. Pedimos cambiar de habitación y nos dan otra similar, en el armario había una silla y una lámpara porque sí lo sacabas, no entras en la habitación. El desayuno fue pésimo. Para darle mas matices, el aire acondicionado no funcionaba.

Très bon accueil, le personnel est à l'écoute et très professionnel. Les chambres sont agréables et au calme. Tout est très propre. Nous y avons dîné. La salle de restaurant est agréable. Le dîner : ceviché de cabillaud qui mériterait d'être retravaillé, manque d'assaisonnement et les morceaux trop gros, trop d'échalote grossièrement coupée, ca manque de gourmaandise et de saveur, dommage de le servir dans une assiette creuse. La brochette de thon avec petits légumes bonne. Le plateau de fromage parfait car local. Le dessert : pour moi une pavlova mais revisitée car seulement quelques brisures de meringue, trop de crème et de fruits. Peut être à présenter dans une autre assiette. Mon mari a pris un baba à la manzana et à la pomme granit. Le baba était beaucoup trop gros, trop de crème. Il n'a pas pu le finir. Idem une autre présentation serait préférable. La qualité des produits est là, ça manque juste un peu de gourmandises et de présentation. En résumé bon séjour.

Vu de l'extérieur l'hotel ne paie pas de mine et nous avons été très agréablement surpris; nous avions une chambre familiale qui s'avérait être 2 chambres attenantes avec salle de bain commune très propres et agréables. petit déjeuner buffet bien garni et personnel très agréable.
