The Victorian Inn Blowing Rock

Beautiful, clean room. Well appointed, supplied and decorated. The site manager Karen is amazing! She was in contact regularly to ensure our visit was enjoyable. The inn is within walking distance of the shops and places to eat. Five star!!!

I stayed here just one night and it was so cozy I would've been more than content to stay another night or two. I was traveling solo and chose the Victorian Inn based on location and reviews. Blowing Rock's small downtown area doesn't include traditional chain hotels so you have your choice of small inns. On the day of check-in I received a text with all of the info I needed for a contactless, seamless check-in. I also received a phone call from a kind woman at the inn making sure I had all details. Upon arrival I was momentarily unsure where to park (you're asked to park in a certain numbered space) but the lot is tiny and the numbers weren't easy to see right away. But I figured it out quickly and pulled into my spot (kind of tight if a few larger vehicles). I'd booked a room on the 2nd floor with a small balcony, and entrance was around the side of the house. The keypad is easy to use but you have to touch a number before the pad lights up, which I had no problems with but I could see it might be tricky at night with any vision issues. The room was quite lovely and well appointed. The bed was comfortable and linens soft. An overhead fan was a nice addition, as well as the window AC unit (you turn on when you arrive) - a must for my mid-July visit. There's a small table and 2 chairs, fridge, Keurig, a couple bags of cookies, wine opener. The bathroom is very spacious with modern amenities and fluffy towels. The inn providing a Hulu account on the TV was a thoughtful touch, as I don't tend to log into my own streaming services when traveling (though all streaming options there if you prefer to). The space was very clean and had lots of natural light. The only "cons" might be the lack of room darkening shades on windows (just standard blinds) so the room gets bright when the sun comes up, and the noise from the AC unit. Neither of these bothered me (I was up early anyway and I sleep in ear plugs!) but just noting for the future traveler. I didn't get to enjoy coffee on my little balcony as I'd hoped but it's a nice touch. The house next door doesn't provide the prettiest view but otherwise it's a nice option to step out for fresh air. The property has some gardens in the back I think though I didn't get to check them out. The location is fantastic for walking downtown. Just around the corner from the brewery (great patio out back, super nice staff, the fried chicken sandwich and green beans were delish!). The wine shop next door to that offers a nice porch for a glass of wine. There are tons of cute boutiques (note they all close about 6pm) and a lovely park at the center with gorgeous flowers and landscaping. Take a moment to just sit on the benches along the main street above the flowers and enjoy the quiet hubbub. If you enjoy walks for exercise, it's all sidewalks with a mix of flat and slight incline from the inn and around the downtown area. My wife and I went there for a short 2 day getaway. This place is FANTASTIC! The units have been completely redone since the last time we were there. The owners did a beautiful job. Very nice, clean, updated, comfortable and convenient to everything in Blowing Rock. You'll love it!

The Victorian Inn has many positve attributes, with its location being a real stand out. It is located a few short blocks from downtown Blowing Rock, allowing guests to be on a quiet street close to all that Blowing Rock has to offer. Our room was good sized and had a large television, a microwave, a coffee machine, a large and comfortable king size bed, an electric fireplace, a claw foot tub, and a walk-in shower. The room was extremely clean. The primary draw back to our stay was the entry keypad to our room. I had to bend down on my knees every time I used it (and I am only 5 foot 6 inches tall). The keypad is placed way too low. In addition, it is not illuminated until you touch it. Unfortunately, once you touch it, you have used up one of the numbers / symbols that allow it to open, making the code you tried to put in incorrect. A few minutes after entering our room (we called the Housekeeper regarding how to get the keypad to work properly), we met another guest trying to figure out how to enter her room. Going contactless can be fine, but experiencing frustration at the very beginning of a stay is not the way to go. My wife and I have stayed in rooms that used keypads before, and never experienced these difficulties. Another problem my wife and I had with the room was the height of the rod in the closet. It is way too high, and my wife had extreme difficulty hanging up her clothes. We both had to stand on our toes to hang up our clothes. Lowering the rod would be an easy fix. Despite the above mentioned problems, overall, we had a positive experience at the Inn.

A wonderfully decorated, comfortable, private rooms with luxury linens. Coffee and mini fridge in room. Conveniently located in Blowing Rock and quick, 2 block walk to main street with shopping and restaurants available .
