Lakeside Fishing Lodges

Really enjoyed our trip to the lake. We stayed in Sunflower lodge for 3 nights which was lovely, had everything we could have asked for, facilities were lovely and clean and the wifi was very good which is a bonus if you have work calls and things. I would describe the lake as a mixed species lake. Being carp anglers that was our focus. The majority of carp we caught were quite small (under 10lb) but had one nice one at 17lb 10oz. Bearing in mind it was middle of January and zero degrees, i thought it fished pretty well to be honest. A couple of challenges. 1 was the ducks! 😆 they are a menace for your bait, but nature is nature! The other was the height of the decking, being a good 3 foot or so above water level, not a major issue as we had steps either side to get lower and net any larger fish safely, but one side this involved lifting the rod and line over rushes which can make you lose tension on the line and did lose a fish becuase of it. Minor inconvenience though. Its great to fish from the decking, so landing them safely from there would make it even better. A lovely place for couples to relax, catch a few fish, and potentially have 1 of the handful of special fish i know are in there. Would return!

Beautiful place lavender lodge is smashing!! Luxury at it finest,shower an bath,fishing was fantastic 2 of us fished we had 15 carp! Not bad for winter fishing,we've fished the margins and just kept bait goin in we also lost a few surprises!! We will be back!!

The cabin was adequate in construction and facilities well suited to a basic fishing trip. The shower was either boiling hot or cold despite it being an independently heat power shower - no middle ground which caught all three of us out - Ouch !! The hot water temperature at all taps was scalding hot. Again all three of us got caught out at some point - Ouch again !! The major gripe was that this was a fishing trip and between three us us over 3 nights we managed to catch only one carp. We considered maybe we were just inept fishermen but conversations with the other guests painted the same picture - no fish. It’s a glorious spot and set up adequately but if the lake has no fish then it’s a blank as a fishing venue !!

Easy to find with sat nav, although the entrance to the site popped up so suddenly we almost missed it, and I don't think the outer gates actually have the name of the site on them, so we were not too sure we were in the right place until we spotted the large rock with the site map on it. Good parking right outside and next to the lodge for two cars. The lodge was spacious with comfy king size beds with clean white linen and four pillows. Fluffy, thick white towels, one bath and one hand towel per person, are provided. The bathroom and kitchen are both modern with a good hot shower. Toilet roll, kitchen roll and hand wash is provided as well as washing up liquid, dishcloth and one tea towel. Everywhere was clean. The internet was good (5 bars) and TV with Netflix is available. Unfortunately, our fishing experience was not good, but this is just how it goes. Amy and Paul were brilliant - so kind and caring when we initially had a problem accessing the internet. They got us up an running in no time. The outside area of the deck is a little tired and could do with a lick of paint but this doesn't affect the holiday. Beautiful views across the lake. As a relaxing break away from home it ticked all the boxes.

We have just returned from a second visit to this fabulous venue. We stayed in Dragonfly again and found it to be just as comfortable, spotlessly clean and well equipped as last time. The site is a complete haven of peace and tranquility and the feeling of relaxation and chilling from the cares of the world begins from the moment that you drive through the gates. As a pleasure angler of over 50 years experience, I can genuinely say that I have never fished at a better lake than this one. I would love to keep this wonderful venue as my secret place, but that would be unfair to Amy, Paul and their team, who have created such a wonderful holiday destination. I was staggered to see that there were actually some negative reviews on here. Who are these people and what is wrong with them! If you like to feel totally relaxed, at one with nature, and are an angler seeking a perfect fishing experience, then this is the place for you.

Booked the Ladybird pod which was lovely. Looks small but has everything you need and makes it very cosy. We booked 2 nights and on the last night the owners actually called me to ask if we wanted to stay another night at a reduced rate as there was a cancellation. Everything was clean and the lake is so peaceful. We are coming again for my husbands birthday in July this time booked into the Lilypad pod.
