We would be interested in returning to Bungaree Station with friends or family to stay in one of the larger cottages/houses. Most of the accommodation options do seem to have reasonably privacy. We had the small Stallion Box, which was absolutely perfect and private for a couple staying just for one night, and it provided all we needed. The fire kept us extremely comfortable and the kitchen had all we needed, other than perhaps a few more tea towels would be good because since you need to do your washing up (no little dishwasher in the kitchenette) the couple that are provided become extremely soaked quickly! But it would be nice to stay a few nights and relax with others in one of the larger buildings and soak up even more of that iconic and charming Australian setting at Bungaree. The place really seems ‘stuck in time’ but in a lovely way! The audio box recordings around the property were great to listen to for learning the fantastic property history, but we were not able to hear them all – so a good reason to return! The boxes are solar powered but even some that were in full sun were not working. The information about the restoration of the stained glass in the little church is really fascinating and worth a listen. We were a bit dismayed about the state of many of the grave stones in the burial yard. It would be lovely to see some of those restored too – or perhaps a little booklet put in the church detailing who is buried there and what some of the illegible engravings are meant to say? It is especially generous of the family members in residence at the main homestead that they do allow you to enter their private gardens. It is lovely to do that and to go to the base of the gardens to get a great vantage point to look back towards the beautiful house. The people we encountered were lovely and enthusiastic and it does feel very much like you are visiting a family home/farm rather than being at some contrived agricultural tourism operation, which is great. When we arrived at the property, we knew we wanted to cook in the accommodation rather than go out if possible, so we were lucky there were a couple of bits (not much though!!) of frozen Bungaree lamb available to purchase in the Station Store and that we still had enough time for it to defrost before BBQing it that night! The items you can buy in the Store are very minimal but good quality – cheese, crackers, white wine etc. We were told their stocks were very low, so it is probably best not to rely on those supplies if you are looking to self-cater instead of going into Clare for dinner. It turns out, however, that we had actually received a catering options email from Bungaree about a week before but it had gone into the spam folder so we hadn’t seen it unfortunately. It offered the option to pre-purchase ready-made meals from an external supplier, which seemed a great option, or also BBQ packs from Bungaree. But we are really surprised that those packs just include st
