PPengguna TetamuCrystalbrook Bailey was my stopover hotel so I wasn't expecting anything flash etc however when I arrived I was pleasantly surprised how beautiful and modern this hotel is. Such a change to a lot of the older Cairns hotels. I felt like I was in a hotel in Melbourne! Check in was a breeze and staff were lovely, I was in my room in no time at all. There is alot of stunning modern artworks all throughout the building, very cool to find as you make your way to your floor. The room was beautiful and sufficient for a one nights stay, I could have easily stayed for longer! The location is great, in the city and close to the esplanade. I would definitely stay here again!

PPengguna TetamuI had deluxe sea view double room.Very nice view.The best location,the shore broadwalk is just next to the hotel(can see at my balcony).I’ve read reviews saying it’s old,but actually it’s maintained in acceptable manner.Don’t expect luxurious 5stars design,it’s more like resort style hotel.The pool is big,with a small heated pool.Gym is small but sufficient,always empty.The rooms are clean, tidied up daily.Be careful the bathtub only has half glass covered up, no flooding would happen if being careful. Very nice room though. Helpful and nice front desk staff. Very good for value.

PPengguna TetamuThe photos provided by the operators are extremely deceptive. The accomodation is old and run down. The shower tiles were painted at some stage, and it is now peeling off both the floor and the walls. The “updated” vanity basin and tap are poorly sizes and you are unable to fully wash your face due to the shape and size of the basin with a shorter necked faucet . There is no complete enclosure for water in the shower resulting in you flooding the bathroom each time you shower- we ended up using the common showers in the passageway to attempt keep our room dry. The toilet paper is only single ply so bring your own if you decide to stay here !! Our towels and sheets had stains on them and the pillows are flat and lumpy. I wouldn’t swim in the pool unless you’ve had your latest tetanus shots. We were followed back to the accommodation by a slightly hostile homeless person one night which was slightly unnerving for our teenage daughters. The nicest part of this accommodation is the outdoor BBQ area. The breakfast provided smelt ok, but we decided to eat at the cafe at the marina each day as we were heading out to the reef and islands anyways. We decided to stay here and save money as generally we are out during the day and only need a comfortable bed and a clean shower- next time we will be going back to our regular accommodation closer to the Esplanade. I

I arrived the day after Cyclone Jasper. My flight was severely delayed and I was a bit stressed esp as a solo older female traveller. It also seemed I had a duplicate payment in the system . The delightful young Irish(?) woman on reception the night of 16/12 was a godsend. She was charming , efficient, refunded my overpayment . On check in , offered me a lower bunk in a 3 bedded room. The room was great - quiet spacious , great accommodation clean . I loved the fluffy pillows spotless bedding good ac and fans.No ‘ hostel’ smell either! .Amazing location close to the Esplanade too! Thank you !

PPHILLIP JAMESThe Mantra Hotel has outstanding location. It is directly in front of the Woolworths supermarket - the best option in central Cairns. It's also virtually opposite (the esplanade side)the lagoon public beachfront swimming pool. Finally it's just a 5 minute walk from Cairns Cruise Terminal, with outstanding day trips to Green Island, Fitzroy Island and the Reef. I booked a sea view room. When you enter the room, you don't see the ocean, but a building across the road. However, the view from the balcony was amazing. The balcony overlooks the main features of lagoon on the sea front. During the day it is great view - the lagoon pools and sea in the background. At night you cannot see the sea (as to be expected) but you have the amazing lagoon lights, which makes it very desirable and even romantic. Our room was at the end of block, which overlooks a shopping mall (no car noise) - looking right from the balcony is the lagoon view and looking left is a mountain view. However, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm the sun comes directly into the balcony area, which means it unusable until sun sets. Of course if you don't mind baking in the sun on the balcony, this is not really a concern. The room itself is pretty basic. The mini fridge of OK and TV has domestic channels only - no cable TV for BBC/CNN. The bathroom is of a good size. There is combined shower & bath. However, when using the shower, it can slightly flood this bathroom. A shower curtain may be desirable because the glass panel is not sufficient enough. At $225 per night this hotel was not cheap and you can better deals by coming in the off-season OR going bit further down the esplanade, and choosing another hotel. The Mantra does have its own pool and it is wonderfully heated, with normal deck chairs you would expect at 4 star hotel. However, the pool gets very little natural sunlight, because it of its location between 2 buildings. Overall, the hotel has amazing location, and it is still recommended, despite the shortcomings mentioned. My final note: When we checked in, I was impressed with the level of service provided by the receptionist. She had a very welcome attitude and a wonderful personality.

LLinda E Address: 331-337 Lake St, Cairns City QLD 4870 Phone: (07) 4041 6605 If you are unfortunate enough to be allocated this unit there are things you should be advised The Edge Apartments Cairns is situated in Cairns only 220 yards from the Northen end of the Esplanade and the Coral Sea. It has 2 outdoor pools and spacious air-conditioned apartments. COMMENT In June 2023 We found our apartment 205 for 10 days to NOTt to be of 4star standard at all. PRO: The bedlinen and bathroom towels were very clean and of good quality. The air conditioning worked. The ceiling fans worked. The apartment was spacious. The fridge worked but bottom of door shelving missing. Inconvenient if you wanted to store water bottles etc. CONS: ” Each unit at the Edge has a flat-screen TV”., which was NOT working and had to be re-connected by guest. “Free Wi-Fi” NOT available in unit 205 – we were informed by office unless you wanted to stand outside of office area to connect. Apartment was dark, - lighting in all rooms inadequate and woefully dim and outdated. Lighting in laundry area was badly positioned – and here there were no instructions on how machine worked. *Vertical Blinds in poor state and need maintenance or replacement. *All doors (screen and glass sliding) need maintenance to run smoothly. *The furniture was inappropriate (apart from 2 leather sofas) and badly arranged. *The ambience was noisy. The decor throughout the apartment – wasn’t.!! Except 2 pictures hung almost at ceiling. – 1 small mirror in dark hallway., and a wall clock. (All 15 years or more in age) *No rugs or furnishings to soften the décor or the echo sounding throughout the apartment. *Coffee table in bad state. *Dining table satisfactory but serviced by 2 different types of chairs. *The bathroom needed maintenance/upgrade (and pictures I have taken show much damage to outer base of shower, mould along the wall.) *The kitchens come equipped with very basic essentials. A microwave and dishwasher., utensils for cooking on very old worn stove. “Some units have balconies with sea or mountain views”, others, like ours, at 205 had overgrown foliage with NO views. The Edge Apartments Cairns has an outdoor entertainment area with barbecue facilities and free on-site private parking. *The Rain forestation Nature Park is 11 miles from The Edge Apartments. Kuranda Scenic Railway and Skyrail Rainforest Cableway are only a 10-minute drive away.

ZZhangThe room is spacious and has everything you needed. Enough clothes hangers，shampoo and conditioner etc. a lot of parking spots. A good restaurant. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Located in city center. Close to the waterfront and restaurants.

PPengguna TetamuThe location is very good, in the city center, near to the lagoon, super market, Rusty’s market, the Fleet Terminal. So it is very convenient for your activities. The downsides are the cleanliness and the hostel bar. Kitchen is not clean, badly equipped, not properly lit, resulting in guests having dinners in the dark. Guests leave many uncleaned dishes overnight, with cockroaches running over. There are no sign indicating rooms numbers whatsoever, whereas some rooms are technically hiding behind doors. Many guests having difficulty finding their rooms, including myself. I have seen at least three persons going un and down the corridors several times before finding the room number. The hostel bar’s music is extremely loud and this until 2:30 am. So every night I sleep very badly.

PPengguna TetamuThis Motel was disgusting.It just smelt of cigarette smoke and a bottle of bleach.But the room was still dirty.The door did not lock properly.The shower had dirty shoe marks in it the fridge did not work and my food was spoiled.The bed was like a brick so uncomfortable and I only sat on it.I rang to get help with the fridge and they were not helpful at all.I had to move and spend more money on a motel.And still 2 wks later the manager won’t return my phone calls or emails will not refund my money.Highly recommend you never stay at this motel is absolutely disgusting.The fridge had mould in it.
