I'm usually a huge fan of the Hilton brand, and my expectations were high for my stay at Hilton Heliopolis in Cairo. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what I had hoped for, and I feel compelled to share my disappointing experience with other potential visitors.
The first signal of trouble came during check-in. We were informed that our original room was not ready, but we were promised an upgrade to address this delay. Much to our dismay, the "upgraded" room turned out to be nothing more than a regular room. We had been eagerly anticipating the additional features and luxury that an upgrade typically provides, so this was a significant letdown, especially after waiting until 8pm to receive the room we initially booked.
Upon waking up the next day, the disappointment continued. Despite the hotel manager’s promise of a welcome box, there was none to be found. This lack of attention to detail was echoed in the incomplete set-up of our room. Our terrace lacked chairs, making it difficult for us to enjoy the space as we had planned. Furthermore, our coffee machine was not replenished with coffee pods; an oversight that caused an underwhelming start to our day.
Added to the letdown of the missing amenities, we faced another issue even more fundamental to our stay - we didn't receive our room key. This left us feeling uncomfortable and insecure about our belongings in the room.
Most disappointing, however, was the unhelpful and ineffective nature of the staff. Despite bringing these issues to their attention, nothing was rectified during our stay.
In conclusion, my experience at Hilton Heliopolis was underwhelming and frustrating, falling drastically short of the high standards I am used to from the Hilton brand. The lack of attention to detail and poor service considerably dampened our stay. I would advise potential visitors to set their expectations accordingly if they choose to stay here and hopefully, management will take note and address these issues promptly.
