Chateau de VIE

Except for the staff who were gracious, staying at Chateau de Vie was the worst experience for the following reasons: 1) Check in was a mess; besides friendly staff member who let us in, no one was there to help with check in. I called the hotel number and sent an email about early checkin multiple times and was ignored. 2). The manager was rude to us; we were not given any notice that breakfast ended at 1030 and we arrived downstairs around 1040 to have been turned away. For a “bed and breakfast” that boasts it has a lovely “compliment breakfast when you are ready to wake up,” I found that this was very disappointing. 3). The power and water went out the Sunday we were there; again, we were not given any notice. When I contacted the manager about breakfast and the power they were defensive and did not care. We are not going back; it was a very unfortunate experience

Very special and unique place to stay in Calistoga. Nelva cooked for us amazing breakfast. We had a local wine and a cheese platter by the pool to toast our anniversary. The Chateau remind us being in France. We enjoyed our stay in this romantic place.

Lovely small B&B right in the middle of a vineyard, quiet and private just outside the quaint town of Calistoga. We enjoyed a lovely stay in a nice room with great outdoor facilities: spa, pool, extensive deck with table and chairs for viewing the vineyard and mountains. The breakfast was wonderful and extensive. Nelva was an amazing hostess.

We had a relaxing and special time at Chateau Du Vie. Peter was the perfect host being helpful and providing great local knowledge whilst overseeing a quiet and private retreat from the hubbub of the region. The breakfasts prepared by Phillipe were delicious too. Rooms are comfortable and cool in the Californian heat. The setting for the house is quite perfect- lots of cooling green garden under the canopy of some mature trees over looking the tiny vineyard. Thank you we had a memorable time.

Chateau de Vie captured our hearts and will always leave us with the longing to return! The owners, Felipe and Peter, made us feel so welcomed and EVERYTHING in your stay is PERFECTION! To be honest, we have never spent so much on a nights stay. It was our first vacation together alone in 37 years and we booked our stay at Chateau de Vie based on their high online reviews. CHATEAU DE VIE was the BEST splurge and will always be our highlight to our 37th anniversary! They have earned their 5-STARS and we left knowing we have to come back! Peter greeted us upon arrival and before we even got our luggage carried into our King Carriage Suite….he had two glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon (which was excellent and came from their own vineyard) and a charcuterie plate filled with local cheese, crackers, dried fruits and nuts was waiting for us on our patio table! We were only in the Calistoga area for one day as we passed thru to the end of our Napa Valley vacation. Peter gave us tips on the best dining places and we enjoyed a walk thru the vineyard area in the evening. We recommend at least a 2-night stay, as we both felt rushed and did not have enough time to soak in all the areas surrounding Chateau de Vie and Calistoga. As far as dining out, we took the hosts suggestion, Calistoga Inn. We loved the outdoor dining and family friendly setting! The Jamaican Jerked Chicken and Niman Ranch Pork Chop was excellent! Forget about finding a place to eat breakfast…..our chateau host Felipe will take care of you!!!! *****Felipe, you are chasing after that Michelin Star with that breakfast!!!!! You will never know how much I appreciated your need to see that my “gluten-free” request was fulfilled. It was honestly the only time I have eaten a gluten-free breakfast that I enjoyed! Thank you so much for sharing your recipes too ;) We left with one day of memories from this chateau that will surely last a lifetime! Peter and Felipe, THANK YOU…for being such genuine and generous hosts! 5 STARS…well deserved!

I have stayed in a number of places and this place is as good as it gets. Don't get fooled by the 3star rating. This is wine country excellence, and whoever assigns star ratings needs to change this to a 4.5 or 5 star accommodation. The rooms are spacious and beds are very comfortable. We made use of the high quality robe each day. The real gem of this place is the couple running it. Their hospitality is second to none and every little need was met. The breakfast is stellar and gourmet. The ambiance is calming and serene. You will not regret any part of your stay.
