My partner, mom and I had a glorious 2 night stay at Shane's Fraaigelegen Farm. There is a bumpy dirt road to the property, making it far enough away from the road that you can only hear the peacocks and birds. The Shiraz cottage is next to another one. It is simple, with everything you need for a braai or making any dinner. The beds were very comfortable, with clean, white bedding and warm blankets for the winter. There are also heaters, which we didn't need in October, but we appreciated the warm water bottles. There is both a built in braai outside as well as a weber. We ordered some of the farm eggs, which Shane procured from a nearby farm. The strawberry jam was delicious. While walking around the lovely dam on the property, we met Shane and his friendly mom. In the morning, I also had a great walk around the property in the vineyards. It's close to Tulbagh and a short drive away from many farms. Shane also gave us great recommendations of wine farms and lunch spots, a good mix between fancy and rustic. At night, the stars were clearly visible thanks to the lack of light pollution. We also enjoyed the sunsets from the stoep. We had a great time and can highly recommend.
