Pestana was a bit hit and miss, your enjoyment of your stay all depends on what neighbors you get as the rooms are NOT in the slightest bit soundproof as advertised.  I would love to give 5 stars just based on the staff and the facilities for the price you pay but this is the least soundproof place we've ever stayed in and we've stayed at Ibis and Travel Lodge and even they didn't have paper thin walls. I'm quite annoyed at the false advertising of soundproof as that's what our booking was based on for a week and half of peaceful break. I understand the hotel can't control who checks in and where they stay and how noisy they are, however we would have avoided Pestana if we knew how thin the walls are. We also did not like having to pack and unpack 3 times but it's what we had to do to tey get good nights sleep to enjoy our holiday. Upon arrival we checked into G61, we could hear every step every person made up the stairs and along the top floor as  as every draw or door being closed. There is absolutely no privacy when sitting outside the lounge in the garden, the table next door is literally 1m away as well as their sun lounges. Due to noisy kids we asked to be moved.  Reception lady was freindly and pleasant and made every effort to move us, she gladly checked availability and got another room ready for us while we went for a hike. We then checked into 27. This house was also not soundproof whatsoever. We could hear the neighbors TV  but it was quieter as there were no kids constantly running up and down the stairs. However our peace was short lived as 2 days later our new neighbors came home every morning at 2am and made a noise till 4am and then woke up early too continuing with their noise. All we heard constantly was doors closing, showers running, loud steps, talking, constant whistling and you can even here them plugging things into the walls. So needless to say we were exhausted from the lack of sleep for days which made our stay unpleasant. We then moved a 2nd time to G67 which was the same block of terraced suits as the first one. Luckily our neighbors on either side were quiet but on one side they woke up at 6am every morning which meant we did too due to the lack of soundproofing. Basically if you're in your aparent you are subjected to constant banging from cupboards and doors, hearing every step made up m down stairs and the plugging in of appliances into the adjacent walls. All 3 rooms had pretty much the same layout with decent sea and garden views. There is quick easy access to the cliffs infront and a short walk to 2 beautiful beaches on either side of the resort, as well as a quick 2km walk down into town.  We didn't eat at the restaurant on site as we self catered and there are also many great restaurants in town and the best sushi takeaway in Lagoa. Intermarche supermarket is a 5 min drive away and had a great selection of everything we needed for our 2 week stay. Had a few maintenance issues in the 1 apartment,

Just got back from a week here. We used it as a base for cycling which was ideal as the location was perfect to explore the area. There is an Intermarche 0.9 miles away. We had a 2 bed villa which was very spacious. Loved the separate lounge area and kitchen and of course a spare room. Yes it is dated and 1 of the beds was really noisy but was adequate for our needs. Villa Our villa faced the main road, which although seems small it was incredibly busy and we were disturbed every night, throughout the night by noisy traffic. There is a very small balcony area which didnt get the sun but the views were quite nice and you could see the sunrise. Food We were really disappointed, having stayed half board in many hotels of varying star ratings, this was by far the worst. Breakfast was childrens cereals (3 of), cold bacon, cold scrambled egg, toast, yoghurt, very watered down juices. Nice fruit salad, selection of cold meats and a cheese. It never changed. The evening meal was from a menu, hit and miss, most of the meat choices were tasteless and dry, the fish and lasagne were nice. I prefer a buffet style by choice. The waiting staff worked hard and were polite. Pool Outside pool was fantastic, plenty of sunbeds, large pool that didnt make your eyes sting or smell of chlorine. We didnt use the indoor pool. Wifi What wifi, there was none available in the villa and even when you went to the pool area or reception it was hit and miss. We needed it to upload our routes for the next day and it became an issue on occasion. There was no atmosphere at the hotel and I appreciate we came at the end of the season. I dont think we would stay here again sadly.

Quarto grande e silencioso mas os armários são velhos e as cortinas sujas e com partes emperradas. Varanda grande porém suja e precisa de uma atualização na pintura. Banheiro com bom espaço porém com cheiro forte que vem do ralo. O quarto é grande e seria bom ter um lixo adicional porque só tem no banheiro e na cozinha. A mini cozinha tem um bom frigobar mas os armários e pia são bem antigos, com cheiro forte. Senti falta de detergente e bucha na cozinha. Pelo nível do quarto justificaria ter uma Nespresso, seria muito bom. Ponto favorável são as toalhas de ótima qualidade tanto no quarto quanto na piscina. A área da piscina é linda, jardim bem cuidado e cadeiras top para deitar. O bar é interessante também mas não usei porque achei os preços um pouco caros. Café da manhã médio, sugiro suco de laranja fresco para melhorar e mais opções de pães. Jantamos um dia no hotel, não recomendo, é serviço de buffet e a comida não estava boa, foi caro. Melhor fazer as refeições fora.

They were always on hand to offer assistance or provide recommendations, and their warm and genuine hospitality made us feel like valued guests. Beyond the hotel itself, the surrounding area offered plenty of opportunities for outdoor activities and exploration. We took advantage of the hotel's proximity to nature, embarking on leisurely walks and hikes that allowed us to connect with the peaceful surroundings. It was the ideal way to escape the hustle and bustle of the work world and reconnect with nature.

Arrived Friday midday, pleasant and helpful reception staff, easy check in and hotel looked recently renovated with well presented and modern lobby. We unpacked into a large two bed apartment, three flatscreens and sofa, large fridge freezer and all accessories required for comfortable self catering. We spent a nice afternoon at a quiet pool among other families and couples (pool is freezing cold). This is where the good news ended. Around 5pm two coach loads of students descended onto the hotel with shopping carts (actual shopping carts) loaded with speakers and party signs. Our stomachs sank as did our 7yr olds, intimidated by rowdy youths in the elevator. I enquired at the front desk as to the situation and was met with the news that the party had booked almost the entire hotel out of rooms. The Flor Da Rocha sells the rooms as part of a student party package at various times throughout the year, see screen grab. The sequence of events is as follows; two coaches arrive mid afternoon, the lobby and swimming pool both flood with loud students and then the speakers appear on the balcony’s facing the pool area blasting music. Short lull when they dissipate to the supermarket for alcohol then from 9pm (when the families are settling the children) the noise begins again with shouting / singing / Macarena etc etc. people hanging over balcony’s with guitars, clapping and jeering. No intervention from hotel staff whatsoever. It comes as no surprise the in room telephone also doesn’t work when trying to contact reception. The fact Jet2 are marketing this hotel as a family friendly holiday is ridiculous. No sleep for a family of four for the first two nights of a seven night holiday. We selected Praia Da Rocha as a family friendly alternative to the usual stag and hen locations, what possesses the place to host a two day student bender is beyond me. Unfortunately, this is the second time Jet2 have let us down and we should’ve known better than to travel with them again. The rest of the week was fine although the students continue to come and go, fortunately for us the rest seemed to be athletes / youth groups rather than organised party goers. Given time and money has been spent to update the hotel it’s a real shame they choose to recoup this at the detriment to family and couple guests in an otherwise quiet resort.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful location - we went at a time where it was a little quieter but still sunny. They town is small and cute and during summer I’m sure there’s more entertainment. The staff in the beginning weren’t as welcoming but after that they were all very pleasant. We did mention it’s our anniversary but as this was in the beginning with staff that weren’t bothered nothing was done. Other staff were very very nice and always so helpful. Breakfast was lovely and the bar at night was also lovely.

Context - 12 night stay, family with 2 young teenagers in August We stayed in Villa 100, a 'luxury 2 bed townhouse' Accomodation: Great accomodation, some maintenance required, but not important. The accomodation was spacious, clean, beds were really comfortable, showers were great, loads of kitchen storage, sofas really comfortable, effective air com, kitchen with 4 burner hob, ovem, microwave, toaster, cofferr machine, washing machine and dryer. 5 star comfort, and nearly 5 star appearance (just a few maintenence piece needed ie chips in kitchen cupbaords, locks of bathrooms not aligned etc) Outside the accomodation we had 2 loungers, 4 would have been better, a table with 4 chairs with a few of a small pool. The pool near our villa was excellent. We generally were able to get this to ourselves at some points in the day, and there were always loungers available. This isn't the main pool. The main pool is a couple of minutes walk from the villa, and again excellent. it was quiet, but still an atmosphere, no problem getting loungers. On one day we had to hunt down an umbrella. There is also an indoor pool, that opens out to a terrace. Didn't think we'd use it, but it was really nice, and we used that as well. Useful when it's windy and the outdoor pool got chilly. The spa was good. My wife had a treatment that she said was very good. there was a steam room and sauna, both good, a small gym (didn't use). Jacuzzi was open, but didn't seem to work ie no bubbles! Outdoor pool bar was closed for refurb, but an indoor alternative was available. Restaurant was probably the biggest disappointment. We were self catering, used it once, and didn't return. The food was ok, but comparing it to the external restaurants we ate at, was nowhere near as good and significantly more expensive. Service in the restaurant was more comparable to a 3 star hotel. What was particularly disappointing was that 'portuguese' night was just a subset of the standard A la carte menu. Housekeeping were variable, ranging from spectacular to average! Some days they even unloaded our dishwasher which was a lovely touch. Other days they took away hand towels and didn't replace them. Resort did not have much to do for teenagers, other than making their own entertainment in the pool, but for us that was fine. Overall, a hotel is pleasant, lovely pool areas and accommodation is extremely comfortable but let down by the restaurant. Outside of the resort, in Carvoeiro we ate at 'Elliots' in the centre, and 'Recanto da Boavista' (2 minute walk from the hotel). Both of these restaurants were excellent, and catered well for my son who has a milk allergy. The other place we went to in Carvoeiro was Sandoskas. Again really good, but more cheap and cheerful. Whilst their bread contains milk, their baguettes don't, so hot dogs with baguette is a milk free option! The ice cream shop opposite also does a good range of vegan ice creams. Absolutely beautiful. That’s the only way I can describe it. Took my boyfriend there as a birthday present. Staff absolutely lovely, so helpful and soo genuine. Rooms are gorgeous, we had a view straight on the bar/pool outside. Had our room cleaned daily spotlessly. No bad words to say. Affordable price as well. Had the staff notify us when our shuffle arrived. Everything was spot on. Hard to tell on the only picture I got off the view because it was dark, but just imagine that view when it was bright and sunny outside. Definitely recommend.
