Hotel 2 Bintang di Kaunti Chiayi

Location: excellent! It is near to the park entrance, 7-11 and restaurants (less than 5 mins walk). Room: Small but clean. Other reviewers mentioned about sewage smell from the toilet. It is true and we suspect it is due to the wet floor (my daughter slashed water on the floor accidentally). There isn’t any smell when we keep the floor dry. There is a bathtub made of tiles but won’t suggest u have a soak in it as it is looks relatively dirty and tiles bath tub is not the easiest to clean if u want to clean thoroughly the space between tiles! Do note that there is no hot water from 11am-4pm , room heater is turned on when temp drops to 10’degrees. It gets pretty cold when it rains and hence, do bring a jacket. It was rainy days and the temp hits 16-17 degrees and lower should u wish to see the sunrise at Alishan. Amenities: basic amenities in sachets and slippers are provided (very thin slippers). Service: the counter staffs are not the most friendly. They are not rude and will answer your questions. They are generally helpful. The cleaning staff was more polite and friendly as we requested for dry towels (we stayed 2 nights and did not request for room cleaning but needed fresh dry towels). There is a shuttle service to drive u to the Alishan bus station to catch the bus back to chiayi. Do inform the hotel staff earlier. Otherwise u will need to walk to the bus stop , perhaps a 10-15mins walk with your luggage and I think it is a slope Food: breakfast is at the plaza, less than 5 mins from hotel. The shop staff will dish out the dishes for u as requested. There are porridge, noodles, vegs, buns, coffee , preserved pickles/nuts etc to go with the porridge . For lunch and dinner, u can eat at the restaurants around selling Zi char eg fried rice/noodles/chicken/beef etc or hot pots. I would love to eat hotpot in the cold weather but husband is not a fan of hot pot. Personally I find the food too salty for my liking. Alternatively you can grab bento or cup noodles or bread from 7-11. Suggestion: pack some warm clothes, prepare your own slippers/amenities if u are more particular of the quality of the products . Can bring along a water bottle for the walking trials and to refill the bottles! They have water dispensers at each floor.

The B&B is only a 5-minute uphill walk from the bus station, which is great for a solo traveler like me on the go using public transportation. The short climb is worth it when you consider the spectacular views of sunrise and sunset you get at the venue. Checking in is simple and smooth. The host was also kind enough to greet me at the bus. The room I booked is relatively small but the double-size futon bed is firm and has given me 3 nights if comfortable rest. There is no table but the wall-side low counter and stool allows me to have my takeout meal. The bathroom is functional and clean. The only downside is the noise I feel are the noise made by other international travellers (the German and English speakers during my stay 12/27-12/29) who have shown no consideration for other guests, but earplugs allow me to drown it out when I sleep. The buffet-style breakfast is all delicious and plentiful. The owner himself makes fresh coffee from his Nespresso for you. For dinner, I have bought very affordable local takeout noodle stew at a stall near the bus stop, and there is also a convenience store where I could buy food for my next-day mountain hike. The best and key part of the stay has been the photo-taking opportunities at sunrise and sunset, not forgetting the cats in their “cat cafe” outside the restaurant. Overall, for the low price, it is of excellent value.

Wir waren für 2 Nächte dort und hatten ein tolles Zimmer. Obwohl wir nur 2 Personen waren, bekamen wir ein größeres Zimmer mit Balkon. Das Zimmer was sehr sauber und gut eingerichtet. Eine Matratze war allerdings etwas durchgelegen. Das Frühstück war reichhaltig. Das Hotel scheint bei Reisegruppen sehr beliebt zu sein, weil täglich neue Busse ankamen. Das macht es etwas laut, hat uns aber nicht gestört da es nachts ruhig war. Etwas undurchsichtig ist das Konzept des Hotels. Die Rezeption ist in einer Art Halle wo es auch Verkaufsstände Und lauter leerer Aquarien gibt. Ein Teetasting ist dort vermutlich auch möglich? Leider wurde uns dazu nichts erklärt. Mag auch an den mangelnden Englischkenntnissen gelegen haben.

For the price you'd think they'd spend some of their huge profits on upkeep of the rooms. The bathroom was full of mould, the bathtub had been siliconed to the walls, but have pulled away. The entire bathroom needs renovating. The bedroom was on a very badly installed floating floor. There were electrical wires hanging loose from the night stand. The WiFi and set top box were jamed between the TV and wall. The lights didn't work properly, one flicking for minutes afyer the switch was off. The walls are super thin and guests should be reminded to be courteous of other guests, as I was woken at midnight by loud talking and laughing which didn't stop until 230am, and I was getting up at 345am for sunrise. The owner/reception needs to learn manners and how to operate a hotel, because (1) leave a note in English that when reception is unattended to go next door, (2) don't deny early check-in with the pretence the rooms weren't ready, because I checked all on the ground floor and all were ready, plus when I finally got to my room at 5pm the floor was wet in the bathroom and bedroom. (3) Learn some manners, which seems odd in Taiwan as everyone is well mannered, so maybe that's why her attitude stood out so much as she's surrounded by well mannered people. (4) Understand that travellers want peace of mind for left luggage, do at least pretend to make it secure. The room door was damaged both inside and near the lock on the outside. Provide a bathmat, well a few, coz the bathroom flooded so easily.

So nice place, house’s hose is very nice and can speak english and recommend for restaurant and place to travel

There were several areas where I felt the service and amenities could be improved. Firstly, lack of a lift and the need to climb up to level 4 was challenging, especially with heavy luggage. Additionally, the counter staff I encountered during check-in were unfriendly and did not provide a welcoming atmosphere. Another issue was lack of security measures for guests' belongings. Upon arrival, I was surprised to find that there were no numbered tags provided for luggage left in the lobby, which could have potentially resulted in items being lost or stolen. While the gentleman who assisted us with our request for extra pillows was helpful, I was disappointed to find that our room was cleaned without any notice the next day morning before check out. We had planned to return to the room after our breakfast and were surprised to find that the cleaning staff had already cleaned up the room without informing us. If our value belonging were still inside the room when it was cleaned. Who will takes responsibility for any lost or stolen items in such situations.

Wir hatten einen tollen Aufenthalt. Die Zimmer sind schön - unseres hat ein bisschen nach Feuchtigkeit gerochen, aber ein Entfeuchter steht im Zimmer. Das Abendessen (Hot Pot) und das Frühstück sind sehr lecker und der Service ist fantastisch. Am Morgen hat man 20m neben der Unterkunft einen tollen Blick auf den Sonnenaufgang. Auf der Terrasse vor der Unterkunft kann man schön sitzen und den Blick in die Ferne schweifen lassen. Wir würden bei unserem nächsten Aufenthalt wieder kommen.
