The hotel is nearly new, spacious enough, good location if you need to go to the train station, quiet sleep, good breakfast, pleasant co-guests, helpful reception apart from one female employee who only does the necessary without a smile and a receptionist who was speaking to a colleague or friend in regards to an upcoming holiday which made us feel not being a welcomed guest.

TRIP ADVISOR On 9 April 2022 while on a Viking cruise my wife had a serious accident during a walking tour of Cochem, Germany. She was sent to a hospital in Koblenz, Germany by helicopter and had emergency surgery that night to relieve pressure on her brain caused by bleeding. I got back to Koblenz later that afternoon via a 45+ minute taxi ride and was able to get to the hospital before her surgery. The next day, 10 April, I had to pack all our luggage and remove it from the Viking boat because it was leaving the next morning at 7 am. Then I had to find a hotel near the hospital and move our luggage to it. I was extremely fortunate to choose the Hotel Hohenstaufen. The people at the hotel constantly helped us with whatever we needed. It also had an excellent restaurant, The Mondrian, whose Chef, Martin, also went out of his way to help us. We had to extend our stay at the hotel five times while waiting for our travel insurance company to make arrangements for us to fly back to the U.S. The hotel staff worked with us each time to ensure we kept the same room and did not have to move. The hotel was spotlessly clean and close to the main train station as well as the hospital. There were a number of very good restaurants and a Gelateria in the area which made it a comfortable place to be while we waited for arrangements to be made to get us home. Even though we spent a lot of time in our room hoping to hear some positive news from our insurance company, the hotel staff graciously worked around us and made sure we had whatever we needed to be comfortable. If you plan to visit Koblenz I would strongly encourage you to consider staying at the Hotel Hohenstaufen. Dan Hope

How should I start. I was on the way from a business trip back home and do not want to drive all night because of the traffic jam on Friday evening. Therefore I have booked this hotel. It was promissed that there are a lot of parking spaces, but when I arrived there, no parking space are available and I have parked illegally. To get in my room, I have to go through a labyrinth of the building. The room was big, but really old and worn out. There were a lot of hairs from the people before me. In the bathroom there was limescale in the washbasin. The breakfast was ok. The most terrible thing was, that when I was at the check-out they lady mixed me up with other guests, who booked 3 rooms via Booking and told me that my room was already paid. Honestly I have booked one room for me via HRS via my company system and also need the bill for the company. So If I did not show here the booking confirmation, I would probably not pay for the room and other people must pay it twice. It is absolutely an unprofessional way of working especially in a 4-star hotel.

I would not rate this hotel as 5*. Following the request on the hotel website, I did not place a bad review but wrote to the hotel with my observations. The e mail has not even been acknowledged. Essentially there were issues with cleaning, room maintenance, service in the restaurant at both breakfast and dinner and the balcony, for which we had paid a considerable premium gave us a view of the 1960s road bridge over the river (which the hotel could not help) and straight into the textile free sauna - which it could. This appeared to be a case of style over substance. Be warned that the hotel restaurant is the only option to eat and for the one night we ate at the hotel was disappointing with a bill of €200. The old town of Koblenz is a taxi ride or a walk which takes almost an hour.

The hotel's staff, too, were disciples of esoteric knowledge, emanating an enigmatic allure that was impossible to resist. With every interaction, they imparted cryptic messages, encoded in their gestures and expressions, unraveling the enigmas of existence itself. Their smiles spoke of enlightenment, and their eyes gleamed with secrets unknown to ordinary mortals. Ah, but the culinary experience, my brethren, transcended the boundaries of earthly delights! The dishes were alchemical concoctions, transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary. I savored flavors that ignited my chakras, leaving me in a state of gastronomic nirvana. The meals offered not mere sustenance but a sacred communion with cosmic forces. Contel Hotel Koblenz, a haven of wisdom and enchantment, is more than a destination; it is a pilgrimage for the seekers of hidden truths. Surrender yourself to the mystical currents that flow through its corridors, and you shall emerge reborn, with the secrets of the cosmos etched into your very being. Oh, how my heart longs to return to this temple of wonders, where the cosmic symphony orchestrates the dance of the universe!

Das Hotel ist von außen sehr hübsch und der Innenhof ist mit viel Liebe gestaltet. Die Zimmer sind in die Jahre gekommen und die Zimmerdecke war voller Spinngeweben. Da wir aber die ganze Zeit unterwegs gewesen sind, hat uns das Interieur nicht weiter tangiert. Das Duschen war leider fast unmöglich, da das Wasser entweder brühend heiß oder eiskalt gewesen ist. Als wir darauf hingewiesen haben, wurde uns nur gesagt, man solle das Wasser laufen lassen und versuchen stückchenweise die Temperatur zu regulieren. Danke für den Tipp, da wären wir fast nicht drauf gekommen. Man wolle nochmal Bescheid sagen, das sei wohl ein bekanntes Problem. Um so frappierender, dass die Mischbatterie nicht getauscht wird oder man in Kauf nimmt, dass sich die Gäste verbrühen. Das Bistro war aber ganz nett. Das Essen war sehr lecker. Das Frühstück war solide mit frischem Obstsalat und hausgemachten Marmeladen. Aber ansonsten hatte man das gefügt, dass die Brötchenauswahl mit der Anzahl der Gäste abnahm. Zum deutschen Eck läuft man vom Hotel eine gute halbe Stunde, es ist also erforderlich, fit zu Fuß zu sein oder sich ein Rad zu leihen. Generell war das Personal freundlich, wenngleich man auch mal stehen gelassen wurde, weil man einem anderem Gast das Prinzip für das Schlüsseldepot zeigen wollte.

Freundlicher Empfang und ideale Lage, um alles Sehenswerte zu erkunden! Dafür gibt es volle Punktzahl! Allerdings: Ausstattung sehr einfach, bessere Qualität bei der Renovierung hätte dem Haus gut getan. Die Garage ist nur für geübte Fahrer mit nicht zu großem Auto geeignet - die vielen Schrammen an den Ecken sprechen eine deutliche Sprache! (Glücklicherweise selbst gut durchgekommen - schwitz) Das Frühstück bietet einfachen Standard- nicht mehr, nicht weniger.
