A regular annual visitor for years, this trip was the most disappointing by far. Was allocated one of the worse rooms in the resort as I had booked the 50% offer, in the attic eves, very little light, flies galore, even a can of fly killer on the window sill. I went down to reception at 5am to ask if I could have another room, I hadn't had any sleep. Room was so stuffy. Please be aware there are no rooms with air-conditioning. There was a noisy old fan in the wardrobe which just moved the warm air around. The security guard on reception said he would make a note and someone would contact me, they didn't. Went back to reception after breakfast - no other rooms available to move to - 2 more nights of misery. Asked again to change rooms when had no water in the bathroom but by the time I had reported no water it had come back on and was told no other rooms available. The corridors are very uneven, definitely a trip hazard. One poor woman was at reception advising the stairs gave way and she had hurt her leg and no one seemed interested to fill out an accident report or seemed to care. The food used to be a lovely a la carte but now buffet. The food at 12.00 noon was only just luke warm having just been put out. Disappointing. You can't just put drinks on your room you have to carry the little card, not the room key, for each time you make a purchase. Dinner is very rushed, dessert has to be ordered with starter and main. There is no longer the option to order at a cost a full English breakfast or a hot breakfast of any sort. The coffee is nasty but there is a good selection of teas. The hot options are boiled eggs, poached egg, frittata, mushrooms and an chicken sausage that has no colour. Lunch is buffet style with a decent selection of salads. Filtered still and sparkling water is free at meal times, alcohol is quite expensive - I think the cheapest bottle of wine is £34.00, 175ml glass of wine £8.50. The spa treatments are nice but extremely expensive not value for money. The swimming pool changing rooms often no towels available so grab one from pool reception to avoid making a wet dash after your swim. You have to book and pay to attend fitness classes. aqua aerobics is free - the young woman instructor was just awful, completely clueless. My biggest disappointment after 9pm you cannot get a bottle of water, coffee, or drink of any description. No room service available. The cafe closes at 6pm. The ”bar” at dinning room closes around 9pm. The website advertises a table for singles to dine together but asked and was told we don't do that anymore. I was given a substantial amount of Champneys gift vouchers for a mile stone birthday but unable to use for the 'returner offer' - what a con. It would seem booking on their 50% discounted offer means you are treated like a second class citizen. Please note that the 50% off is actually not 50% discount of the advertised rate but 50% off the expected projected price, what a load of rubbish!

There are a few issues with this hotel. Firstly let me mention the positives , fairly comfy bed, and clean , easy access with good parking , basic breakfast , not continental, literally, a bowl of cereal and piece of toast . Piping hot water in bath/shower . Now the negatives, this is a budget hotel, 2/3 star , the price does not reflect this , we paid well over the odds for the accommodation. The room was basic , that’s fine, bad layer of mould behind bath taps, decor , tired need a facelift. No soundproofing between rooms, were kept awake most of the night from the persistent noise from the room directly above ours . There is also a dog kennels next door to this hotel, if you are allocated a room to the left of reception , you will hear the dogs, to be fair they didn’t start barking until around 5am, which was fine as we were there for workman’s had to be up by 5.30am , don’t know if you can hear them if you are at the opposite end of the hotel. I have contacted the hotel to explain my review, and basically have been told if we had complained at the time about the nighttime noise, they would have moved us rooms, yes I’m sure they would have, but that’s not something I was prepared to do in the middle of the night . Had we paid budget price then there would be no need for complaint, but we paid much more than that

Lovely staff, greeted well. Checked in straight away. Ideal location for what I needed. Room was very clean. You've also got the services right next door which is great as I didn't have to drive anywhere for an evening meal. Beds are comfy, showers decent, can't go wrong

A great place for a weekend break. 13 of us had the most wonderful time and nothing was to much trouble. Located right by the river, sitting on the terrace watching the swans and the boats gently float by was most relaxing. Best thing about the Kingfisher was the level of service we received. We all thought the staff were outstanding. All working together as a team, our comfort was their main concern. From the check in at a very friendly reception all the way through to the bar and restaurant staff, everyone was extremely friendly and happy to help no matter what the question. The rooms are spacious and well equipped for the length of stay. very clean, nice large bed good size TV and tea & coffee making facilities. We had a view of the car park, I am sure that nicer views are available. Restaurant food was very good, we ate their both nights. Very large portions and all cooked very well. A well stocked bar with a very impressive draft beer selection. If I was to complain about anything, I would suggest that the availability of a decent cup of coffee at breakfast was an issue. With only instant available during our stay, if you are a coffee snob, you will be disappointed. There was a wedding party Saturday night and some of the guests were very noisy leaving the party at gone midnight, but that was not the Kingfishers fault. Would I recommend this location - absolutely I would.

My husband & I had our wedding here on the 12th July; ceremony & reception in the ballroom. We booked the Broadway back in October. From the start, Agnieska was fantastic at helping organise the day with all the little details, keeping in touch very regularly. We selected the hot carvery package which was excellent for 65 guests. We had family & friends travelling distance, and all managed to get booked in for 2 nights. We had use of the honeymoon suite, which was decorated with rose petals, and there was a lovely bouquet of flowers & box of chocolates left for us. The day went very smoothly, staff couldn’t have been more helpful in ensuring a room was available early for myself, mum & bridesmaids to have our make up done & get ready. Ourselves, family & friends were extremely well looked after. Everyone was happy with their rooms & quality of the breakfast. We would certainly recommend the Broadway as a wedding. I'll start with the good - there was plenty of parking and the bed was comfortable! As for the rest of the Willows, the building is old, the inside is tired, run down and in need of complete refurbishment - as a bare minimum, the whole place needs a really good clean. The rooms and bathrooms are basic and at best functional. The carpets in the corridors are rucked up and serious trip hazards; the fire doors have holes in them where handles have been changed (what sort of fire door is that?). You get the gist... They are understaffed - we had to wander around the building trying to find someone to serve us at the bar on our first night. On the second night, there were just 2 young and inexperienced staff behind the bar despite there being a function for over 100 people. The wait was ridiculous, the staff didn't know their red wines from their white, and the drinks were overpriced - £1.70 for a dash of blackcurrant, £6.50 for a pint of beer! As for security, it's a joke. On returning to our room one evening we found that the cleaner had opened the window and left it wide open all day - and I mean WIDE open. Bearing in mind the room was on the ground floor, anyone could have climbed in and helped themselves to our belongings. The whole experience is one I would not choose to repeat. I have just tried to fill in the customer experience questionnaire, which Wyboston Lakes emailed a link for - but guess what... the link doesn't work! That sums up Wyboston Lakes and the Willows.

Very helpful friendly reception staff , we couldn’t get in the main restaurant so they called “The willows “ which was on the same site to make sure we could get food there and also watch the football which was what interested my son. Room was lovely, clean, comfy huge bed and lovely powerful shower in the bathroom. Breakfast in the morning was buffet, constantly topped up with fresh food. Lovely quiet setting would definitely come back but would make sure we arrived in time to use the pool.
