We stayed during a fair which results in much higher prices than necessary. Good hotel with a strong staff. Shout out to front desk and bartender. Nina was fabulous and her food recommendations were great The hotel’s location is ok. Not great or bad. If driving then plenty of parking

We selected this hotel based on the TA reviews. It does come at a price and you need to select your room carefully to fully enjoy your experience here. Here are our opinions on some of the essentials from any hotel. Location: - Everywhere in Bologna itself is within fairly easy touch of the airport with Hotel Touring being no exception. It’s a taxi ride away or a hop on the ‘Aerobus’ and then walking (more on that later). The hotel is tucked away in a side street just far enough away to be quiet but it’s only a 10-minute stroll into the central areas. Just down the road is a Coop minimart. We stayed in a ‘standard’ room and this will be the subject of this review. Quiet room: - Our standard room was quiet. Very quiet. It can also best be described as compact meaning that some items were stored on the floor. Our particular room also was also sadly lacking in daylight. Thankfully we were out a lot so it wasn’t too big an issue. There are slightly larger rooms available judging by pictures I saw within reviews but you will pay significantly more for these. Air-conditioning/Room temperature: - Yes but not required in November where it was often fairly cool/cold outside. There was a radiator in the bedroom with a responsive thermostatic valve to just keep the room at the correct temperature. There was also a heated towel rail in the bathroom which appeared to be always on but that was not set too high. Wi-Fi: - We had free included Wi-Fi. The password was supplied to us in the room. Annoyingly you had to keep re-connecting every time you came back to your room. The Wi-Fi signal was good. Comfortable bed / pillows. A simple yet very comfortable bed and pillows. We had some good sleeps here. Hairdryer: - Yes. On the wall in the shower room. No complaints from my wife so it must have been ok. Plastic Shower Cap: - Yes. One happy wife. Toiletries provided: - Small bottles of shampoo and a bar of soap. That was it. No shower gel supplied in the standard room. It may be different in the superior rooms. Shower: - Good plentiful hot water. Nothing special but did everything you could want from a shower. Ours had a curtain around it which was a bit of a faff and resulted in some water occasionally getting onto the floor. Safe: - Yes. Tea/Coffee making facilities: - None supplied in the standard room. Bring your own kettle. We asked at reception to loan a kettle but they could not do this for whatever reason. However, they were happy to supply hot water from reception which just meant you had to go get it yourself. Breakfasts: - Very nice breakfasts and much better than I have experienced in some other places in Italy. Coffee was from a machine and on my one experience it was a bit ropey tasting. However, I asked the attentive staff who were more than glad to knock up an expresso, a pot of hot water and some milk to make a delicious Americano. Really nice and a breakfast to look forward to. The service in the hotel is excellent, people are kind and nice and very helpful. always mobilized for help and assistance. A room equipped with the minimum necessary for the night, a refrigerator with two bottles of water at no cost and a safe. There is public transportation near the hotel, which allows for easy movement. At the reception, bus tickets are sold at the same price that you bought outside, which makes it easier to get around. I was very satisfied with the stay at the hotel

We were bused from Florence, Italy to Bologna because of a canceled flight. There were about 40 of us sent to this beautiful hotel. Accommodations , dinner and breakfast were provided by Air Dolomiti. Upon our arrival Tania, the desk clerk had things so well organized all of us were checked in within about 10 minutes. She was pleasant and helped us when we returned with a few questions. Great customer service by Tania and also the rest of the staff. The personnel in the Opera restaurant were great and we enjoyed both our dinner and breakfast. The grounds surrounding the hotel are welcoming with tables and open spaces. The pool is beautiful, unfortunately for me, it was closed at this time of year. A very nice respite after a frustrating day.

We booked the hotel a bit last minute, and I think we may have snagged the last room. We had a junior suite which included a living room in addition to the bedroom. Not huge, but a little extra space. Bed was very comfy. Location was excellent. Right off the main square, so very walkable to main spots. Also very impressed with the breakfast. We had stayed at some larger hotels on our trip and I wasn't expecting as much here since it was smaller, but it was just as good if not better than some of the larger hotels.

Hotel Astoria Bologna. We got off to a bad start when we were given the wrong room and staff insisted that was the one I booked...When i showed the booking confirmation booking a room with a balcony and view (rather than ground floor over the garage and car park) they realised their error blaming the booking system !!...Why can't hotels just say 'sorry'. The room, simply furnished, was fine and the small balcony a good place to chill after a day walking the city. The Astoria is NOT city centre, and for us two fit but 71 year olds we found the advertised 'short' walk (just over a mile) to the city centre quite exhausting. The Hotel area is quiet and we felt quite safe, even late at nigh walking back. Breakfast, served indoors or outside was pretty chaotic and typicaly Italian, lots of cakes and sweet things which were very good. It would have been nice to have had some nice coffee but the 'Coffee machine' was always out of order..'It needs a service' we were told...the 'auto coffee' machine served dark brown liquid bearing little resemblance to coffee ! A clean up of the outside area where we ate would have been nice. The Astoria is a mid budget hotel, but even so not cheap...but Bologna is not cheap, so market forces dictate. The Astoria is slightly down at heel and needs a good clean and smarten up. The many staff on duty were, on the whole, enthusiastic but always so busy...they also look after several nearby apartments served by the Astoria booking system. I would like to thank the hotel for sending a nice bottle of red wine to my room courtesy of the hotel for my 71st birthday..a nice touch. Would i go back ?...sadly no...in 2023 it just isn't good enough to take my £....

A lovely stay in a historic area on the edge of Bologna old town. We were driving through Italy so picked this hotel based on amenities, location, parking, walking distance and it didn't disappoint. We drove right to the door, unloaded the car, staff parked our car in their nearby garage. I'd booked a quad room but we were upgraded to an apartment (own entrance 20m away) which was nice - great aircon, great wifi, minibar, table & chairs, kettle etc. It was nice to have the extra space. Breakfast in the cute courtyard was lovely. Free water refills all day for your bottles...still or sparkling. All the staff were very nice and accommodating. The walk back to the hotel was quite welcome as we usually overordered, or in need of a refreshing gelato. Area is very safe - i easily walked and sightseed whilst the boys drove to Ferrari & Lamborghini tours. We would stay again - thank you!

Last time I was here was 9 years ago and rest assured nothing has changed , it needs a big touch of TLC . These few days were a nightmare, noisy like hell . Buskers across the street going at it all day with music blurring, one leaves another come like they rent the spot across the hotel . One cannot have a simple rest at any time , street is also noisy at night . The supposed to be double glazing windows are hopeless as simply one can even hear a fart from outside. Everyone knows this hotel is positioned very close to shops and restaurants, the staff do their best to help in every which way they can . Shame that they have to face the complains . But one has to consider it has nothing to do with them , they strive to help you out . Breakfast is more than great , but the rooms needs doing up , our bathroom dates back to the 60’s . Cracked tiles and when someone dares to sit on the toilet he is greeted with the most largest hand wash basin I have ever encountered in my life . It sits a few inches away from your face when you sit down to do your bit , you can easily rest your head and sleep on it , it’s so close. Once again I thank the staff for their hard work and thank them for doing their best . But sorry this will be my second time and my last .

We arrived in Bologna by train and got a taxi to the hotel which takes around 15 minutes and costs approximately 20 euro. The check in staff were polite and we left our luggage with them as we arrived early. We went out exploring and came back and our bags had been put in our room. The room was medium sized, clean and there was tea and coffee making facilities although only paper cups provided. We asked for extra pillows as only one each provided and they kindly obliged. The problems arose when we went to use the shower and barely any water came out. We called the receptionist and she came straight up, she said she’d call maintenance. The shower started working all be it very poorly so I told her not to bother as we wanted to go out. When we got back we had no water at all. Luckily we had brought some bottled water so we used this for our kettle and brushing our teeth. The bed was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep, the air conditioning worked well. The following morning we got up and again no water pressure! Just about enough to brush your teeth, a shower was impossible! This was reported again to the hotel. We even had a neighbouring room knocking on our door asking if we had water as they had none either! This is obviously a major problem this hotel has not addressed. That evening we had a bit of water so I got in the shower which then completely stopped whilst I was covered in soap and my hair full of shampoo. I had to wait 10 minutes for a trickle to come out to rinse myself off! Lucky I don’t have much hair! Our final morning we experienced exactly the same problem. I gave up and didn’t bother plus pointless even asking receptionist as they couldn’t remedy the problem. Breakfast is served in your room which you choose the evening before. First morning we had scrambled eggs and bacon which I found inedible as the eggs were burnt and very hard, this maybe how scrambled eggs are in Italy as my wife pointed out, she was happy to eat them! The following morning we had croissants which were ok. I’d loved to have scored this hotel higher than a two star, however the fundamental of a hotel room is to provide a bed and washing facilities. This hotel only provided us the bed. The city of Bologna is beautiful I will definitely be back however it will be in a different hotel.
