We stayed for 2 nights at Hotel Iyaonsen, and were impressed by the level of service, the food offerings, the condition of the room and especially the Onsen (natural hot springs) quality down in the valley (more on that in a moment.) We were already expecting it to be remotely situated with incredible valley/mountain views, and on that (and all other) fronts, our hopes and expectations were more than met. As other reviewers have already noted, the drive to Hotel Iyaonsen - while not exactly a harrowing experience - is one that requires alertness... the road is barely wide enough for one vehicle, and if you spot a car approaching from the opposite direction, one of the drivers will have to back up to an area where there's sufficient width in the road for both cars to slide past one another. It's also very twisty - so much so, that it's really not practical to be barreling down the mountain pass in any case. Thankfully, there are mirrors placed at the corners of each sharp turn so that drivers are able to see oncoming traffic ahead of time. In my mind, this added to the charm of being somewhere so remote, even if it's a bit of a hassle to get there. We stayed in a room called ”Tamayura” (Room #505, to be exact), which is the top room at the property. It's a corner room located on the top floor, and has an open-air outdoor Onsen bath to boot. Measuring 47m², it pales in comparison to highest category rooms at other ryokans we've stayed at, but the layout made it feel more spacious than its measurements would suggest. Tamayura had a living room, a smaller area where you can enjoy the Valley view, and a separate sleeping area.... none of them were segregated by walls, which added to the airy feel but might bother some guests accustomed to having distinctly separate living/sleeping areas. While it's Japanese in design and decor, it was more modern than traditional. The room had an earthly tone and allowed an abundance of natural light to enter, making it seem fresh and new. The Onsen and shower were located on the deck, and exposed to the elements. Now, I am used to having an open-air Onsen bath (in fact, in most cases I prefer it), but also having to shower outside (before getting into the Onsen) could be painful if it was in the dead of winter. The other drawback has to do with the in-room Onsen itself - it's not of the free-flowing variety; you have to fill it up from scratch each time you bathe. While it probably takes no more than 20 minutes for the bath to fill up, you might spend a bit more time regulating the temperature (by turning either the cold or hot water tap) until it's just right for you. Thankfully, this is made up by the awesome Onsen down in the valley. There is a cable car that shuttles (paying) guests to and from the bottom of the Valley, where there are separate men/women communal Onsen baths. There are also baths that you can rent privately (at extra cost.) All of them were amazing - the hot springs were soft, supple, slippery

Wonderful backpacker place in a renovated former sushi restaurant. Great infrastructure, very friendly management, some of them speak English. It was our first time staying at a Ryokan so I can't really compare but everything was great, food, room, and service.
The onsen has an open air area where you can hear the roar of the river below and enjoy the beautiful view of the mountains.
We arrived at the hotel & was greeted by the staff so warmly as if we were their long lost relatives. The receptionist spoke perfect English during check in & voluntarily upgraded our room. I suppose they were informed that we were there to celebrate my birthday. The place was clean, the service was excellent & matching that of a 5 star hotel. Upon settling down, we went straight to the rotenburo, which is the outdoor onsen, a hot spring bath, that overlooked the mountain & nature. As the rotenburo was situated on the mountain top above the Ryoken, we had to take a cable car which was connected within the hotel in order to reach it. The kaiseki meal for dinner was sumptuous & uniquely Japanese of course. Every dish was explained in detail with much effort. The diners were also seated spaciously in the common dining hall with lots of privacy between them. We were also entertained by a lady staff who sang a Japanese folk song that created that atmosphere which complemented the authentic Japanese meal. It was a relaxing & wonderful Ryoken for us. We were supposed to stay for 2 nights. Unfortunately, we had to abort the stay as my mom had passed on the same night. The staff was so helpful to arrange for us a taxi to send us to the Kochi airport at 0300 hrs to catch the first flight back to Singapore where we came from. What was surprising was that the hotel even refunded us the one night room rate which we had paid but were unable to continue with the stay. We will highly recommend visitors to stay there if they are visiting that area. It is only an hour train ride from Kochi train station & to alight at Oboke station. There’s a direct bus from the Oboke station or you can call a cab which cost about ¥300 which will take about 20 min to arrive. The cab’s companies telephone numbers are written at train the station desk for visitors’ information. Thank you to all staff at Hotel Kazurabashi in Iya Valley. You made our brief stay so enjoyable & memorable too.

貓貓貓達The big step danger and the small step danger are the canyon scenic spots of the four countries of Tokushima in Japan. The river in the valley, the high cliff mountain danger, and the strange stone surprise, is really a great scene away from the red dust. You can take a boat tour, light boats and strong crossings, and watch the scenery carefully. It is a great joy in life.
暝暝逝Zuguxi, among the mountains of Sanhao City, Tokushima Prefecture, is known as a secret environment. The characteristics are highly matched with the characteristics of the four countries and the vast and rare people. The desert mountains and mountains and cliffs are full of eyes. The flowing water, bridges, mountain houses, and paths here are the same as you see in TV dramas and animations. The style is very rich in Japanese. If there is any way to restore my fantasy of mountain valleys, one in Shangri-La's countryside, and the Zugu River is another.
暝暝逝Zugu is in the middle of the four countries, and the four countries themselves are the sparsely populated areas in Japan. Because of the terrain, many places are not livable. The Zugu in the deep mountains is similar to China's Shennongjia. The area is remote and there are many strange talk. Of course, the generation likes the deep mountains, so Zugu relies on Zugu Creek and Geteng Bridge, hot springs and other landscape tourism business is not bad, the stream characteristics are particularly in line with the origin of the deep mountain case in Japanese criminal investigation drama (anime), it is estimated that there is no less scene.
1137***66[View] Really don't regret walking up the mountain road because the view is great! After arriving at the top, you can see the city at a glance. We entered the area and were escorted by a driver who put us down at the start of the cross-country race. The trail is about1.6 kilometers away. It should be noted that there are many steps and heights vary. Although we went there on a sunny day, I think the road will be slippery if the weather is bad. Therefore, individuals will recommend wearing the right clothes, but more importantly, wearing the right shoes! It will take2-3 hours to fully enjoy the climb up and down!
MM32***23[View] Aozu Valley Scarecrow Puppet Village is so exciting! There is a paid parking lot near the bridge so you can stop there. The bridge is a one-way street. [Fun] Please pay at the entrance and get tickets. Those who are not good at the heights will be scared. There is quite a gap between the boards at the foot. [Cost-effective] I was attracted by autumn, but it was wonderful autumn leaves.
