Quinta Vale da Roca

A small but lovely house in a stunning setting overlooking vineyards to the sea below. The small staff looked after us very well and also provided an excellent breakfast. If a light supper had been on offer we would have preferred to eat in. However some local eateries were a short distance away. Lots to see and do in this area.

We booked this place for a slice of the peace and quiet life and we weren't disappointed. We had the Pinot Noir room, and the views from the room were just stunning. It was close to the pool but not so close that any noise was annoying. The room was nicely furnished and it was silent at night. The little terrace was great for enjoying a drink. Breakfast was lovely each day - mostly pastries, cheese, ham, cereals and bread, but also some amazing eggs! The pool is nice with a great view and it's a nice touch to have the inside room with the hot tub for when the clouds come down. My wife booked a massage and we also went on a tour of the wine estate with the winemaker which was booked via phone. Both were nice experiences, you just need to be organised a few days in advance. It wasn't hard to find, if you do a bit of research with Google before setting off, and the handful of restaurants in the village make it walkable to other things. HOWEVER, my wife did find the gravel tracks between the village and Quinta to be a little dark and dingy. It seems unfair to give this place a 4* review, but there is room for improvement. The staff who run and operate it are nice, and know what they are doing, but are not able to sort any problems, you have to scan a QR code on the desk in the communal area to speak to someone. Do not expect any "service" here - it's not a B&B with a host. The information provided in the room was scant and didn't cover the basics, let alone other useful information. Plus there are maintenance issues; the TV didn't work in our room the whole time, despite us reporting this twice, there were also damp patches on the walls which had been painted over (badly). Things are starting to be in need of repair. But ultimately these things did not spoil the peace and tranquility and we had a great time.

The place is amazing! Great location on the southwest. Close to Cascais, Sintra and Cabo da roca. It is cosy, very good breakfast, breathtaking views and good service. We stayed 3 nights and we had a wonderful time. I totally recommend it, you won’t regret it.

Wir waren drei Tage auf der Quinta; die Lage und Architektur der Quinta ist einfach traumhaft. Hier haben sich die Architekten und Erschaffer richtig viel Gedanken gemacht! Hoch über dem Atlantik mit weitem Blick über den Weinberg und wunderschönen Garten aufs Meer. Wir waren in einem DZ mit Meerblick untergebracht, dass leider stark nach Abfluss roch, was anscheinend anhand der vorherigen Bewertungen ein generelles Problem hier zu sein scheint. Auch der Staub im Kleiderschrank war nicht sehr einladend. Das ganze Anwesen mit seinen ehemals hochwertigen Möbel und Ausstattung wird leider, bis auf den wirklich traumhaften Garten, nicht mit der ihm gebührenden Sorgfalt gepflegt und an vielen Stellen besteht Renovierungsbedarf. Der Pool war dreckig, daher haben wir ihn nicht genutzt. Die Liegen sind verrostet. Es gibt auch einen Spa Bereich mit Sauna und Whirlpool , der aber nur nach Anmeldung genutzt werden kann und dementsprechend nicht gepflegt wird. Das Frühstücksbuffet war gut und wurde von freundlichen Mitarbeitern vorbereitet. Ansonsten fehlt hier leider komplett die Gastgebermentalität. Der Inhaber, der auf dem Grundstück wohnt, hat sich während unseres Aufenthalts leider nicht ein Mal gezeigt. Das kennen wir aus anderen B&Bs anders. Die Quinta ist eigentlich ein Juwel, ihr Potential wird leider nicht genutzt.

L'endroit est merveilleux. Mais il n'y a pas de service : une lampe de chevet cassée non remplacée, des bouteilles de savon de toilette non rechargés, un service petit déjeuner sans service, et je passe sur les erreurs de facturation. A croire que la propriétaire, très gentille d'ailleurs, se fiche des milles petits détails qui font qu'un séjour est réussit!

Les photos donnaient envie et nous n'avons pas été déçus : l'établissement procure une vue superbe sur la mer, que ce soit des chambres ou de la piscine. Accueil sympathique de la propriétaire de ce domaine vinicole, petit déjeuner copieux et varié. Nous avions la chambre Malvasia dans un petit cabanon en pierre avec petite terrasse, jolie, bien équipée mais un peu sombre à notre goût et le ménage est à améliorer. Il est d'ailleurs étrange qu'au prix de la nuit (195€), on nous demande le matin si nous voulons que la chambre soit faite... Un frigo avec des bouteilles du domaine que vous pouvez déguster (à partir de 15€). Un verre d'accueil avec le vin du domaine pourrait être organisé pour rendre le séjour un peu moins impersonnel. De bons petits restaurants accessibles à pied.
