Center Parcs Park de Haan

We booked a VIP lakeside cottage, what we got was dirty and basic. Even after reporting our concerns, a rude house keeper turned up, wiped the floor again and left. The banister was unsecure, missing smoke alarm in one bedroom, and mould growing on the wall in one room. The towels included in the VIP service are paper thin and very small, not a bath towel by any means. Really disappointed. Reading other reviews, I'm certainly not surprised cleanliness is mentioned time and time again. Evidently no one from European center parcs reads trip advisor as it would have been addressed by now if they did. We also paid for the half board option so the ability to eat at the buffet each night, but the food, whilst ok is not labelled. This means you are guessing what food there is and most importantly what the allergens are. This is not the European center parcs experience I've come to expect, so poor.

We stayed in a comfort lodge which was mid-range pricing for 4 people, we thought the lodge was small for 4 and the layout impractical. The toilet/shower was downstairs and bedrooms upstairs. I don't understand why there is a baby gate at the top and not the bottom for baby who wanted to climb the stairs. And there is no room for your stuff in the kitchen cupboards. Heating is too low and insulation poor so we were cold and we kept hitting our heads on the ceiling upstairs we're not particularly tall at 5ft 2. On the other hand there was a massive indoor soft play included which was great, we went nearly everyday it was the biggest we've been to and we stayed for hours. The pool was also included and the farm too. I did not like that towels were not included and then for some reason a voucher was offered to book when you arrived which is odd since I bought my towels with me by then. I wasn't pleased we had to make our own beds when arriving at night tired. This centreparcs was OK for the price but I preferred les villages in Paris over this one, but still miles better then the UK centreparcs. Bruges and Ghent are not far away and worth a visit. We went to carrefour and delhaize for supermarket food nearby.

If you’re reading this it’s probably because you’re being hesitant about heading here after reading the reviews. Wow, do I wish I’d listened. Upon booking I was being rational thinking, people only complain and never compliment and went ahead and booked it. I sincerely wish I never did. Please please read the reviews and do not make the same mistake I did. I will NEVER return and NEVER recommend this place. I’ve listed very briefly below the issues I had but to sum it up. My husband said he’s stayed on barracks better than this place. We were so disappointed and had such a bad back from the beds we actually checked out early as we couldn’t wait to leave. For context, a couple in their 30’s and a 2 year old. The ONLY positives I have are. Soft play was great, and the free petting farm and a 30 minute drive to Bruges. Cons - very very small park, can do the whole thing in 2 days max. Plus all the below. I wish center parcs would take notice of the reviews and do some very much maintenance. Yellow stained duvets Stained and lumpy pillow cases Stained baby mattress Dusty everywhere Ants in the kitchen Floors hadn’t been hoovered and no broom to sweep so bits on your feet. Hadn’t been mopped/cleaned No essentials/amenities like hand soap or towels Dirty walls One plug socket in living room Laminate floors coming away from the floor Cobwebs in most of the corners No lock on the front door on the inside. 2 year old can reach handle and escape Knife found in the garden (genuinely my daughter was waving a sharp kitchen knife around) Bikes in appalling condition Cars on the park constantly throughout the week Lorry’s delivering through the main park (no service entrance) I repeat… do not go here.

Our trip to Center Parcs with our little ones was a blast! The place had a cozy vibe, but our accommodation was a tad small and had a few ant visitors, which wasn't a huge surprise. One thing that kept us on our toes were the stairs with those wide gaps – definitely not toddler-proof! But hey, the kids had a blast at the play parks and the huge soft play area – total lifesaver, especially on rainy days. And swimming? Oh, they loved it! Sure, the restaurants were okay (not the best food) but they were pricey. Thankfully, we found an Aldi nearby for some budget-friendly snacks. And a half-hour drive to Bruges? Day trip jackpot! Overall, it was a fun stay, but we've had even better times at other Center Parcs spots or Bluestone in Wales

The park and activities for this Center Parcs were good for small children. There is a lovely woodland walk to the beach within a 20 minute walking distance from the main site. The staff were friendly. The site is smaller than you would expect and lots of the activities are in the same small area. My son loved the soft play. What really lets Parc De Haan down is the accomodation. We paid for a premium cottage but what we recieved was very basic and unclean. We got the bed linen as part of the package but no towels, but we bought our own anyway. Upon first glance you would say it was nice enough but upon future inspection the quality of the cleaning was very poor. There was lost property from the previous people staying left in the cottage that hadn't been removed and the mircowave oven still had chips left inside. My son dropped some milk on the floor and when we wiped the floor the wipe was black. The fire was also being repaired and left open and exposed which may not have been safe for smaller children. The windows were dirty and rubbish had been left in the garden. It was difficult to find out who to speak to and air concerns as the building on the map marked information/reception was closed. After reading previous reviews upon returning home, that mention the same complaint about cleanliness, I would have thought this would have been addressed by now. As good a time we had in the facilites in the main complex and exploring the surrounding area we won't be returning to this center parcs due to poor standard of cleanliness in the cottages.

For the price we paid in comparision to the CP in the UK, particularly for a 4 day Easter weekend, we felt it was good and we had a great time. Our first stay in a Center Parcs in Europe and we chose this one as it was the nearest to the ferry. We always love Belgium and this time was no different. The beach and the town of De Haan, along with the people, were brilliant. So many positives to type for the area around the park but I will focus here on the park. The location is amazing in all ways. Pros Staff were great - amazing English spoken, helpful, courteous Park overall was well maintained and clean/tidy Surroundings and landscaping were pleasant Lovely outdoor parks, places to sit Shop well stocked and not extortionate Accommodation suitable enough and clean Beach and town very near by Soft play great - even for my 11 year old with his 8 year old sister! There was some entertainment on offer Activities not too pricey Pool had enough to keep us entertained for our 3 nights away Go karts were fun and well priced Farm area good for the kids Swimming changing rooms - even when busier, always able to find one. Clean. Linen was cotton! (super important for us!) Various restaurant options and fast food place The rapids were brilliant. Sufficient parking Everything ran when it said it would Houses each had own garden, garden furniture and BBQ Cons Accommodation is basic and grass needed mowing. Some rubbish in garden (just sweet packets) which I needed to clear on arrival Aquadome needed maintenance in parts - we only had Woburn to compare to though Not all lockers locked in the changing rooms A couple of paid for items in the soft play (trampolines and cars) did not work Accommodation smelt very faintly of smoke and windows needed cleaning. We felt on the rapids there really should have been a life guard monitoring people going through one at a time for safety.

Awful just awful! We had a 4 bedroom cottage with 8 of us 6 adults and 2 young children, the cottage was filthy dirty, so much so there were ants everywhere! We had no bed linen or towels. The duvets and pillows looked ancient the beds old, the towels are paper thin and tiny! I asked for extra towels, as we were staying there for 3 nights 4 days I was told by a very snotty reception, “we are not a hotel if you want towels it’s €4.50 each” anytime we asked for anything it was a chore or we were told no, the staff were rude and unhelpful, the accommodation is dated old dirty, we had to wipe our feet on the way out! honestly save your money and go to be better Centerparcs as this one is poor However the rapids in the pool was good as was the food at restaurants but your paying for that so as expected

Very small compared to the ones in Elveden and Nottingham but still enjoyable. We had the same lodge as the last time we went and they still haven't fixed the heating in the downstairs bedroom. Staff were very helpful though and the place was very clean.

Absolutely disgusted, we had Garden Maintenance directly behind out Lodge for the whole 4 Days, reception promised to solve this and it just got worse as the week went on, we had togo out every day to avoid the noise of chain saws from 8.30am every day and then the addition of a branch shredder about 4ft from our window. Complained everyday on site and NOTHING was done or suggested. Complained directly on my return and offered 140 euros off another holiday, the cost of this one was 768 euros! Ridiculous, Centre Parcs is supposed tobe a haven of peace not a building site!
