My wife and I stayed with friends at Joy Island for seven all-inclusive day in mid-Feb 2025. While initially skeptical that an all-in deal would be accepted, we were delighted to discover that the food at The Market, the resort’s main restaurant was excellent and the serving staff most friendly and pleasant. The selections of wine and bar drinks was also very good. I dived six times from the dive centre at resort run by Victor. The centre is brand new and equipped with all the best dive gear for rental, so no need to bring your own. I was accompanied by dive master Adam, who is a seasoned professional who knows his way around the locals reefs and keeps us safe. Every dive was wonderful. I want to name a few staff personally, with apologies to those we forgot. Reethu serving from the bar was lovely; in the restaurant there were so many, but Phub, Hilson, Alisha, Mary, Swarta(?) come to mind. Sorry for the poor spellings. We did not understand why the resort has two restaurants which are not inclusive. The Palm Bar, at the far end of the resort near the apartments on stilts makes sense, so people staying there don’t have so far to walk; what’s harder to understand is why the Italian restaurant, next to The Market, tries to charge $18 for a pizza or pasta when there’s an Italian section in The Market itself. No wonder it’s always empty. We suggest making this part of the all-inclusive deal or changing it to an exclusive Thai or Japanese restaurant perhaps? Other than that, full marks to everyone for making our stay truly memorable. Thank you.
