We had an experience with management at Dillon Beach Resort that left us feeling uncomfortable during our stay and a reason we'll never return. As you read through, this sounds like it's about a blanket, but it's about being gaslighted by management after learning part of a promo shared by this company is something they never intended to honor. My family was looking for a last minute getaway and stumbled across the Dillon Beach Resort Facebook page and saw a promotion for 50% off + the Stay & Play Package - awesome deal so we jumped on it! My daughter's were excited about the Mexican blanket and game offered in the promo so after seeing Mexican blankets in the general store while waiting for our room they started wondering if we got to pick one of those! During check-in we asked and were told, "We already have a blanket for you in your cottage, and it's a fleece one". We thought, let's go check it out. When we saw it, we were curious why it was a different blanket than advertised, simply because we saw 30+ Mexican blankets in the General Store so it didn't seem like supply ran out. I walked back to the check-in cottage and said "I'm so sorry, as this may seem silly, but my girls had their hearts set on a blanket like the one advertised, is there any way we could trade the fleece in for the advertised blanket?". The woman replied, no, sorry, we noted that the contents of the package are subject to change in the Facebook post. I said, you did, but with stock not running out do you know why a change in the package was made? She replied, we don't offer Mexican blankets with the 50% off lodging deal as the cost of the Mexican blanket is $45 and the cost of the blanket we gave you is $22. I said, that makes sense price wise, but your facility created a promo that specifically states "a Mexican blanket" with the 50% off promo. She said, yes, we need to edit the picture in the promo as it's not correct. I said, but you double down and also put it in writing so it's not just a wrong picture used. She says, yes, but we also wrote contents are subject to change so it covers that. I was feeling so confused why a promo for items never intended to be given was posted so I said, how is something that you never intend to offer in the first place subject to change - the promo is false advertising if you never intend to offer the item written about and photographed. She said sorry, subject to change means subject to change. I was baffled and frustrated at this point that the promo was admitted to be a lie and never intended to be given and said this experience warrants a bad review because it is a lie and then I walked away. I never once raised my voice or got angry, but did say false advertising is wrong and warrants a bad review. An hour or so later we received a call from the manager who offered to exchange the fleece blanket for the one offered in THEIR PROMO. We said thank you and my husband took my daughter to the general store to pick one out. While at the
