The Waverley Inn

A new manager before Christmas had made major improvements all round but he left after 8 days due to exhaustion, lack of support and being bullied by the often inebriated manager of the sister hotel, Waverley Inn Lodge. He told me there are various ongoing issues & improprieties, including theft by a senior manager who has victimised a long term guest and has been reported to police. Unfortunately it's now back to old ways; and they're not good. Unmanned reception. Staff arguing with a long term guest in open forum. This guest interfering in other guests' business. Room ensuites thick with mold. Curtains hanging off rails. Poor standard of housekeeping. Front door open all night is very disconcerting. Continental breakfast is diabolical. Stale, frozen 10p loaves of bread, old pancakes, frozen croissants, butter portions not refrigerated. I could go on. Milk out of date, coffee luke warm. Staffing levels are appalling. The manager of Waverley Lodge oversees operations. He is thoroughly unpleasant & unprofessional and has no idea how to treat guests or his staff. All this is evident to guests like me. It's like being in a slightly sinister soap. Wicked Waverley! This place is relatively cheap but it's a Hammer House of Horrors that's best avoided. Pay a little more and go to The National Hotel opposite.

An ant infested, filthy, dilapidated dump! The stuff of nightmares! Liked · Nothing! Disliked · I booked 5 rooms for 9 people. We were touring Scotland on motorcycles, and we are not very picky, as long as the accomodation is comfy and clean. And boy did this place disappoint! The room I was in had extensive mould on the ceiling in both the bedroom area and bathroom, as had all the rooms. Both shower doors were hanging off, there was a foot gap at the top when the 2 doors were closed! I placed a bag on a shelving unit in the room and it fell to pieces literally! The TV was smashed where somebody had physically broken the screen. Everyone of the rooms were covered in mould. A number of the rooms were infested with ants! And it gets better! 2 of the guys entered their room to be met with a durex wrapper on the floor and dried blood on the carpet and floor! Curtains were falling down in all of the rooms. There was so much more wrong but I would have to publish this review in volume form! We have stayed in a lot of hotels over the years, with absolutely no complaints, but never in our wildest nightmares thought we would grace such a hellhole! It was evident none of the rooms were never cleaned prior to our stay and the bedsheets were not changed. How this place is not closed as a health hazard is beyond me! Needless to say we did not even consider breakfast the next morning as we could not wait to leave. I normally would check reviews before booking hotels for our trip, but this location was a last minute change. I would be very dubious about the origin of any review that appears to compliment this dive! Do not even contemplate staying here if you value your health!

Worst hotel ever! If could have given a minus score I would have! Where to start? Stood 10 minutes waiting at reception Then taken to what can only be described as a cupboard posing as a single room ( booked a double btw) No heating Filthy sheets/pillows Complained to the young boy on reception who shrugged his shoulders and said wasn’t his problem! Finally moved to another building around corner away from family above a snooker/pool hall no security.to room more dirtier than the street outside! Once again no heating mouldy and uninhabitable! To sum this place up! Dirty cold damp and better service in Iraq!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!

We came down to reception and complained about our room. Blood on walls, bedroom and bathroom uncleaned. We complained about the door jam, you can see into the room from lobby and vice versa. To be told there is maintenance. You cannot give a client a key for the room at check in and then on complaint say there is maintenance. Asked for another room and raise your voice. To be given a key to another room that had feces on the floor and STILL in the toilet.

Fan in bathroom covered in dust and stuff Walls and ceiling mouldy Tap in sink hanging on Rusty finishing Shower revolting sludge and mould around base Breakfast was there if we wanted we got out of there asap.

Stayed over as I was working in the area. When I first arrived the first thing I noticed was the floors had not been hoovered in a while. Theres was also a string smell of damp, rotting food, and other things I would rather not say. Big damp patches and peeling wall paper in the reception/room you have your breakfast in. Was told my room was ready. Went to said room and it was dirty and the bed was not made. Went back down to reception and given another room. The room was slightly cleaner. Though still dirty. The room was also full of flies. Bed sheets were dirty and had hair in them, and a blood stained pillow case. I went and asked for bedding and changed my own bed. I then went and bought cleaning stuff and cleaned my own room. Hoovered, fly spray, disinfected the toilet. The shower was a trickle, just enough to get wet. And I heard others showers were not working at all. I had to sleep with the bedroom window wide open or the room stank of staleness dampness, rotten food. My room was directly above the pool hall. So loud music at night. The TV did not work. Wifi non existent. Ok if you like listening to the Vengaboys on repeat. Only one member of staff doing everything. Basically you’re told it is what it is. Don’t like it, go elsewhere. Which many many people did during our stay. I witnessed one work party stay 10 minutes, refuse all of their rooms and leave for alternative accommodation. Please do not waste your money and book the hotel. I actually felt dirty staying there.
