Wingate by Wyndham Dublin Near Claytor Lake State Park

Would stay at this hotel again. We used to break up a drive, so checked in 10:30pm. Was safe/ secure and clean. Conveniently off 81. You can hear traffic and heater was a bit loud but if not a picky sleeper, you will be fine. Spacious room. Simple breakfast provided.

Let’s start with the positive. Pillows are soft and bed was comfortable. Room was clean. Towels were very soft which is a plus. This hotel is undergoing renovation and was a sleep inn prior. Everything is old. Stains on comforter, curtains, carpets in halls are nasty looking. Bathtub enamel is peeled off. No coffee pot in room. Breakfast is waffles cereal yogurt bagels donuts hard boiled eggs ans package oatmeal. Coffee is bland Ice machines are not working. Close this building down until the renovation is done. Come on Wyndham

DO NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL! I booked a block group for my daughters ball team. We had approximately 8 rooms. When we arrived, there was no elevator. We had to use the stairs all weekend. Our rooms had mold all over the ceiling and they were dirty. We talked to the front desk but there was nothing they could do. She said they are renovating and the rooms we have are the best they have….which was disgusting. One of our families attempted to switch rooms bc the mold was so bad but then had to come back bc the other room was WAY worse. When we went down for breakfast, the trays were empty. At one point there was sausage, biscuits and gravy but it was all empty when we got there. We got down there at 730am. Then the morning before checkout, one of our moms got bit up by bed bugs. She has pictures and then bites all over here. This is ridiculous and this hotel needs to be shutdown to be renovated. If we would have read the reviews online before booking all these rooms, we NEVER would have booked her. This hotel is in an unacceptable condition and the manger said sorry no refunds. I wish we would have believed the reviews.

The staff was nice, but that is about where my positive opinions stop. Our room reeked of cigarette smoke the entire trip. There was an air freshener in there, but it seemed incredibly old and did nothing. There was mold in the bathroom, including on the shower curtain. The elevator broke after the first night of our stay, leaving us to take the stairs. As someone who has struggled with breathing problems, this made it very difficult for the third floor. We did not move for fear of a worse room. There were also stink bugs EVERYWHERE, including in our room and covering a curtain at the end of the third floor hallway near the staircase (see photo attached). I also use a breathing device when I sleep, and upon returning home, I found it also still reeks of cigarette smoke. This is a necessary medical device as well, so I pray this issue will not persist. Would not recommend.

small (human) hairs all in the bed sheets. mold on curtain in the room. empty soda cans left under the beds. already used toilet paper in bathroom. wall had what looked like feces on it. fridge was so loud it kept me up all night (along with the smell, smells like cigarettes and mildew). i traveled with a large group and somebody else’s room smelled absolutely atrocious walking in. turns out there was poop left in the toilet that appeared to be there for a very very long time. when we went to the front desk to bring up the issue she was nonchalant and acted like it was just another day on the job. elevator broken so it’s not handicap accessible for anyone that needs that. dirty dirty dirty dirty.
