Everything was amazing, we really enjoyed our stay, great service, lovely big room, awesome cave bar, delicious breakfast included, gorgeous view!!

One of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at with endless stunning views of old town, which is a short walk away. The beach area is a relaxing area to spend a day with several lounge chairs, quick access to the crystal clear sea, and staff to take your drink and food orders. The outdoor bar area is the perfect spot to drink a glass of local wine while watching the sunset. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. I was upgraded to a room with a terrace and had the best view of the fireworks show.

Amazing hotel. All the staff were so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Spectacular views from the balcony, especially the sunsets. Really clean and comfortable- lots of toiletries in the bathroom - you don’t need to bring anything. Great spa area n the top floor - theres also a hot tub and sunbeds on the roof - I don’t think anyone knows about this as we were the only ones there. Breakfast was lovely, if there’s nothing there for you - you must be super fussy. Plentiful, well cooked. We also ate in the taverna restaurant which was also very good. We had good weather so used the pool area, plenty of sunbeds. You can also swim in the sea here. Really convenient to explore Dubrovnik. There’s a bus stop right outside the hotel that takes you to the old town every 20 minutes, very cheap too. Taxis come really quick from the hotel. Definitely have to walk the walls in old town. Cable car to the top with spectacular views. Old town is beautiful, lots of shops if that what you want to do. Didn’t have time to do any trips, but will definitely be coming back to do those. We walked a lot, exploring the local area so if you are into walking then you will be fine. We ate in the old town - a recommended restaurant Taj Mahal. Bosnian restaurant, delicious food (not cheap) but perfect for a special meal. Definitely recommend this hotel and the area. We had an amazing 3 nights - and wish we had booked longer.

As many of the other reviews state this hotel is not in the old city - it is a 20min walk (about 2km) down to the old city, which in the heat of the midday sun can be an issue for some, particularly if you are trekking uphill back to the hotel. The best alternative option is to catch the #4 bus from the Pile Gate and then get off on the 4th stop which is 100m away from the hotel (4min bus ride). There are not a large number of reasonable restaurants close by and the on-premises Bosnian restaurant (Taj Mahal) cannot be booked to the room. It is a mid-range hotel built in the 1970s, so it does have an older feel. It is not that large, with just over 150 rooms but larger than the boutique hotels we were used to staying it on our Croatian trip. We stayed in one of their classic rooms - without any view (unless you count the adjoining building as a view). The double bed was just two single beds pushed together, which meant disappearing down the crevice in-between regularly during the night. I'd suggest booking a superior room, which are larger, more modern, in the newer wing of the hotel and include a bathtub. The Wi-Fi was easy to access and relatively fast. The air conditioning only be turned on when the room key was inserted, which meant, dependent on the room orientation, you could come back to a warm room which might take some time to cool down. They only supplied one bottle of water for entire stay, which they could easily address. The swimming pool is fairly small, almost always in shade and can only be accessed via the lobby (doesn't have any change facilities by the pool). We arrived in the morning, well before the 2pm check-in, and whilst they stored our luggage and offered us use of the pool whilst we waited there really wasn't anywhere to get changed and take up the offer. The breakfast, included in the room tariff, was a reasonable quality with a relatively choice of options however it didn't vary at all during our five-day stay. The lobby/foyer can get congested at times when larger tour groups arrive, with all their luggage in tow. The staff were polite and endeavoured to help us where they could. Not my favourite accommodation in Croatia but serviceable for what we needed.

We went to Dubrovnik and spend a beatiful week in this apartment. Apartment was equipped with all the equipment, from the kitchen to the equipment for washing clothes, so everything was at our fingertips. The maids are very kind and we had daily cleaning every other day where they even took out the trash. The staff at the reception kindly welcomed us and after a quick check-in took us to the apartment. We would recommend this facility to everyone because it is very accommodating, luxurious and has everything you need. Not to forget that they immediately delivered a babycot for a small baby upon request.

Please listen to me when I say this this not the place for you. Let me preface this by saying, I have worked in hotels and completely understand that things break and it’s out of our control. It’s the complete lack of communication from the management that I take issue with. To start, when I booked through ******* weeks before my arrival I messaged the hotel and asked if I could come store my bags since I would be there prior to check in time. No answer. That should have been my first clue about their atrocious customer service. I forgot about it until the day before and messaged them again via *******. Still no answer. I found them via WhatsApp and messaged them at 7:29 am. Almost three full hours later they finally responded that yes, I could drop my luggage off (spoiler alert- I had given up on getting a response and already went straight to the property and dropped it off with the guy at check in). They also said that the lock on my door was broken and wouldn’t be fixed until the next day and they could provide other accommodation. Unfortunately I did not see their message because I was exploring old town and at the beach and didn’t realize there was an issue until I went to check into the room around 3:00 pm and could not lock the door. I went downstairs and informed the check in guy who said he would contact the manager. Ok no big deal, I thanked him and went back to my room and waited and waited, and finally contacted the manager via WhatsApp again and asked about another room if this one could not be fixed. They said there was no other rooms available tonight and that hopefully the repairman would be able to resolve the issue (3:45 pm). Why did they offer alternative accommodation if they had no rooms available?? I wait some more and finally decide I need to shower so I lock the bathroom door since I couldn't lock the actual room door. Fast forward to me being locked in the bathroom for a good ten minutes. Long enough for me to begin to panic because my phone was in the main room and would anyone hear me? I finally get the bathroom door open and clearly there has been no repairman during this time. I message the manager again (4:45pm) and asked if they knew when he would be here as I was getting very hungry now. I can see they are online. No response. Twenty min later I texted them a “?” Again I see them come online. Still no response. I finally just grab anything that important that I wouldn’t want stolen and head to dinner. In the meantime I contact ******* to make sure this whole situation is documented. The ******* representative also contacted the manager and did not get a response. 50 minutes later I message them again that this is unprofessional and unacceptable and also their listing is still showing on Kayak yet they said they had no rooms available. Like I said I totally get that these things happen. What upsets me is that their way of dealing with it was to completely ignore me instead of checking in and keeping me updated wi

Just arrived back in the UK from a fantastic trip to Dubrovnik, local area brilliant, great restaurants and easy reliable transport links to Old Town and then to Cavtat, these two areas are a must above and beyond just Lapad Bay. Apologies for having to write a long review but I simply didn’t have time to write you a short one. However, having studied lots of these reviews and feedback I have seen very little in terms of them being actioned, so for what’s it worth they need repeating. Food on an evening (half board ain’t worth it) of which we tried once was terrible unless you wanted grilled trout? Avoided for the rest of the week as the dining hall suffered from major food smells which was really off putting. A double bed is two singles pushed together then advertise it as such rather than say double room, in a very outdated room to say the least, a very tired fridge sat in a wood cabinet with a cheap tv isn’t what I would expect at 4 star level. Everyday you get food smells coming up into the room into the bathroom suggesting poor ventilation and design, very off putting to the point of it turning the stomach . Gym was basically the size of a living room with some very old equipment and anymore than two people you wouldn’t be able to conduct any workouts, to that end avoided and thought let’s go for a swim, then again let’s not now as I can see what appears to be heavy rust stains, dirty grout and bird lime in the bottom, come on earn the 4 stars and give value for money. I didn’t see a single person in them. I used the sea which was perfect just down the road. Very slow to pop the fizz at breakfast without prompts. That said breakfast was adequate but the standard between breakfast and evening meal was night and day. The best part was the cleaner on floor 2 who kept things spotless and always had a smile and greeted us daily. Most of the staff were friendly from what we saw. I walked around other 4 and 5 stars locally and spent my money in them instead, I will be going back to Lapad and Dubrovnik but wouldn’t rebook at Uvala until significant upgrades have been carried out. Based on the experience I couldn’t morally recommend this to anyone. Over priced and under invested in. I would also make a comment that even the TUI rep doesn’t base out that hotel and uses another one Grand Park I wonder why? Hmmm to avoid earache from holiday makers me thinks. I reported none of this to the hotel as I simply don’t have time to be stood complaining at the reception especially when it’s all been said in prior trip advisor reviews previously. Update all of your sales literature with current as/is states as it feels like a hoodwinking exercise. Graded at Average by a whisker. Regards Steve

The room was very clean and spacious, they don't seem to have double room, all are twin room. The location is slightly inconvenient, it is true that it is only 5 minutes walk away from the main bus station, it is quite far from old town, you either have to walk 45 minutes up and down the mountains to get to old town, alternatively, you will have to catch a 15 minutes bus ride, which comes every 15 minutes.
