Family room is big, with well equipped kitchen. However, parking is not free, and costs $15 per night.

This hotel is very self effacing. It says it is a 4 star but in fact it is better than that! Upon arrival we were welcomed and were lucky enough to be given an upgrade to a one bedroom suite. The room was absolutely spotless and the the servicing of the room was faultless! The bar is pleasant and service second to none! The restaurant was special. The food was at a very high standard as was the service! We loved this hotel and will stay there whenever we are in Dunedin

Easy and quick check in. Room was lovely and spacious, separate bedroom and lounge with a small fridge/jug. Housekeeping was excellent. Location is a few minutes walk from the Octagon, a bit of a climb walking back up, but doable, even though I huffed and puffed a little 🤣. The lift isn’t the fastest, only had to wait once during our 4 night stay. Requested a late check out as my flight to auckland wasn’t until the late afternoon, which was accommodated with a smile. Front desk was friendly and helpful. Would happily stay here again.

Stayed two nights at this hotel which is located right in the CBD with an easy walk to the Dunedin Railway Station and Octagon where many cafes and restaurants are located. The hotel is situated down an alleyway but instructions received in an email from the hotel prior to arrival explained in detail how to get to the hotel. Our room was a good size with a king-sized bed along with a single bed. It was clean and serviced promptly each morning. The staff are friendly and reception suggested we have breakfast at The Good Oil just across the road. Would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers.

My daughter and I stayed recently in May at this motel. Because my daughter has a sleep apnoea machine we needed two bedrooms. Barry kindly gave us a unit upstairs which had a large possibly king size bed in one room and, in the lounge room, there was a single bed. Both beds were very comfortable and we slept well. Nice and quiet, no traffic noise. The bathroom with huge, the water was hot, towels were supplied every day. The unit was refreshed daily. New tea towels, detergent, shampoo. Spotlessly clean unit, had Netflix available as well as Sky TV. You could use the washing machine and dryer for four dollars, but we didn’t bother with that. I read somewhere that two of the units have washing machines in them. The kitchen had recently been refitted, microwave, hot plates, eating area of table and chairs. Handy location to stay in Dunedin, close to everything, warm and comfortable, parking on site. Barry and Donna went out of their way to make our stay very enjoyable for which we are thankful and acknowledge their friendliness and advice. Would definitely recommend,

We had another fabulous stay at Scenic Hotel Dunedin City. This hotel is centrally situated with everything in easy walking distance.. The staff are welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and tidy with fabulous views. I highly recommend and would stay at Scenic Hotels in other regions.

Pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a small sterile room, but was impressed with the size. Good size table to work from, 2 comfy chairs and good sized bathroom. Good facitlities and good breakfast at the onsite restaurant. No Aircon, but here was a fan to cool the room down. Only downside was that the light in the bathroom was falling off the ceiling but that will be easily fixed. TV doesn't tilt so you have to be sitting on the bed to watch it, which was a pain. All else was good. Good onsite parking.

This was our fourth visit to Dunedin and each time we stay at 97 Moray. In truth ithe motel is becoming somewhat dated but the rooms are spacious and comfortable. It was good to see that our bathroom had been modernised. Whilst it is not your modern complex , it is a very pleasant place to stay, literally three minutes walk from the Octagon with all its restaurants and cafes. i doubt we could get anything better for our buck! The staff are always so very helpful and whilst their continental breakfast was not available because of Covid, they still offered to serve it in our room. Its a perfectly adequate breakfast and all for $6 ! We will continue staying at 97 Moray on all future visits to Dunedin.

I booked this hotel based on Trip Advisor comments and their online advertising showing gardens and states “76 rooms in relaxed garden setting”. Our room was not in or near a “relaxed garden setting”. Photos show room views of the gardens, people sitting on their patios surrounded by gardens, and interior shots of common areas. The fact is that the hotel is situated between two major one-way streets which are Highway 1, the main north-south highway running through central Dunedin which has heavy traffic from 0630 to 2200. After walking around the site, I figured about half the rooms are facing either of the one-way streets, the other half facing the interior gardens of the ‘U’ shaped building. Our east side room was on the first floor by the tradesman entrance where suppliers parked to unload provisions for the hotel and faced the one-way highway heading south. With the hotel being located at the bottom of steep hill, we often heard big trucks downshifting to slow down. We had to keep our window open since there is no a/c or heating system which would circulate fresh air (there was a floor fan, but it wouldn’t have brought in fresh air). Internet didn’t work (photo), two of four ceiling lights in the bathroom were burned out and we could hear the occupants of the adjoin rooming room through the connecting door as though they were in our room. Our room had to be the least desirable room at this hotel, yet I paid the same price I paid for the garden view room for our daughter. I would not recommend staying at this hotel as there’s a 50-50 chance of being put in a highway facing room being subject to traffic noise rather than a quieter garden facing room. Not booking a room at the Scenic Hotel near the Octagon, where we stayed on a previous visit, was a mistake.
