Where do I start? I booked the townhouse Durham for a birthday treat for my partner, I saw pictures previously on social media before arriving but WOW. Every single room is different, the attention to detail in every room is magnificent. We stayed in the garden room. From the second we walked in I was blown away. From the bedroom to the hot tub area, the detail was incredible. The bathroom had underfloor heating, a built in tv and a mirror with lights. The bed was huge and so comfortable. The room was the perfect temperature. The room had everything you needed, super thick towels and plenty of them! The hot tub was ready for when we got there, temperature was set for us, we had dressing gowns and slippers ready for us to use. We chose to have breakfast in bed. The food was delicious. We called reception, and within 10 minutes our food got brought to our room, piping hot. Our whole experience was marvellous. I would recommend this place highly to anyone. I didn’t want to leave! 5 minute walk from the centre of Durham, which you can find the castle, cathedral. The market is lovely and has great little shops. Parking was easy to find and reasonably priced.

This is a great place to stay! The staff are very kind and helpful, the rooms are wonderful - lots of power points in useful places! - and the location is lovely, close to the railway station, a short walk into the centre and some beautiful riverside walks. I’ll definitely be back.

Just returned from a one night stay. All staff very friendly and gave me a warm welcome. I had asked to be allocated a quiet room ( I’m a light sleeper) and they delivered. I didn’t t hear anything at all during the night and had a good sleep. Lounge area very comfortable. Breakfast good. Items at breakfast buffet were replenished as required. The good thing about Premier Inns is that you know exactly what to expect - they always deliver a good stay at reasonable prices. Standards alway seem to be well maintained.

Was not my first choice but booked this hotel for my graduation at Durham University since all other hotels are fully booked. The hotel is relatively old but clean and has all the amenities needed (including an iron and the ironing board). Nice and friendly staff at the reception, who kindly assisted with the printing of some documents. Good location because it is within walking distance from the Durham Cathedral and the campus

1 night stay in the penthouse for lumiere weekend with friends. Fantastic accommodation close to everything. Gillian was wonderful and really helpful, Balloons and a birthday card were supplied in the room as it was my sisters birthday, really lovely and appreciated. Gillian went out of her way to make us feel welcome and explained everything to us on arrival, even got us into our room early. We stayed Friday night and weren't really bothered by too much noise, although ear plugs are provided as rooms are above the bar. The bar is great, good selection of drinks and they have a stamp card scheme, for residents it's buy 3 get 1 free. Live music on Friday night's, although unfortunately the singer wasn't able to attend due to parking issues with the lumiere event on. No breakfast option but lots of options close by, we went to chapters for breakfast which is a few minutes walk across the bridge(delicious) the room was more like a small apartment with a small kitchen with cooker/hob and fridge. Large double bedroom, single bed and sofa bed in living room. Bathroom with shower over bath, it was massive considering we were only expecting a room. Everything was spotless, no dishcloth though so couldn't wash our chips. Fantastic value for money and wouldn't hesitate to book again! Thank you to all at the city rooms!

The hotel is ideally located in the city centre, easy access and nice location near the river. Over a 6 day stay my room was only cleaned and tea/coffee restocked once, which was a little disappointing considering there’s no reduction in price for the longer stay. The staff were generally friendly and remembered details from my checkin which was a nice touch. Room service was hit and miss - one was very late (but then not charged) and the other had no steak knife or condiments - generally tasty though.

We arrived in Durham late afternoon after driving for hours from the Lakes district via Hadrian's wall in Hexham. We were greeted by the host William. After check-in we asked William for directions to Durham Cathedral. Unfortunately we got lost and couldn't get there. We got back to the B&B very tired and disappointed as we only had the date of arrival to visit the Cathedral. We were tired and told William that we will just rest up for our trip up north the next day. William wouldn't hear of it and offered to drive us to the Cathedral and even wait for us while we toured the Cathedral. We were embarrassed and did not want to trouble him but he insisted and took us in his car, acting as a tour guide he drove past many attractions and got us to the Cathedral. Once I knew the way, I asked if we could return to the B&B so I could drive us in our own car to the Cathedral and spend the evening around there. He recommended a few restaurants as we drove past them and took us back. We managed to drive back and attend evening song and then spent a lovely evening walking around. If it weren't for William, we would have just spent the evening in our room feeling sorry for our selves. Our room was at the top floor. As I was parking the car, my wife took a small suitcase in. An elderly woman insisted on carrying the bag upstairs and no matter how many times my wife tried, she insisted on taking it up. Breakfast was great. Although only street parking is available, William assured us that the area was safe and he was right. This is a family run B&B and William and his family could not be more hospitable, friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend Moor End Guest House.

The Queens Head is a lovely little BnB/Pub my partner and I both slept incredibly well, the room was spotless and the facilities were well maintained. The pub it’s self was lively with a friendly atmosphere, incredibly attentive staff and the breakfast was to die for. I could not recommend the eggs Benedict more. I would 100% stay here again and recommend it to my friends.

Excellent stay, room,, restaurants,, staff friendly help full, the spa very enjoyable. One big draw back you only get one hour on your arrival day. I've never had that in any hotel it should be at least two hours. On checking out morning you have till 11am. In all a very pleasant stay 😊
