Dorado Eagle Beach Hotel

6 day / 5 night Review of Delrado Eagle Beach Resort Pros : easily accessible to the beach , less than a 5 mile walk. Cons : small hotel : no elevator for those who would need it , upon check in we were greeted nicely by someone who told us we can pick up our beach towels in the morning and then return them at night. Next day as we left for the beach , there was no help at the counter but a sign that said in case of emergency call this number , when we did get towels they were wet still , no security at night ( they do have cameras but not sure what help that would be exactly ). Lobby smelled musty , pool area old and not clean , bar area ??isn’t one really. The rooms - much needed updates, toilet had a big crack that kept pinching my wife’s bottom ,could not regulate the water temperature in the shower and then add in the fact there was no water pressure to wash off the sand and soap. The sink faucet leaked so bad we needed to put towels around it , the sink itself wouldn’t drain. Furniture dated, stove had aluminum foil around plates , small refrigerator, no balcony , noise from construction across the street at times. Lesson learned - you get what you pay for and our only two saving graces was the clover and mini market across the street.

The staff were very friendly, pleasant, and accommodating. Check-in was 3pm (I think) but we arrived very early and were able to get into our room at about 10:30 am. This is a low budget hotel which is great for anyone coming to Aruba on a minimal budget. There are just 10 modest rooms on the 2nd floor, above reception/lobby and Zucchini’s restaurant. You can cook your meals in the room, BBQ by the pool, or make a reservation at the restaurant. Generally, the hotel was very quiet even though it is surrounded by various construction projects. There isn’t an elevator, so you need to be prepared to take stairs to your room. We stayed in room 3. The room was clean and spacious, but modest and quite dated. There was a very old, small, very low, well worn orange sofa in the room. There are no balconies, but there is one shared balcony across front of the building. The shower water pressure was extremely low. It is best not to shampoo your hair, or you will never be able to get the soap out. The pool area is very quiet – almost too quiet, with plenty of outdoor seating areas (pergolas/gazebo). There is no music, or speakers, in the pool area. The pool itself is very small and no one swam, or used the pool, during the 2 days we stayed there Zucchini restaurant forms part of this business and the property seems to come alive with music during the hours that the restaurant is open (6pm to 9:30pm, closed Saturdays). Zucchini’s restaurant appears to be a well known, go to, establishment! We didn’t know about the restaurant before we arrived, otherwise we would have made reservations. They were fully reserved when we were there; however, we were able to order a takeout serving of soup which they graciously delivered to our room for us. Dorado Eagle Beach Hotel is slightly off the beaten path but the beach is just a short walk away, and there is still lots to explore within walking distance. A few other nearby restaurants are Screaming Eagle, Peruvian, Terrazza Italiana, Chalet Swisse, Passions, and Coco Loco Beach bar. The hotel is also reasonably close to Super Food.

The hotel was very basic but good value for money. A short walk of around 250 meter from Eagle Beach. You get towels and chairs for usage at the beach. The room was also simple but with good queen beds and a well functioning airco. Not to forget the small pool and especially the great service.
