Mist Hotel in Ehden, Lebanon, presents an interesting dichotomy. The room was spacious and clean, and the rate was akin to a 4-star hotel in Geneva, a comparison that feels out of place considering the differences in location and the service provided. A disappointing note was the extra charge of USD 1.6 for each additional small bottle of water beyond the two complimentary ones. Especially when a 10L gallon of the same brand costs just USD 2, this fee feels unnecessary and contradicts the hospitable spirit of a 5-star hotel. It’s a matter of principle, not value. The breakfast experience was lackluster, with a limited selection and slow refilling of dishes. One particular incident that struck me was the discovery of a piece of bread that was hard and stale. When brought to the waiter’s attention, he admitted it was from a batch delivered three days prior. On a brighter note, the pool, sunset bar, and outdoor coffee shop were wonderful, providing serene spots for relaxation. The staff were generally professional, helpful, and welcoming. However, the smelly elevator floor indicated a lapse in cleanliness, likely due to an old or improperly dried cleaning mop. In summary, while Mist Hotel possesses some attractive features, it falls short in certain areas which need improvement to genuinely align with its 5-star rating.
