The Ocean Inn Antigua

We stayed 2 nights as part of a 2 week holiday. Robert the owner was lovely and very accommodating. With views of English Harbour and a 10 min walk to Nelson’s Dockyard. The room was large with a fridge and kettle. Balcony which although is very small has a table and chairs. The hotel has a pool and continental breakfast is included. The hotel is up a hill so a taxi or car is required if you have mobility issues. The hotel is being upgraded by the owner so parts are a bit tired but don’t be put off you will want for nothing. We had breakfast cooked by a renowned chef who had come in especially to do this for my husband who had just finished his Atlantic Row and I have to say Selwyn’s breakfast was wonderful

The Ocean Inn and host, Robert Potter, are gems! Robert is friendly, always smiling and always available to help in any way guests need. His heartfelt warmth and laughter create a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. Breakfasts offer a variety of juices, yogurts, pastries, fresh fruit, hard boiled eggs and cereals. Robert went above and beyond the call of duty to purchase plain, Greek yogurt for my daily breakfasts. Additionally, there was an honor bar fully stocked with soft drinks, beer, liquor and ice. The views of English Harbour from our cottage porch, the dining area and the pool deck were spectacular! We never tired of it. The pool was medium-sized and always clean. The deck provided sun loungers and some shade under one giant umbrella. The garden was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and cleaned daily. The air conditioning worked well and the TV offered Netflix, Prime and many other channels. Edgar, who works at the Inn, provided us with taxi service to town, beaches and Saint John's. Edgar was friendly, knowledgeable and a very careful driver! He was dependable and always on time. In short, The Ocean Inn and Robert Potter made this a wonderful vacation!

We moved to the Ocean Inn after four days at an “all inclusive” and they were very different experiences……and we preferred the Ocean Inn. Yes, it’s not immaculate and could do with some TLC and a lick of paint but the location, the view, the laid back atmosphere and the wonderfully helpful owner (Robert) made it a wonderful place to stay. We had a few (minor) gripes such as confusion over our room on arrival and problems with the hot water - we quite liked the refreshing cold showers in the end! - but the plentiful breakfast overlooking English Harbour and Nelson’s Dockyard, the honesty bar - how refreshing to have that, the lovely swimming pool and Robert’s friendly and positive/happy demeanour made it a winner. The local restaurants are a short walk (downhill - which means quite a steep uphill on the way back so perhaps not for those not so mobile!) and the buzz of the harbour area meant it held so much more interest for us compared to the more pristine, immaculate, hygienic and bland hotel and “all inclusive” alternatives. We loved it!

We stayed in the studio at The Ocean Inn, and we really enjoyed our stay! The location is absolutely fabulous! You absolutely cannot beat the view. The area is safe and walkable to restaurants, shops, Nelson’s Dockyard, English Habor, Falmouth Harbor etc. We walked to and from these places at night and felt totally comfortable. Breakfast was decent, the room was very comfortable and had all that we needed. The pool and deck are very lovely! But most of all, the owner Robert, is absolutely fabulous! He treated us like family, we could not have felt more at home there. He spent a lot of time telling us about the area, recommending places for us to visit, and answering our endless questions, he was always happy to be helpful! This is not a fancy all inclusive resort, but in my option, even better. You don’t get this kind of service and warmth anywhere else! It was just my husband and I traveling, but The Ocean Inn would be suitable for singles, couples, families or friends. If we go back to Antigua, we will 100% stay at The Ocean Inn again. Highly recommend!!
