Très bon accueil. Seul petit bémol, sur Trip nous avions reversé un appartement de 50m carré, mais une fois arrivé à l’hôtel nous nous somme retrouvé dans une chambre simple. Disons que le fait d’avoir une piscine privée pour les chambres simples à compensé ce désagrément. Sinon superbe hôtel avec un magnifique environnement.

Booked a 3-night twin room to attend a friend's lecture in Lagoa. The hotel, or better, motel is excellent for those on wheels, not for those on foot. If you have disabilities find another town in the Algarve. Some sets of stairs do not have rails, you have to go round the entrance to physically 'get in'. The reception has only 1 staff member when off-season, be prepared and do it all online. Forget questions about taxis, transportation, and restaurant advice is really subjective. The room was very comfortable, the second door to a set of stairs (curled) with direct access to the car park/entry of the hotel area was not. Cold and humidity pass through the doors (front door leading to corridor inside as well), as doors need maintenance. Breakfast is good and varied, for all tastes, except gluten-free options. Internet signal very weak, had to use phone data package. Check-in is only at 4pm. Pro's. besides what I already mentioned: bus terminal 5 min walk, good restaurants each way 5 min walk (one is just next door), supermarket passing the roundabout, beds very comfortable. You can walk to the centre (10 min walk) but the town is without interest, unless you are there for an event, for those on foot, you can stay here and get to know other nearby cities in the Algarve by bus, as the terminal is so close, and it is not expensive to go around by bus.

A very comfortable and pleasant place to stay. Our apartment was near the bottom of the complex with a balcony that was always in the shade. Other units overlooked the pool with sunny balconies and the “Sunset Apartments” were over the reception/restaurant area with great views and plenty of sun. Whichever unit you stay in the apartments are well kept, clean and airy with a large lounge/dining area. The kitchen is well equipped with a microwave, kettle, toaster, twin hob and under bench fridge. The lounge has a tv, but uk programmes are limited to BBC world News and BBC entertainment channel. OK if you like “Still Open All Hours” and other re-runs, but you are on holiday in a beautiful and friendly place so why stay in and watch TV. There is an on-site shop (not open when we were there but will be by end of March) and nearest and best mini market is in the village o the “Main Street” just behind the village square and opposite the ice cream parlour/cafe. It is a steep downhill walk to the village by the shortest route accessed by cutting through the apartments opposite the reception entrance and turning right but the easier way is to follow the road by going left from reception and right to go back to the main road and turning left. This brings you out at the bridge to the town square, which is where you want to be for great restaurants and drinks. Do not miss the water taxi across to Portimao or Praia Roche (10 euros return) we went to Portimao town to look at the excellent museum set in an old Sardine Canning Factory. I also highly recommend the “Indigo Restaurant” further up the street from the mini market. It serves Indian food prepared by the Owner, Mr Beddi. He and his staff are extremely friendly and very welcoming and he will make you what you want and to your taste. It was raining on our first arrival and I had to go to the village looking for food to cook. I took shelter on the seating outside of Indigo and, even though it was not open, the young ladies preparing for he evening made me a cup of tea. When Beddi arrived I asked where I could get a taxi and he gave me a lift back with no charge for the tea or lift. We went for dinner later as it had stopped raining and after being plied with more foo than was decent we were surprised by the exceptionally reasonable cost. To top it off it had started raining again and the excellent Beddi gave us a lift back again. What a way to start our holiday. Sadly we could not make a second visit as my wife felt unwell for the rest of the holiday (nothing to do with the stunning food we ate). We will be back to enjoy the beautiful area, the warm weather and the warm and welcoming Portuguese.

L'établissement Villa Rio Guest House Suites à Portimao propose quelques chambres très très spacieuses, décorées avec beaucoup de soin et de raffinement. Les espaces communs sont aussi très agréables, lumineux. Le petit-déjeuner servi chaque matin est copieux et varié, avec beaucoup de fruits frais ! L'accueil est super plaisant et on se sent vraiment bien dans ce lieu. Seul bémol, le ménage peut être un peu amélioré, notamment pour les cheveux au sol. Les salles de bain ont besoin d'être mieux aérées pour éviter trop de moisissure, notamment au plafond. L'établissement est hyper bien situé dans Portimao, tout est à proximité.

I would use one word to describe this hotel -Paradise. We came as guests and the staff treated us so well, we left as friends. We had our wedding at the Bricia Du Mar and it was prefect. The location for a wedding is what we dreamed of. The hotel is low rise and like a little village with beautiful rooms and a stunning pool area. There is a fantastic gym and spa also. What Raquel, Pedro and everyone else did to help us was above and beyond what you would expect from a hotel. They say they are not wedding planners but what they did to help us arrange our wedding was incredible. This a family run hotel and you can see the care and attention they have to make the hotel a success as it is quite new. Everything is spotlessly clean and such a calming wonderful environment. Our wedding went without a hitch and the attention to detail was incredible. All the staff at our wedding were genuinely happy to be there from the chefs to the bar staff and waiters who couldn’t do enough for us. We spent over 15 days in Portugal on our honeymoon and had the misfortune of ending up at this hotel as our last stay in Portugal. I booked via *********** and to be honest, we were in a bit of a hurry so I did not check the reviews on trip advisor. Never again! We usually book boutique hotels as the experience is more personal and a lot more interactive in terms of getting to know someone who is local as well as other guests. Since this was our honeymoon and we were going to be in the Algarve as our last stop before heading back, I thought it would be a lovely surprise to indulge in some luxury and I booked this so called 4* hotel looking at the pictures the management would have posted. It was so bad, the pictures would tell the story. The place is filthy and not worthy of a single star. There is absoluetly no sense of hospitality. Check-in is at an odd 3 or 4 pm and untill then they make you wait without even so much so as offering water to drink. Anyway, we checked in and immediately there was a foul smell in the bathroom. We informed them and the next hour was spent in getting the sink and the shower area de-clogged. In the meantime, we see large holes in the bedsheet! We inform the staff and they ask us what do we want them to do! Also, I had messaged them a month ago, at the time of booking that we would prefer a double bed - they said there are no double beds in the entire hotel and they would have a double bedsheet over the joined single beds, but this was also not done when we checked in and neither was it done when they changed the bedsheet nor the next day. This isn't where the horror story ends, there were bugs in the room, the little kitchenette had so much dust and grime accumulating for god knows how many months and there was cracked wood with dust everywhere you would look, water seepage and rotting wood and carpets. Take a look at the pictures and you'll realize without even being there what a dungen of a place this is and the worst thing is nobody cares. We checked out a day earlier and at the time we were leaving, the staff on the reception said ”I hope all was well with your stay”! Despite multiple complaints, no one bothered to come to the room to even see how we were managing. Unfortunately we had a boat tour and hike planned on day 2, which is why we didnt check out the same evening we checked in. We were being charged over 200 Euros a night and they didn't even give us a bottle of water. When we asked, they said we give one (50cl) bottle of water when you check in. No matter how many days you're staying with them! On the second evening, when I said the room wasn't cleaned yet, they said we first start with the rooms that would have guests checking in and then come to others and by 5pm it will definately be done. Even after 6pm, no one showed up and after repeated reminders, they started cleaning the room at 6:20. Yet, it was as dirty as you can see in the pictures - ones with the dust and grime around the kitchenette,
