I am very disappointed. This hotel is not designed for couples and families but for mass tourist transit, and it is not all clean or welcoming. Our first night had five busloads of tourists, and everything was designed for quantity rather than quality. The coffee at breakfast could be better, a very bottom-range robusta bean. I had to order a pay-for coffee from the bar, which was only marginally better as I could not stand the bitterness of the breakfast coffee. The buffet breakfast is unappetising, the pancakes dry, the butter still frozen, little choice, etc. As for the rooms. There is no hot water jug nor spoon for me to prepare my carioca de lemaõ, which I drink for my health. Only water bottles were available at a hefty price. The beds were made the Asian way: no upper sheet, just a very thin duvet with a cover and while it is acceptable to some, it was a novelty to me. There were hygiene issues; the dispensers of hand sanitiser were all empty. The sauna and indoor pool shower areas stank of urine. (the hotel reception told us it was probably a faulty canalisation… but the toilets are a floor below the sauna, and maintenance should have closed the area for repairs!!!) The jacuzzi had vert de gris algae growth over its vents, people were wearing outdoor shoes around the indoor pool area, judging from looking at the dirt on the ground tiles, and no one supervised guests for safety or hygiene. It was so dirty. After that, I did not enter the pool for fear of catching something. It was a very frustrating experience, considering I chose to stay in that hotel for its indoor pool and sauna. Having worked and stayed in hotels worldwide, I thought I knew well what quality standard to expect from a 4-star hotel!!!!! I am fast revising my beliefs and expectations downward, as far as Evora Hotel is concerned!!!

What I liked: 1. When I first walked in … my impression was ‘Wow’. A sleek and modern lobby and a open concept restaurant really made the place look amazing. 2. While I didn’t use the pools. There were a lot of choices. I think there were 4 pools and they all looked nice. 3. The included dinner at the hotel restaurant with my Globus tour was more the same type of meal I could get in North America. I generally want to try the local cuisine. However, there was a lot of choice with the buffet and a very pleasant experience. The breakfast the next morning also had a lot of variety 4. The rooms were clean and modern What could be improved/didn’t like: 1. The check-in at this hotel needs a lot of work, especially when dealing with bus tours. However, I think a lot of their business are bus tours since I noticed a very large parking lot with several buses next door. We went to our room and discovered it didn’t have two twin beds. This was a communication problem with Globus and spoke to our tour guide after this issue. We phoned reception and told them the situation. We asked for someone to come to the room because it seemed to be a long walk to get back to reception. After about 10 minutes, someone arrived from reception and walked us to the new room. We weren’t too thrilled since it was directly in front of this “wall of heat’ that we passed by when getting off the elevator. The new room also had a lousy view compared to the first one that overlooked the pool. We specifically asked the reception person to make sure that are luggage comes to the new room. She told us not to worry, but sometimes it takes a bit of time. We waited for more than 40 minutes and then thought – maybe they sent our luggage to the old room. I went back and it wasn’t there. We called reception and finally got our luggage more than an hour after checking in. This time there was somewhat of an apology since it was the same reception person who said it would be sent to the new room. She admitted that she forgot, and we respected her honesty. Originally, she seemed annoyed when taking us to the new room and only seemed concerned about whether we used the washroom in the old room. When we met people from the tour and told them about the situation, they said there is a ton of luggage in a small back room that hasn’t been delivered. This lack of organization and efficiency took one hour of out of our vacation time. 2. The front of the hotel is glass and looks very modern. But when you pass by the corridors that are in the front of the hotel facing the street versus the back facing the pool – the temperature is so hot it is noticeable. I think the hotel tried to put some type of additional wall to block the heat. However, it isn’t enough and there needs to be more air conditioning in the corridors to keep the place at a proper temperature.
Hotel Dom Fernando

The hotel Dom Fernando is very good location and just few minutes to Cathedral and Romans temple. Al monuments are close to hotel. The train station and bus terminal all reach by foot within 10 minutes. The room is big and breakfast is delicious. The hotel there is nice swim pool and Bar. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. It is best choice if you visit Evora unesco city.
MouraSuites Hotel

Wir hatten einen wundervollen Aufenthalt in Evora und haben uns das MouraSuits Hotel gebucht. Der Check-In war super freundlich und wir durften unser Zimmer sogar eher beziehen als angegeben. Das Hotel bietet einen extra Parkplatz, sodass wir auch keine Probleme hatten unser Auto abzustellen. Wir hatten ein Superior-Room für 2 Personen mit Blick auf den Pool. Das Bad ist wunderschön ausgestattet mit einer Regendusche. Der Pool ist auch angenehm kühl gewesen, aber nicht zu kalt. Das Frühstück war ein Traum. Wir konnten uns unsere Eierspeise dazu bestellen ohne Aufpreis, es gab diverse frische Säfte sowie Käse und Wurstaufschnitt, Gepäck etc. Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder.
M'Ar de AR Muralhas

I stayed here as part of a tour with Globus. The hotel is well located within the medieval walls of this charming town. It’s an easy walk to the Roman ruins and main square. The decor and ambience is very nice. Hotel is spotless and staff are very accommodating. We enjoyed the area out by the pool having drinks and good. It’s a great place to stay in Evora
Convento do Espinheiro, Historic Hotel & Spa

We spent a wonderful seven nights at the Convento in May. We booked directly with the hotel and requested an upper floor room (there are only ground level or first floor rooms in the new part of the accommodation) which we were given. It was quite far from the reception (room 149) but was quite a big room with a balcony looking over the countryside and sun in the afternoon which was fantastic (and pushed up our daily steps quota!). The location of the hotel is perfect for those looking for a peaceful break. Évora is easily reached by taxi (average about 10€) but it's also worth giving the two on site restaurants a try. Be aware that it's best to reserve well in advance and the more informal Italian option wasn't open every night during our stay. The bar also does food but the one night we used this we had to wait a very long time for the food to arrive (not so much of a problem in the wonderful surroundings of the Convento, but still...). This is overall a 5 star property but there were some aspects which we thought required attention. As others have mentioned, you will need to book a time slot for your breakfast. There seemed to be frequent coachloads of mainly American tourists who all took breakfast during the earlier slots so you should bear this in mind. It didn't really bother us but we had to take a slot nearer to 09:00 every day which might be an inconvenience for some. We requested a kettle for our room as well as cups but had to ask three times before they were delivered to us. Towards the end of our stay we were pleasantly surprised to receive a complementary bottle of the house espumante. We really would recommend taking one of the wine tasting sessions and the short guided tour of the Convento. Apart from the fantastic location, the superb grounds and pool plus everything else we have mentioned, the 'fifth star' at this accommodation is definitely the staff who were always smiling and ready to help/offer advice when needed.
