Lovely stay at the City Gate hotel; great location and room was lovely! Nice bar area and good food in the pub too.

Value for money indeed. Never expect such a spacious and well-refurbished room at such an amazing price. Would recommend it to anyone who visit Exeter since it’s located exactly at the city centre and within 10 or 15 minutes walk from both railway stations.

Fantastic staff and service. Rooms much better equipped and nicer furnishings than larger Exeter Hotels, well stocked mini bar and snacks in the room, even had a sky box! Evening meal was fantastic, cooked breakfast cooked fresh and very god quality. Will definitely be our regular Exeter Hotel from now on - can not believe we have not discovered it sooner!

Excellent hotel, especially for the price. Room had everything it should. Attractively decorated - bit worn, but very tasteful. Very comfortable bed. Friendly, efficient staff. Nice pub. Excellent restaurant. Great location, close to centre of Exeter.

One of the best Boutique hotels that I have ever stayed in. The room was tastefully furnished, whilst the food in the restaurant was of a very high quality. However, the thing that really stood out was the personal touch. The staff refer to guests by their name and will take the time to discuss how you are enjoying your stay. The complimentary port and flapjacks just add to the good will they generate.

Check in was easy.
Room nice and comfortable
Free port and flapjack was lush
Only half a roll of toilet paper and no extra so had to ask for more.
Got in the shower to find the shower gel empty 🙄...
Air con only lasted so long before an alarm went off so couldn't use it when we went to bed, the night was unusually hot so this probably isn't usually a problem.
We would stay again
