In terms of location, the hotel is great but I think that’s where the positives end. The pictures on the website look great but the reality is quite different and I’m not quite sure how it’s called “boutique”. The rooms are very tired with some bizarre red wall and floor panelling in the bathrooms which are stained and mouldy. There is also a huge window separating the bathroom. It has a roller blind which can be opened by two wall switches. In addition, the blinds don’t fit the window properly so there are gaps either end. A very bizarre design feature! I’m not quite sure why they don’t block the window up. Breakfast is basic, bread, processed sliced meat, sliced cheese, a pancake machine, fruit which was either unripened or past it’s best, some cereal in jars and mini croissants or muffins. On the first morning we ventured down for breakfast to be told quite rudely that we needed to book a time for breakfast. This wasn’t explained to us on check in despite asking what time breakfast was available. We were then told that on this occasion we could stay but we must book for other days because they were very busy…. every other day we had breakfast there were several empty tables. I also asked for some dairy free milk and again was told quite rudely that I also needed to book that with our breakfast time! Very rarely do I have issues with hotels but this was a disappointment. However, as mentioned at the start, great location.

Appartamento spazioso ma con qualche mancanza. Bagno un pò piccolo rispetto alle dimensioni dell'appartamento. Non ci sono armadi dove metter la propria roba. In caso di permamenza per più di una notte immagino ci possano essere difficoltà nel sistemarsi. Pulizia non proprio impeccabile. Il check in si effettua in una struttura nelle vicinanze e sarebbe meglio fornire l'indirizzo esatto di dove recarsi già in fase di prenotazione. Silenzioso e siamo riusciti a parcheggiare l'auto nelle vicinanze; forse in alta stagione la questione si complica. Rapporto qualità prezzo rispetto a tanti altri hotel visitati in Algarve nel corso del viaggio non molto buona ma Faro è piuttosto cara per alloggiare in hotel. Posizione molto buona per la visita della città.

I loved staying at Sunlight House. The location is very central, in a quiet part of the city. My initial correspondence and reception welcome at the B and B was warm, friendly and very helpful. I was able to leave my bags before my check in time which meant I could join a walking tour and see more of the city. The room was clean, comfortable and quiet and I had a very good night's sleep. I loved the roof terrace and enjoyed a spectacular sunrise before my flight home. All in all, a lovely place to stay in Faro and I would definitely book to stay here again.

Good hotels, such as this, have common features. This had some particular ones. Our dawn-view of the sun rising over the harbour and Old Faro town was one, followed by breakfast on the 5th Floor. We walked in our first day to the strains of La vie en rose on a petit-grand. Fernando's relaxed piano style matched our mood and the splendid view our over the Rio Formosa to the islands and the sea. Breakfast looked varied, but I concentrated on the bread and cakes. These, and good coffee, say 'Portugal' to me. Life felt good. Eva is close to easy and interesting strolling in the sun. We had lunch on the 5th floor on our last day (3rd). It was busy, mainly with locals, enjoying a winter-solstice fest. This time the piano played by Andre, son of our breakfast entertainer. A lighter style but both saying 'class'
